I have been staying with Peter and Alan for almost a month and I have really enjoyed my stay. You will have your own bed and bathroom which are spacious and clean. The two main jobs I have had were taking care of the garden and painting fences. The working hours were form 9am to 1pm and never once was I expected to work any longer. In your free
… read more time you could either hang around the house in the beautiful Irish countryside or take the bicycle to the pub or one of the small villages in the area. Often either Peter or Alan will drive into Kilkenny and you are always free to join them if you want to. Kilkenny is a beautiful little city where you can get everything you need and it has got trains that go directly to Dublin and Waterford. However what made my stay most enjoyable were Peter and Alan themselves. Not only will they provide you with everything you need including some delicious self made meals but they are also great company, will introduce you into Irish culture and do their best to make you have a good time while staying with them. The five stars I can give them in this review don't even do them justice. So if you don't mind staying in a relatively quiet place in the countryside I can only highly recommend a stay with Peter and Alan.
In this review I won't go into the relationship that was formed with Alan and Peter and I don't want to be swayed by this in my judgement, because when it was my turn to look for a host family on workaway, my focus was on what would actually await me once I got there.

… read more nowhere: Alan and Peter provide their excellent bicycles to get to the nearby town of Gowran in a few minutes, where you can find a small bar and a few pubs. At the same time, both Alan and Peter do their best to make themselves available, giving a lift in the car to Kilkenny (there's everything there!). Clearly they are not an on-demand taxi, so I recommend common sense and timing to make arrangements 😁
Food: Once home, I found in Peter and Alan two super young people, always ready to joke, able to make you feel at home. For food I never had to ask for anything, Peter provided much more than was necessary and I very often (if not always) had the pleasure of eating with them.
Accommodation: thanks to them I sincerely experienced the house as if I felt at home, having no fear or embarrassment in behaving as I do at home. This was an added bonus because the room they provide has all the amenities with a super comfortable and spacious bed. I even had my own bathroom which was so nice that I felt like I was in a hotel. Needless to say, the house as a whole is super cosy and spotlessly clean.
Lastly, as far as tasks are concerned, in my experience I helped Peter on a daily basis (excluding weekends of course) with various chores to take care of their gardens and lawns, so: planted plants, cut the grass, tidied up some spaces where they needed some space, and lent a small hand with a business they run at the local market, helping in the kitchen and general washup. Needless to say, it has always been a pleasure to do these activities, they have never remotely taken even 1 minute more of my time than was agreed.

I stayed two month with Peter and Alan in the middle of Kilkennys rural countryside.
Not only, that they provided me with a wonderful room including your own bathroom but also with delicious meals. They also introduced me to Ireland's rich culture and history. I enjoyed my time over there and visited many culturally important places in Ireland.

I mainly worked in the big garden and took care of the lawn mowing and other tasks like trimming hedges, clearing shrubs. However, I also was trusted with tasks like painting sheds and room on their estate. In my free time I took the bike to the next village for a coffee or visited the neighbors which are mainly friendly cows. There is also a cosy pub in the area which i liked to visit on multiple occasions. If you like a calm and rural experience in Ireland Peters and Alans place is the right one for you.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Jakob was absolutely fantastic workawayer - we already miss him! He had incredible energy for work - nothing we asked was too much trouble; and he always had great ideas to offer. We as hosts learned a lot about Jakob's part of Germany from him - it really was a cultural exchange. We enjoyed showing Jakob our part of Ireland, and we hope he got

Well, how can I start? The experience was incredible, amazing and positive. I had never done this before. Is the first time that I traveled alone to another country without any friends, just alone. So, I decided to stay in Ireland 38 days for learning English, learning about the new culture and disconnect my mind from routine. I had 22 years and
… read more it was during the summer during my holidays. But, before starting explaining my story, I’m going to explain why I chose Ireland. The first reason is the food. Because 3 years ago more and less I stayed in England two times and the food was horrible… so never again. The other reason is that the people from England are very unhappy and sometimes very stretched…
Now, you know a little bit more about why I chose Ireland . So, let’s start.
The first day I arrived in Ireland and Peter picket me up. We took his “caddy” car and then we went to the house, he explains me all the things. The house is in a beautiful and peaceful part of Ireland. Is white and big. The house has two levels and is very well decorated. Also, you have meadow and field in arounds. You will have a private room with your own bathroom. If you want to stay in calm and peaceful place this the correct chose, is fantastic!
Then, you have a great city very close, called Kilkenny. Also, you have Gowran, Bennettsbridge, Thomastown…
When I was there, I pick his bike and I cycled to the arounds.
My work was building two polytunnels and give a hand in the garden. Also, I give a hand in the Peter Restaurant. The food is so nice.
Alan & Peter accompanied me to visit the most important places of Ireland. For example, the Cliff of Moher, Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny city, Rock of Cashel, Malahide, Skerries ….
Also, I went with a bus to Cork and Galway by my own. All the places are very nice. And I recommended to go.
One day we organized a big BBQ with their friends. Peter & Alan present me the people from the BBQ and then I met a new and good people . The food was incredible and delicious. Good music and good environment.
I can’t explain all the places and all the experience that I did. But I will like to say that if you like the nature, the calm and peaceful atmosphere, the good food and the nice people you must go to Clash Williams.
Alan and Peter want you to feel at home. They are a happy and active couple. They are a very good people. So, you must visit Ireland and this part of the Island :blush:You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
