Description
Hola and welcome!
We are an animal welfare organization and no-kill shelter. Since we began our journey, we have rescued stray, abused and hurt animals in Playa Blanca - Barra de Potosí, Guerrero.
We rescue these animals, mostly dogs and cats, and house them in our fenced open-air sanctuary while looking for permanent homes for them. We also run regular mass spay and neuter clinics for local communities and animals living on the streets.
We also have a small beachside hotel, 10 minutes away by bus from the shelter.
Please read the descriptions of the positions available below.Types of help and learning opportunities

All of our shelter and hotel staff are Mexican-born and speak Spanish only, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice your Spanish and experience their way of living here. You are surrounded by local people and can choose to integrate as much as you please.
Free time:
We are located by the most beautiful beach and surrounded by dry tropical jungle, with many lagoons, and walking trails. Our volunteers during their free time can explore neighbouring towns, socialize with locals, ruins, and museums, learn the culture, and traditions, as well as activities like kayaking, surfing, snorkelling, hiking and exploring the jungle, wildlife watching - birds, whales, dolphins, turtles etc.Help
*** Are you a real animal lover ?***
We are a team of passionate people who love animals, we have devoted our lives to saving them and we are looking for like-minded people, who don't tolerate abuse and neglect, and who truly want to dedicate their time here to saving the world with us!
Our ideal volunteer is a team player, has great common sense, a good sense of humour, the ability to work without supervision, is open-minded, very flexible, with good energy and attitude, a happy smile on their face, willing to learn, help, listen and respect our rules.
We’re looking for mature, drama-free people who are comfortable/familiar with communal living and working with a team of like-minded people.
Volunteering at our animal rescue is an amazing and rewarding experience, but it’s hard work.
If you are someone who watches the clock waiting for your shift to end, this isn’t going to be the place for you. Work here doesn’t always stop after 5 hours, because working with animals means we have to deal with unexpected situations as they arise. Unfortunately, the animals don’t keep their emergencies within a 5-hour shift time!
If you are squeamish with blood or don't like to get dirty or clean poop, this isn't for you.
Basic or Fluent Spanish is always a huge bonus, but not mandatory.
Minimum age 20 years old
If you're ready to surround yourself with furry friends and make a meaningful impact on their lives, apply now - please specify in your email that it’s for this position.
we provide shared room and food supplies.
🐾Animal Lovers 🐾
Term: preferably 3 weeks or more
Hours: minimum 5 hours a day 5 days a week
We provide basic accommodations and food supplies, like rice, pasta, beans etc.
Daily tasks include feeding, picking up poop, cleaning the yard, walking the dogs, giving out medicine, spending time with our cats, and spending one-on-one time with the animals to create a bond and make them feel loved.
We also work on basic leash training and commands when we have the time and capacity. Other tasks can be assisting in taking photos and videos, working on social media if you have experience with it, taking animals to the vet and airport, doing stray dog feeds, building improvements, fixing things around the property etc.
Our schedule is not always fixed, because the needs of the animals can come at any time of the day and always come first, so we ask for flexibility from you, we also offer flexibility when you need time off.

We also need Workawayers with deep passion and skills in yoga, fitness, cooking, DIY, art, event management and more!
If there is something you love doing and could share by teaching local women, children, visitors and guests, please let us know, we might be able to make great use of your skills!Languages

You will be living on the same property with our rescue dogs, who live like pets inside and outside in our backyard.
Our accommodation is in shared rooms. There are three single beds in each bedroom. In. the dry season we also have a tent on the rooftop of the house, which is used by one person or can be shared by a couple.
Volunteers must be prepared to live alongside other volunteers and our dogs and cats. To have complete privacy, you will need to go for a walk to the beach or the jungle.
The volunteer house is simple and rustic, it has all the amenities you need, but it is basic, please don’t expect any luxuries. We have two shared bathrooms (one indoor and one outdoor), a small kitchen and a shaded roof area built by our volunteers for yoga, meditation and social gatherings.
We are located in the middle of nowhere, but still close to civilization. There is a small shop a few minutes walk from the house where you can buy the basics and some fruits and vegetables.
Where we are is not a busy party town with nightlife, but we have a few local restaurants where you can eat a variety of great Mexican food.

We love animal lovers and team players, responsible, motivated people who can take initiative! We can’t always tell you exactly what to do, if you are done with your tasks - look around and go wherever you’re most needed! Our volunteers must be able to use their own initiative, we trust you to work together to make this place great!
Be willing to always put the animals first!
You must be in decent physical condition as our work involves a lot of walking, raking and cleaning - often in the sun, and occasionally lifting dogs and other heavy items.
Be prepared to :
- Save lives!
- Deal with abused, scared, and hurt animals and help them become loving and playful.
- Dogs barking and howling at night, if you are a light sleeper - bring earplugs.
- Dogs can fight occasionally, be prepared to help separate them
- Get dirty, sweaty, sometimes frustrated, sometimes sad.. and very happy.
- It’s tropical Mexico - it's green, it's beautiful and .. it's hot and humid.
- Mosquitoes, ticks, sand fleas, etc. - bring bug spray!
- Things break, power and water go off on occasion, and the internet can be slow sometimes.
In return, you will enjoy the feeling of accomplishment of saving and changing animals’ lives, being part of a great team, incredible sunsets, secluded beaches, a gorgeous dry jungle, cheap delicious food, and dog snuggles thanking you for the love they never knew before.
We recommend volunteers travelling here to have had a tetanus vaccination/booster within the past 10 years.A little more information
