Description
Hello everybody,
we are a happy little family of 4 - Magdalena and Cay with our lovely daughters (3 and 1 year(s) old). We live in Freiburg, the sunniest place in Germany :).
Our life is based on happiness, respect, equality, and a nice balance of family time and (wage) work.
In our daily life we divide the responsibilties of childcare, (wage) work and household tasks equally. Both of us are pedagogues, Cay is a primary school teacher in an alternative school and Magdalena is a trainer for antidiscrimination and social diversity. We both love our jobs and we love to spend a lot of time with our children.
For us it is very important not only to have a fulfilled everyday life, but also to consider bigger dreams and a life beyond the daily routine. Voluntary work, international exchange and the commitment against discrimination are very important values for us. For this reason we also want our children to learn to value and respect people from all over the world.
Welcoming international volunteers into our home is one small step towards a more friendly, open minded and peaceful world. Therefore we want to invite you to stay with us for some days and turn our daily life into very special moments.
We have limited space in our flat so that we prefer to host volunteers just for some days up to two weeks.Types of help and learning opportunities

Freiburg has a beautiful old town and very charming districts. It is located close to the black forest („Schwarzwald“) on one side and the wine-growing region called „Kaiserstuhl“ on the other side. Also France and Switzerland are pretty close.
Apart from the locality, we hope to share nice moments of daily life with you and exchange experiences, ideas and inspirations. We can offer you an insight into our family life which is based on equality, the permanent reflection of gender roles and the respect and appreciation of each other. We also have a good insight into pedagogical topics and are interested in (alternative) educational systems in other countries.
Besides we like to cook and bake, play card or board games, we try to plant at least some small vegetables on the balcony :) and spend a lot of time outside while exploring the neighbourhood with our children.Projects involving children

Help
For us it is always helpful if there is another person around to support by playing with our kids, preparing food or helping with some small tasks or building projects in the household.
It won't be difficult tasks and you can decide what you feel comfortable with.
Regarding our children and also the work from Magdalena, it would be great if you could teach us children games, songs and rhymes in your language and/or bring children books from your home.
We as a family have an important connection to South America (especially Ecuador) and we would love to welcome people who could speak Spanish with our children and with us :).
As we have limited space in our flat, we prefer to host volunteers just for some days up to two weeks.Languages spoken

You can sleep in our living room on a bed sofa, where you will definitely have your privacy in the evening and night. During the day our children like to play in this room, but we will find a good arrangement for the use of this room.
You are very welcome to eat together with us. We love to prepare food and we spend a lot of time on cooking and eating 😊. With our children we have very regulated eating times and we cook with fresh and usually organic ingredients. Twice a week we buy vegetables and fruits at a beautiful outdoor farmers‘ market which is very close to our home. We try to buy a lot of the other ingredients at a plastic-free grocery store. Most of us are vegetarians and we don’t prepare meat at home. But for us it is fine if you do it for yourself. What else ...
We live very close to the train station, so it's easy to arrive and also a good starting point for trips around Freiburg (maybe to the black forest, the "Kaiserstuhl" or Alsace (France)). It's a nice region for hiking or biking or winter sports (in winter, of course).
Freiburg's lovely city centre is also very close and you can walk there to enjoy this nice old town.A little more information

We spent some very nice days together and enjoyed to walk around Freiburg, eat Japanese food, read children books and have interesting conversations. Dear Yuino, you are welcome back anytime!
