Description
We are Enni and Markus, a warm-hearted couple living in the countryside in central Finland with our 1,5-year-old son Reino and a little herd of sheep. We are continuing the farm that has been running in Markus’s family for six generations and now we would love to have people here to help us and bring their stories to us. The farm is really in the middle of forest and fields so you can enjoy the peace and quite here.
The volunteering tasks will be helping around the house, taking care of our hobby sheep, helping with the garden where we grow our own food, maintaining and helping renovating our old farm house and help with different kind of personal projects.
We have been traveling quite a lot before and have had some very nice workaway experiences in Asia which inspired us to offer this kind of opportunity to other travelers now as a host. We enjoy a lot meeting new people and learn about other cultures.
We both have been studying music and now we are teaching it for couple evenings during the week. Markus plays guitar and Enni plays piano. We also run a little coffee roastery - so you can be sure to enjoy very fresh coffee at your stay. During the summer time we also run a summer cafe at the farm. We are easy-going and open-minded and we truly appreciate the nature around us. Our goal is to create a sustainable farm and live a great life with lovely people around us.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are professional musicians so if you are into music, we can jam and give you opportunity to play different instruments in our house. We have been traveling quite a lot around the world so we have some experience in different cultures. We are open-minded and welcoming, always eager to learn new things from new people and make new friends!Projects involving children

Help
Depending on the time of the year, there is many different kind of help that is needed at the farm. In the spring and summer time there is a lot to do with the garden; planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, building new fences etc. During the autumn and winter you can help us with snow work, cleaning the outdoor buildings, take care of sheep, warming up buildings etc. We will teach you everything, your spirit and attitude towards working is more important than previous experience on farming. You can also help a lot with cooking, playing with our son and helping around the house.

You can stay at a cozy log cabin next to our house. There's an outdoor toilet close to the cabin and sauna is in the same building. During daytime we will spend time in our farmhouse, where we have everything you need, like toilet, shower, wifi and kitchen. For the summer we also have hammocks and tents that are free to use if you want to have a wilder experience.
What else ...
You can come here by bus or train. The closest train station is about 30 minutes ride from our farm and we can come to pick you up from there. The closest city is 1 hour drive away, but there's a small village about 15 minutes ride from our farm. We visit the village quite often, but please notice that we live very rural area and there isn't any public transportation from our farm. You can always use our bikes to get around the area.
If you want to visit the city (Jyväskylä) we can take you to the bus/train.
During your time off you can play our instruments, take hikes, go to the sauna, go fishing, meet friendly local people, play board games with us. If you have anything specific on your mind we are happy to help you! :)A little more information
