Description
João and I (Maria) have been living here since 2017. After living many years in a small town near Lisbon, we decided to follow our dream to live in a farm in Alentejo. As soon as João retired, we bought a farm and moved here to be busy and live our dream.
Our farm is a little piece of paradise on top of a hill overlooking a tributary of the Guadiana river and the typical Alentejo plains. It is a 2 hectares property with olive trees, a small vineyard, fruit trees and a vegetable garden for our consumption. We are also volunteers at a childcare home and we deliver many of our products there.
Our house is off the grid and self sustained, with solar energy powering electricity and a well sourcing water to the entire property.
We love animals and nature. We have dogs, cats, 1 donkey, 1 poney, 1 horse, sheep, chickens. All animals are roaming free all day, weather permiting.
We compost the manure of our chicken, donkey, poney and sheep which we use to fertilize the land. Also we have a composite to make earthworm húmus.
We are used to receiving people. Friends, friends of friends who sometimes come to help us or spend a few days with us. We love to interact with people, exchanging stories and experiences.Types of help and learning opportunities
