    Description

    Hello World Travelers!

Thanks for your interest in visiting our family and area!

We are a mom, dad, two college boys and a small, friendly dog. Our household is vegetarian and non-smoking.

We meet with visitors who have an itinerary and already are in the Bay Area.

Most visitors begin at a local place, like a hostel, before staying with us.
It is important that you get to know your surroundings and bus, BART train.
Also, nightlife in San Fran and Berkeley, can be enjoyed (jet lag) before visiting the suburbs.
Look on Workaway website, Meetup and Couch-surfing, where there are groups who like to get together and go around the city or enjoy specific topics. Whatever you enjoy!
Also, look at flixbus, greyhound and Amtrak. Amtrak train has one of the top destination routes in the world along the Pacific Ocean.
Visitors usually stay with us 1-2 weeks; some take an excursion around that time and then return. Visiting Los Angeles and San Diego, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon is fun! Asian tours from San Fran and LA are cheapest and include accommodations and food.
Southwest Airline and Jet Blue have cheaper air travel within USA.
It is about a 15 minute easy walk to the bus from our house, 15 minute ride to BART and to all destinations in The Bay Area.

I mean the following to be said kindly and give more information to you.

You are responsible for your travels. Always have back up plans! Please only contact me once you understand your USA visa. I am not able to answer visa questions or be a reference. You must have an itinerary for the Bay Area that includes local interests and accommodations for your budget. We only meet after you are staying in The Bay.

While here you are a part of our family, our daily lives, and household. You are expected to pitch in with meals, clean up and daily activities...just like you do at home!
Timing depends on weather and what things we want to do during the day. For example, some days it makes sense to prepare lunch and dinner at the same time so that we can go out and enjoy the day with only dinner dishes to be put in the dishwasher. Or, we might have plans during the morning and afternoon so that we make dinner and clean up in the evening.

Meeting with visitors to exchange culture and stories is amazing!
We grow and learn working together on small and big projects so the visiting time varies. We work it out depending on your travel itinerary and talents!

Family life is busy and hectic! There is usually a lot going on...but together we have fun!
There are many trails and parks and lots of outside time day and evening.

We ask to zoom and video chat with you so we can get to know each other better before the exchange and get many of the questions answered.

If it works for you to add a cultural-exchange with us while on your trip then great!

    Wishing you Fun Travels!
    Susan

What is always welcome? Having a positive attitude about the world and sharing your stories!
Everyone has something to share. Maybe you play an instrument, draw/paint, write or make videos, play sports, run/hike, cook/bake.
    This is a cultural-exchange homestay.
There is no job or work.
The boys are in college and Fluffy the dog is a senior.
You are part of the family while here. Please pitch in with daily household activities inside and outside of the house...just like you do at home!

Typically, we like to get the meals prepared and house organized so that after lunch there is free time to go out and explore and enjoy! However, family schedule and weather usually determines the daily activities.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have met wonderful travelers who stop to sightsee in our area of the Bay Area called the East Bay which is about an hour from the city San Francisco.
There are museums in the area and different things to see and do, many walking trails and parks. There is a city bus that goes to many areas and to the BART train system to all of the Bay Area.
We will more than likely include you in many things we do so please join us if you like. There are local colleges to visit and several cute downtowns via bus or bart.
We are happy to help with English language learning!

Please note that we would like to video chat via Zoom with you before your visit so we can get to know each other better and make sure to get many questions answered.

Thanks so much and Best to you on your travels!
