Description
Hiya folks! My name is Lucy and I live on the campo, close to the beautiful village of Castril in NE Granada. I live in a large renovated four bedroom/two bathroom cortijo with two adjoining outbuildings, also some land. The property is located along a 4km track through olive groves and almond orchards. The views are stunning in every direction and the wildlife, equally so (imagine your own private valley with daily birds of prey soaring above & below you). I'm semi off-grid, water from local source, solar power & have reliable, fast wi-fi.
My aim is to eventually get the main house up & running as a self-catering holiday let. I've been here just over 3 years, gave up my job in Edinburgh and adopted a gorgeous lazy Mastin right before Covid hit (great timing!) so am a little behind schedule to say the least. I have built a sitooterie, demolished the 3rd outbuilding & completed renovating the second. Swimming/plunge pool hopefully being constructed in summer. The main house is fully furnished.
In terms of the area, all local amenities are only a short drive away. There are two National Parks (Castril y Cazorla) walking, trekking, mountain biking, horseback riding, bird watching, a local outdoor pool and lakes, reservoirs, rivers for wild swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing. It's pretty special here.
Your own vehicle is a MUST! Still to learn to drive, only a mountain bike at present. Current tasks needing completed are painting, rubble removal, drystone wall building, cooking, website design, prepping this years veg plot and general gardening (I've just bought a new, light-weight strimmer!)Types of help and learning opportunities

I am of Scottish/Welsh heritage so English speaking with a somewhat erratic, intermediate understanding of Spanish, a constant source of amusement to the local shepherd, who occasionally pops by for a cuppa or beer & a bonfire with his 300 strong herd in tow. My main work experience is with children and teenagers in Additional Support Needs. There is a plethora of cultural activities for kids and adults alike in the surrounding villages here. Most of my books still reside in Scotland, but I have the beginnings of a decent sized library (photography, design, music, film, novels, poetry, language, history, maps, etc). Al fresco dining, sharing stories & laughs if you wish.
Help
I don't drive (yet!), so having your own vehicle is a must. Help with clearing land/outbuildings of some rubbish/old furniture & disposing at local recycling dumps, the odd grocery shop, carpentry, painting, possibly drystone wall/platform build, path building, gardening/constructing raised beds - beginnings of a vegetable patch. Generally, lots of random bits, some little, some larger...5 hours daily help required.
