    Description

PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS NOT GREAT HERE SO WE ONLY TAKE WORKERS THAT TRAVEL WITH THEIR OWN VEHICLE. IF YOU EMAIL US, PLEASE CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH A VEHICLE.

We are an English couple living near Grasse, the perfume town on the Cote d'Azur, just 20 minutes drive from Cannes.

Before we settled in France, we travelled extensively and worked on yachts.

Mick still works within the yachting industry and I'm a psycho-spiritual practitioner.

We live in a traditional French farmhouse. It was a renovation project. Before we purchased our house, it was a holiday home for 40 years, then rented, then squatted and then empty for 4 years prior to us falling in love with it. It hadn't been loved for a long time.

Over the years, we've renovated the property and have done almost all the work ourselves. But there's always more work to do. Mick is a qualified wooden boat builder, so he is great with wood but he's also super practical and can put his hand to anything. I do more of the gardening, plastering, tiling and decorating.

The 2,500 m2 (half an acre) garden was so overgrown there were areas we couldn't access, but with a lot of hard work, sweat and blood, it now really has a rustic charm with some yummy fruit and olive trees. There is still loads of work to do in the garden, plus constant weeding and maintenance. The tiny vegetable plot grows a little bigger each year as I become more confident.

We are learning as we go and would love to learn from you. We are looking for help from people who are good at gardening, and decorating.

    Upcoming jobs and projects:
    Always gardening
    Redecorating
    Renovate a 1972 campervan

We're English, speak some French and a little bit of Italian. We don't have children and we're are not a farm or hostel. We have three cats.

WE DO NOT ORGANISE WORKAWAYER VISITS MORE THAN ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING A TRIP IN THE FUTURE PLEASE CONTACT US NEARER THE TIME.

Previously we have taught and inspired our workawayers to have a go at new things and learn new skills such as plastering, rendering, patio building, laying underfloor heating, gardening and vegetable growing, cooking and all sorts of other home and garden renovation projects. Kirsti especially likes to encourage our female workers to have a go at jobs often thought of as male jobs.

We're not French but can share a lot about English people and England as well as the many amazing countries we've travelled in. We also have a good knowledge of our local area, especially local hiking, things to do and tourist attractions.

Projects in the house are mostly small and include decorating. But if you are skilled at plumbing, electrics or building we can definitely find you some petite renovations.
In the garden there is a constant supply of maintenance work and petit renovations, from laying paving, rendering, plumbing and laying water systems, digging, maintaining the vegetable plot, trimming trees and bushes, chopping wood, planting, more digging and endless weeding.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation is in the house. We have 1 - 2 guest rooms that have double beds and patio doors. The guest bathroom is next to the guest bedrooms.

If you prefer to camp or park your campervan in the garden, that's also possible.

We have a small swimming pool to cool off in the summer and a wood burner to be cosy in the winter.

    Wifi and English tv.

Although we enjoy socialising and eating with workaways, we don't have time to entertain, do tourist things with you, or transport you. Therefore, you need to have a vehicle. The public transport is not good, and we are not within walking distance of a village.
