This was my first time doing workaway. At first I was scared of how it was going to be, cause it was my first time doing this.Lael was a very lovely host, such as tom and Nolan. I have such an amazing month, I stay from mid July to mid August. From the first to the last day, they make me feel as I was part of their family. I stay in a room that

My tasks were to look after the two little boys, William and Archie. They were nice kids and it's was fun to be with them, playing legos and other games with them. I also help with the plants, the garden a giving food to 2 cows. In the food I was able to take whatever I want to eat. In my free time I have the opportunity to explore to island, to towns as cowichan lake, chemainus, maple bay, they always help me to know places where I should go. Duncan is a nice town where you can explore the downtown. I wish I could have stayed longer, 100% I recommend staying with them. Thanks for all.Left by host for Workawayer (Gabriel )
Gabriel was amazing - he adapted to our household extrememly well - is very independent and is very polite. Gabriel tried everything and did a lot of exploring on his own. Very clever, not a picky eater, great with kids and did everything that was asked ! We would strongly recommend him for house hold duties, child minding and gardening. He was a

wow what a world traveler - so many amazing stories to tell and adventures to share!. very kind man always willing to give a hand
in new or old skills which he graciously shares with us! Very simple man, doesn't need a lot but is always found smiling. Great at entertaining
himself and asks very little of his host family. He is always welcome back

For 23 days I had a wonderful host in a wonderful place! Lael is a good host who understood what workaway means, what he should offer a volunteer and what he should expect from a volunteer. She welcomed me into her home with open arms, respected and appreciated me. I feel that I, as a guest, was not on the same level as the host. Lael knows very

Thank you Lael!

Lucia is absolutely amazing - she is so pleasant and so thoughtful. She never stops working and can mutli task! My house has never been so clean - very very courteous, very aware of her host family needing their space too! I would absolutely have Lucia again out our home - Her English is poor but her smiles make up for it!. Javier likes to play

First of all I want to thank Lael, Tom, Nolan and Essa, of course don't forget the pup Oliver :) They welcomed me into their family from day 1 and were happy to show me around the island on days off. I ended up staying for 3 months and it went buy so quickly. I really enjoyed my stay with this wonderful family. The work is not hard, some household
… read more and help in the garden, some cooking and cleaning, vacuuming, dusting,... Lael will let you know what to do and you'll see work yourself as well. They love coming home to a home cooked meal after a hard day of work. Also some cooking from your home country they will love to try. Oliver, the cutest dog, will love to play with you and keep you company if you want. You can get around in Duncan with the bus who stops at 10min walks from the house. There is a market on saturdays and nice little shops in town, also an old movie theatre ;) Lael and Essa took me to the market and some hockey games, that was so much fun!!! They really make you feel at home! Can't thank them enough for everything. You guys are always welcome in Belgium (once I'm back)! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
