    Description

Hello Volunteers, My name is Richard Lutaaya, married with three wonderful children. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work and Social Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management and a Bachelors degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology.

Having worked with persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS for over 12 years, i was attached to many patients to whom i had to deliver medication (Anti Retralviral Therapy) which they has to take every so as to keep living. However, many did not survive for long especially those in rural vulnerable communities. On their death beds, several mothers requested me to take care of their children which left me wondering on how to do so since i was a young guy with no much income. For that reason, on 29th April 2014 i founded a dynamic grassroots non-profit Community Based dedicated organisation to uplifting the rights and potential of people in vulnerable communities across Uganda through providing long-term sustainable solutions to problems in undeserved communities which are mainly caused by poverty, illiteracy and poor health services.

    Our Goal:
To create a society where needy people are empowered, educated, and capable of making informed choices that lead to positive change in their lives and communities.

    Our Mission:
Strive for a transformed society where equal rights and opportunities are advanced to needy members of the community to improve their quality of life.

    Our Vision
A society where vulnerable communities live to their full potential.

    We are on a mission
To actively serve the people and the communities in Uganda by engaging in projects that promote social, economic and cultural development.

In undeserved and other vulnerable communities in Uganda, several young girls are married off at tender ages due to high poverty while many young boys end up on streets and for hard labor. Illiteracy is too high hence the reason as to why i started up a community school, to give a helping hand in providing education support to the most needy children who live in extreme poverty, dropped out of school, lost one or both parents and were left with their grand parents who can hardly provide a warm meal or take them to school.

The school has five teachers who are members of the community, paid very little money but would wish for a better pay for the good work they do. We have continued managing the school throuThe school is still in a bad state without windows, doors and few desks. However, we were blessed and purchased an acre of land on which we plan to construct better school premises and a community resource center so as give the best education and skills to needy children and youth.
However, this can only be possible With your support and we believe that when we work together in partnership and collaboration we will bring about ever lasting change for the most needy, vulnerable children, youth and their communities and beyond.

We offer short- and long-term volunteer opportunities in our simple family home. Our volunteer placements are open to people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of nationality or qualifications. Volunteers certainly gain an amazing life experience from their participation in our placement programs and we recruit new volunteers all year round. Volunteers shall receive a certificate of appreciation on completion of their volunteering program time with us.

Volunteering provides a multitude of benefits, ranging from personal growth and skill development to making a positive impact on communities and individuals in need. It's a rewarding way to give back while also enriching one's own life.
Humanity is first. Our Highest Ambition is to Help People without Discrimination Or Segregation. We understand that providing effective assistance to vulnerable communities requires a comprehensive and holistic approach. Our strategies are carefully crafted to address the specific needs and challenges of the communities we serve, and to create lasting solutions for poverty, lack of education, health issues and other difficulties. We focus on engaging with communities, building partnerships and collaborations at both local and international levels, using evidence-based approaches, promoting long-term sustainability, and monitoring and evaluating our programs to ensure that we are making a meaningful and lasting impact.

Come let us Empower Vulnerable communities and Transforming lives through Entrepreneurship and Education

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Cultural exchanges provide an opportunity to explore other cultures, traditions, customs, beliefs, societies, languages and much more. Cultural Exchange is good to interact with and learn from people who are different from themselves and to participate in new and distinctive experiences beyond their own communities. It also helps volunteers to develop positive relationships with others, understand a broader range of perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for participation in our multicultural society. It not only broadens volunteers point of view but also provides opportunities to gain new skills and knowledge.

Learn from the community to plant a communal garden, get schooled in traditional farming, learn to cook delicious local food, sharing history with elderly people, gain insights into our culture and learn about the reality of life in Uganda. You’ll volunteer along side motivated Ugandans in a new ‘hands-on’ project each day.

This excellent learning opportunity of culture, learning about the different types of foods, visiting cultural sites and languages leaves Volunteers with better understanding for people of all sorts. We have a community which is so much welcoming and the children will be very much exited to meet you.

We are always open for new ideas and support around our project.

    Accommodation

We provide an accommodation and three meals a day for the volunteer.

The accommodation is comfortable and in a quiet environment. You will stay with me and my family in a place that is safe and away from stress. Our residence is located in Nakiwogo, Entebbe near lake Victoria. Your room has two beds and you have access to a bathroom but our toilets are out. Mosquito nets are provided too. Meals are composed of local foods and you have access to the kitchen. We also provide vegetarian and vegan options. You are generally part of our family.

The area around Entebbe and Kasanje are safe, peaceful and quiet, away from bustling of Kampala town. One can enjoy reading, relaxing, meditating, jogging or working out in beautiful nature.

The accommodation is not in the same area as the school or community. To get there we use a ferry or boat which is free. We only pay transport for Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi) to and from the school community.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

While volunteering with us it's not just a time of working on projects but also time spent experiencing Uganda at large and the different cultures and also embracing nature of the Pearl of Africa.

Volunteers can have time off their usual schedule to visit different National Parks, Cultural sites and the capital Kampala. About your hometown Entebbe there are food markets, beaches (beautiful lake shores), the botanical gardens (with beautiful bird spices), nice cafes and restaurants and much more to explorer.

If you are interested in doing a safari while staying in Uganda please plan on touring with us. The volunteer shall have to pay for their tour/safari trips. It is slightly expensive but worth your time of adventure and experience as one gets to meet with the BIG FIVE in the wilderness. The tour/safari gives back 50% in supporting the needy children and their communities.
