    UPDATE AUGUST 13, 2024

We are only looking for REAL WORKAWAYERS.
NOT “Accidental Tourists” who are looking for cheap accommodation.

    ————

    *****
    UPDATE 15th July 2024
We would love a WokAwayer or two for a 3-7 day stay depending on how we vibe etc. We would welcome a digital nomad.
    *******
We eat predominantly animal products/ carnivore/ketovore.
    ***
    Update 13th November 2023
We currently need help outdoors with creating some drainage/raking leaves, and with carpentry like making frames for paintings. Also some light housework. We ask you to cook for yourself mostly but we'll do the shopping.

**Last minute search for a CAT & HOUSE SITTER. 1-6 November 2023. You are also welcome to arrive earlier and do some gardening and very light housework. Suitable for a single person or a couple. A car would be highly desirable as it is a countryside setting. (Unless of course you thrive in nature and serenity. It's a magical place for a digital nomad or for a writer. Dates Tuesday 31 October until Monday 6th November. Please reply with CAT SITTING in the subject. I will be here with you on Tuesday to show you the ropes and around the place, and I'll leave on Wednesday 1st November at around 2pm. The house will be stocked with provisions for your stay.**

***We currently have room for a single WorkAwayer or a couple.***
****We are only looking for people with Workaway references (unless you can convince me that YOU are the person who we need!) We are looking for someone with REAL experience of garden maintenance and/or DIY woodwork/painting on wood and concrete indoors and outside.****

We are a musical and artistic family in Galway city/Salthill/Barna side and also in a beautiful countryside setting south of Galway. Only 50 minutes by train from Galway city.

What you get from this experience is just as important to us as what we get from it. We'd prefer non-smokers. (Or you can smoke in the garden). Please read my profile CAREFULLY before writing to us! Thanks! :-) Please write “Gaeilge agus Fáilte” at the top of your message so I know you’ve read the whole profile.

We speak Irish and play music. We can teach you about these. We'll show you around. We love independent people who take decisions and are open to reciprocal sharing of constructive criticism. I *love* how our May 2023 WorkAway, Lynn, did things. Like myself, she finds things to create solutions for. ❤️❤️❤️😍❤️ Lynn was a veritable guardian angel to us.

    COMMUNICATION:
I like to "call a spade a spade".
No beating about the bush or sweeping things under carpets in this household! :-)
We talk about “the difficult things”, as my favourite song says:
“Greenhill, by New Zealander “Naomi Keyte”. 🎶🎶🎶😍🎶
We like people who use their ears as much as or more than their mouths. (There's a reason why we were created with two ears and one mouth!). We like people who are good listeners (but not if you only like to listen to yourself talking about yourself.) As I said somewhere else in this profile, BS and big egos will be shown the door.

  • Help

    Help

I have a few projects where I could use someone's help for 2-5 days or longer if we all vibe together well.
It looks like a lot of people want to come to Galway, ❤️❤️ so please tell me why YOU are the one to help me get the job done - ie any of these:

Updated SEPTEMBER 2023 - outdoor art project, garden weeding/clean up/planting bulbs and herbs/pollytunnel work/freeing up an overgrown pergola/making apple pies/jam.
    INDOOR priming/filling/painting/wall-papering. Cat sitting/housework.

    ——————

We would like some help with garden work/polytunnel.

Also some carpentry/DIY (I'm desiging a garden pergola-type thing/and also doing an garden art project with stencilling on cement paving and on concrete walls.)

    I have a live music/radio project where I could use the video-skills of a camera-person/sound/editing etc.)
So if you have those, I think we could have some fun.

We are within 30 minutes walking distance of a lovely beach/the sea-side. And within 15mins walk of a magical little woods.

We are a lot of fun and like to go walking/hiking around Galway and Connemara.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Galway city suburb: We have 1 tiny but cosy and beautiful bedroom available, and you will share a bathroom with 1 other person. There might be a bigger double room for you. The house is in a very quiet residential area away from traffic. There is nothing to hear in the morning but the sound of the birds. We have a small back garden. The house is a 5-minute walk from a bus stop for a buses into the city. Last bus is at around 11pm. Taxis to the house from the city centre costs around €18. The bus costs €2.70. I have a car so you can travel with me on food-shopping or such trips. But we usually walk to the supermarket to get in a wee bit of daily exercise.
South Galway countryside: You will have a small double room or a beautiful tiny rustic garden cabin with bunkbeds. (The latter is a dream space for a writer!!!)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The only criteria is that you are reliable, serious about your tasks and this two-way exchange, and serious about having fun at the same time. Without ego BS.

From experience I’ll say that I can smell bullshit from a distance. If there’s any BS in how you treat us, our beautiful home or our other guestws, you’ll be asked to leave at short notice.

We often host guests from around the world and have references on other platforms from over 100 people who have stayed with us (both short-term and long term) and loved it. We love sharing our music & culture, and you will have a wonderful time here in Galway with us. We love going for a dip in the ocean or a walk or hike in the countryside.

Please close your first message to me with “Fág an bealach bíp bíp bíp/BS will not be entertained”
to show me that you’ve read my whole profile.
