At the moment we are only looking for volunteers with construction experience to renovate a water tank with a special type of cement and to finish a rainwater system for the garden. So if you have experience in this, you can send us a message.
============
If you don't get an answer it's because we have found the right volunteer already or your profile doesn't fit with the needs at that moment. Goodluck!
Mucha suerte.Languages

The surrounding is forest, orchards and vineyards. In the weekend the neighbours come to their holiday home. They are an older couple that lives in Valencia. They treat us like family and offer help with everything we need. Very sweet and lovely people. They will be happy to meet you. So if you want to get to know the locals you don’t have to go far.
We are in a valley at 850 m above sea level. If you climb the mountains around the house, you can see the sea. Sometimes you will hear the bells of the sheep that are passing by with the shepherd.
In the night you can see the milky way. If you want to maximize the joy of looking the moon and the stars, you can use our telescope.
There are lots of hiking and cycling possibilities (mountain bike off the road / racing bike on excellent roads, almost no cars, you can choose to go direction sea where it is more flat or to go directly into the mountains). You can do a boat trip in a river cave, you can visit caves more than 5000 years old, you can hike along old bridges from the Moors, walk along waterfalls and beautiful mountain rivers (all this at car distance).
The mountains in the area go up to 2000 m above sea level. In winter it is possible to go skiing (30 min drive).
You can visit small mountain villages with typical Spanish restaurants (Andilla, Artaj, Oset,…). You can visit Chelva with it’s rich history. Also in Chelva you can walk the ‘ruta del agua’, an amazing hikingroute along a beautiful mountain river and passing by caves. ‘Area Recreativa Molino Puerto’ is a nice place along the ‘ruta del agua’ for the children to play with a charming bar next to the river. The bartender is a friend from Argentina. If you like to drink chai, you can ask for it, it’s not on the menu. It’s the favorite drink off the owner. If you walk a little further you come at ‘La Playeta’, a beautiful little beach next to the river. From there on you can swim and climb in the river or chose to go up through the cave.
Alcublas, the village, is 3 km from the retreat. It has 800 habitants. It’s the main village off the area. You have the most important facilities there (bank, bars, restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy, weekly market on Wednesday,…). You can discover the beautiful village with it’s small streets and squares with springs, you can follow the hiking trail to ‘los molinos’, where you have an amazing view. Or if you want to taste the local wine, you can go to bar Musical, next to the church. One local wine will cost you 1 euro! You can have a fresh and local meal for a good price.
The climate in summer is very nice because you have the refreshing mountain wind. At daytime in winter you can enjoy the sun, out of the wind. If you want to go hiking, it is better to put a good jacket to protect you for the cold wind. It doesn’t rain a lot, but if there are clouds and it rains, it is better to be at the warm fire stove or to do a trip direction coast. Since we are there, almost everyday, even in winter we had some sunshine!
Alcublas is 45 min driving from Valencia city and the coast. Valencia has his beautiful antique town and ultramodern buildings as well. You can visit the biggest aquarium in the world, the impressive science museum or the Mercat Central (market every day). There are also 2 waterparks and a zoo where the animals have lots of space.
If you want to go to a quiet beach, away from the seaside hotels, you can go to El Saler, next to the natural park La Albufara. The beach is a windswept natural sandy area of almost 6 km in length and surrounded by wonderful sand dunes, just waiting to be explored.
Natural park La Albufara is a very peaceful place and great for wildlife spotting, and gazing in awe at the crystal clear blue sky above you.
The greatest asset of our placel is the peace and silence.
There is no cell phone coverage, you have to walk or cycle 1 km to do your phone calls. Or you can use our wifi.
How to get there?
The Valencia airport is 36 km from Alcublas. 2 Times a week, there’s a bus from Valencia to Alcublas. We can pick you up in the village.
You can also rent a car in the airport (prices start at 4 euro / day) so you can get to know the surrounding when and where you want.
A little more information
