    Description

I am Marilyne and I have two boys, Loup is 10 and Morel is 5. I speak french as my mother tongue but we speak english at home. I have dogs and and cats. We live in the forest up a mountain on a land COOP that we share with 6 other people. I am very remote from everyone in the COOP. It is a very quiet place and we are surrounded by beautiful wild nature. The house is off grid and on solar energy. I am interested in applying permaculture principles to my DYI projects.

I am looking to find helpers that can assist us (me and my kids lol) with refining our home so it is more comfortable and convenient for everyone visiting. I want help creating spaces for people to live on the land, teepees, tiny homes, outdoor kitchen, bath house, etc. I have a few projects that will need completing this summer fall. Here is a couple: build a roof over outhouse, finish the root cellar outside wall, cord wood style. I am starting to play with wood and have gathered lots of wood working tools. I would love to do my windowsills and the finish of my house.

I like to build things from scratch (cut the tree down and peel it to build an outhouse for example). It all takes time, but is so rewarding especially when we work together as a team. I also have access to a tractor to make some the tasks easier.
Come meet us if you want to learn about off grid mountain living and building and fixing things at low cost. There is lots of room to camp on the land and long term can be a possibility. There is a teepee set up already. I am welling to share my house and food. There is internet.
Living off grid is fun and requires a lot of smart thinking on what the next step is going to be. I think now I need more people to share this beautiful land with. I also simply can't do it on my own very well. ahaha
    Together we are stronger!

This is very unique place to live. It is rustic, quiet and with nature all around. Anyone living here will learn much about DYI projects, wild crafting, food preparation (fermenting veggies, bread making, fermented drinks). This great opportunity for stewarding the land while applying permaculture principles and doing all that with others.
There is lots to learn about forestry, gardening. I am also very active my in self care and spiritual growth (community dances, fasting, vision questing, reading material..) . I attend sweat lodges every month and different also types of ceremonies and the workaway can possibly come along if the interest is there.

I will be in need of a house sitter from June 8th till sometime in July, 2024

    The grand projects:
I am finishing building a root cellar and an outhouse and would love some help with that.
There is lots of chain saw tasks to do around here to thin the woods out a little and build trails and collecting firewood. I started tanning hides and have a bunch waiting to be worked on.
I am wanting to organize things and tools around to make more room for the next projects.
I can use some help with my home schooled boys, playing with them, teaching them stuff, making food.
I am also renovating my house, doing the window sills.
I have a quad that needs love.
    ETC
I am very flexible about what the helper does here. I want everyone to feel inspired and choose their own projects because they want to learn more about it or are simply talented and willing. There is so many to choose from....

I also know my small community very well and if the work away needs to make money, I could find them jobs here and there...

I have a teepee to sleep in. I also have smaller tents and I would also share my house. We can move into the teepee me and my boys (we love camping!) I have an outdoor oven to cook on as well as an outside bath set up. I am very flexible with camping options but I do not have a visitor cabin built yet. Long term living situation is a possibility for the right people.
It happens that I need a house sitter and could have the house to yourself also.

I live in a small rural community with very alternative people. There is a couple restaurants and stores. The Slocan river is beautiful and you can swim (people like to float it with little boats). We like to go to Slocan lake, 20 minutes north of Winlaw. There are lots to do here so if you have any questions about the place just message me and I can guide you with information. Nelson and Castlegar town are both 40 minutes away.
My house is way up the road from town (about 10 minutes going up). Biking down is easy but coming up is a chore! I can always pick you up from there. I have bikes and a car I don't mind lending to good drivers. We have buses that go to Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan from Winlaw. People hitch hike a lot around here....
