Description
Experience farm living out in the country with us in majestic southern Chile.
We are childhood sweethearts who have been happily married for many decades, originally from Southern California, the beautiful Oregon Coast for 20 years and down here for ten years and for the balance of our lives.
We both have always been hard workers but at the end of the day it’s time for fun, laughter, music (gringo), wine, the national beverage, pisco sour and of course, good food.
It is always fun to share life's experiences and stories with our guests from different countries of the world. We have hosted 33 couchsurfers and Workawayers from 23 countries and always enjoyed the cultural exchange with them.Types of help and learning opportunities

Having ten years living experience in our adopted country, our cultural exchange to share will be our perception of Chile through the eyes of U.S. expats. Most of our friends are from Chile and other Latin American countries offering wonderful insights into this warm and friendly culture. We can share some of the traditions, food and beverages found in this interesting corner of the world.
Help
We have several acres in the south of Chile that we are restoring back to its natural state with native vegetation to offer the wildlife a safe clean environment in which to live.
We are removing invasive plants brought here originally by the Spaniards and later by the Germans. We will resume planting native vegetation towards the end of autumn. We need help installing an irrigation system. Utilizing the running water on the property, we now have our first seasonal frog pond complete with tadpoles and now frogs!Languages

We will share our English and hopefully you can offer to improve our rather poor Spanish.Accommodation
We offer a nice private comfortable bedroom and your own bathroom. We will be happy to share meals and beverages. You will have access to the kitchen but as we are vegetarians, no meat or fish is to be cooked.
This a tobacco free home.What else ...
We live 25 Km. down a beautiful road following a huge lake from Puerto Varas, out into the country. There is a bus that runs every 20 minutes a short walk from our house with a covered bus stop, yes, it rains a lot here. We rent a comfortable farmhouse on an active sheep farm surrounded with a beautiful garden and a majestic view of Volcan Osorno, and the Andes mountains.
The lake, Lago Llanquihue, is less than one Km from here and offers, in addition to it's beauty, swimming, windsurfing, fishing and kayaking. We don't fish but do have two nice kayaks we can share.
Snowboarding/skiing on Osorno is 30 minutes away, trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing, white water rafting, fishing and cycling are popular here and can be experienced nearby.
We are nature lovers who live a simple, happy life shared with dear friends from all points of the compass. We are vegetarian and generally follow a healthy diet, but can't resist some of the local desserts and other treats found here, life's too short.
If you should find this lifestyle something you wish to continue, it maybe possible to have a long term or even a permanent experience.A little more information
