    Description

Hi there! We are a young family of 3. My name is Elisabetta and my kids are Eva Luna (7 yo) and Ernesto (5). They are both peaceful and calm but also active and curious. They had workaway nannies since they were babies but we had to stop hosting due to the pandemic. We definitely want to get back on track with both the fun of hosting and the English-learning. That's why we would prefer to host a native English speaker but we are open to any other request.
    ---
I lived in London for a few years before I had the kids, so I'm fluent in English. I teach English at State Schools but I also manage (and teach at) a private English School teaching all age groups. We use a non-formal and task-based teaching approach. We organized a three-weeks English-speaking Summer Camp last June. Thanks to workaway, we had a great team of native English people. Some of them were friends we met through workaway over the last few years and some others were new volunteers. We had 40 kids so it was a very challenging experience, but also a successful and fun one.
    ---
We have two cats, in case someone is allergic.
    ---
Salento is a little paradise in the South of Italy. We have sun, beaches, culture, lots of festivals and a delicious cuisine. It's worth spending some time of your life here!
    ---
We can host volunteers travelling together or families of max 2 people, but only for short stays.

    Help

Volunteers are expected to spend time with my kids, speak English to them, play with them, do some babysitting while I'm at work (usually they are at school when I'm at work so that's quite rare), help me do some housekeeping and cleaning, feeding and grooming the cat.

You may also be involved in some non-formal English teaching at my English school.

    Accommodation

You will stay in our house, but we don't have a guest room unfortunately. When we have volunteers, they sleep in the kids' bedroom and I share my room with the kids for the night. Be aware that the kids still use their room for playing in the afternoon, so you will have your privacy during the night of course, but not a private room. We are nice discreet people so I'm sure you will be totally fine with that :) everyone has been so far!

If you prefer a private room, you can stay at my dad's, who lives 10 mins walk from us, as long as he is not hosting any other workawayers at the same time. He's also been a host for a while. You can check out his profile here:

You will have your main meals with us.

If we are having dinner out, you are more than welcome to join but you will pay for your food.

We live in a picturesque little town known as "la capitale delle luminarie". Just google it and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about! There is no train station but there is one in a neighboring town, 10 mins bike ride from our house. You will have a bycicle for yourself if you need it. We live right in the centre of the town, literally round the corner from the main square.
