Description
Our unique acreage is perched on the western edge of the Canadian Rocky Mountains; we are a 10 minute drive from Golden, a town just west of Banff & Yoho National Parks.
Your hosts are a younger to middle aged couple, no kids, one old dog. We like hiking, river dips, lawn games & disc golf, going to live music, exploring and having fun on our free time. One of us has a job in town during the week days while the other has downsized work commitments so we can focus more on what's really important, enjoying this beautiful place we call home.
We have various ongoing projects at any given time but most help is required in the gardens as well as with housekeeping and preparing meals, so we can only take people who are experienced, capable and self-motivated in these three areas, namely:
GARDENING, CLEANING & COOKING
Of course there might be other things like firewood, painting, etc to help with as well.
We are not a business, meaning we do not sell any produce and all help is for our private consumption and use only.
Vegetarian/Vegan- honestly, not the place for you. We eat meat and must do so year round, so we cannot take on anyone who does not also partake. Most of our meat is farmed, fished or hunted locally & ethically, but animal products make up a large part of our everyday cooking.
Days off are usually over the weekend but we're flexible and will send you to the parks during the week if you want to explore at less busy times; sometimes we'll head out for an adventure but not always, so having a vehicle of your own is ideal anyway, as public transportation is limited or non-existent in our area.
It is possible to stay and enjoy Golden without a vehicle as we are on a main bus route from Calgary to Vancouver and you can come with us on town trips and adventures when they happen.
Please note, Golden sits in one of the biggest wetland areas in North America, meaning we have lots of mosquitoes. If you are particularly sensitive to them, we don't recommend staying here.
Please reach out, as we have limited space to host so we only take those who demonstrate that they would be a great fit for what we have to offer and what we're looking for in return.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have limited French and Spanish skills, love chatting and cooking with people from all over the world and enjoy good company while working on our house and property.
If you are ready to help with whatever needs doing, then we're the place for you, with a little piece of adventure thrown in on the weekends to take some time off to explore this iconic part of the world, as we love being out in nature in general.
Extra skills, please reach out to discuss with your hosts; we are always happy to have additional expertise around for our more specialized projects and dreams list:
Greenhouse or Sauna
We've had workawayers for a few seasons now, but have been hosting friends, family and guests for years and look forward to meeting more good people along the way. We have limited capacity, so please let us know why you would be a great fit!Help
Staying with us is best suited for those who enjoy, are proficient and self-motivated in the following:
Cooking, Cleaning & Household Chores
Gardening: Weeding, Maintenance & Harvesting
You could also be asked to help with ongoing painting, firewood, etc.
Also best if you like dogs; ours lives in the house and mostly on the couch.
We would love to host someone who has experience building greenhouses!Languages spoken

There are two rustic cabins, one with a queen bed and one with a bunk bed. (Queen bed cabin shown in photos)
You will be provided one of these cabins based on availability during your stay.
An outdoor living area is provided with limited amenities by the rustic cabins, including an outhouse (bathroom), drinking water, BBQ, fire pit, amazing views of the mountains and river all just steps from our private wooded trails down to the river.
The house bathroom and kitchen will be shared with your hosts during your stay; we ask you to be respectful and limit your bathroom use as much as possible, as we only have one. There is an outhouse by the rustic cabins that should be used as much as possible during your stay. We are happy to share our space but we prefer people who don't occupy it, or who want to spend lots of time on computers/phones. We are looking for people who like chatting, cooking and generally trying to enjoy each other's company; we have lots of games that we like to play- board games, lawn games, etc.
The house kitchen is well set up to be shared and we encourage you to spend a lot of time on the deck, as it's a lovely spot.
Please note, Golden sits in one of the biggest wetland areas in North America, meaning we have lots of mosquitoes. If you are particularly sensitive to them, we do not recommend staying here. What else ...
Transportation is limited in this neck of the woods and we recommend you purchase a vehicle to get the most out of your stay and days off; daily commuting trips to town available based on your hosts work schedule, typically Monday-Thursday.
Bus transportation is available, but limited; check well in advance if this is how you plan to travel.A little more information

I spent 10 days with this beautiful couple as their first Workawayer last year in June, and I completely forgot to leave a feedback, as I'm still travelling around the world.

thank you for the incredibly nice time!
I spent almost 3 weeks at this workaway and would like to come back at any time.
I helped with Jocelyn and Leonard's sister Lisa with, for example, cutting the fence line or cutting firewood.
I also slept in a beautiful little wooden hut.
In addition to work, Jocelyn and… read more
