    Description

    Hello!

We have just agreed to host a lovely French girl until Christmas so for 2024, we no longer need support. We would be delighted to hear from you if you are interested in travelling in early Jan 2025.

Please send us a message if you have any questions or would like to chat about coming to stay.

We'd really love someone who is outgoing, motivated and ready to get stuck into family life straight away. We are a busy family and would love for someone to join us and be able to slot in quickly. While we love our down time, we don't spend a lot of time lounging so would ideally love someone who is eager to explore and take advantage of everything our beautiful little town has to offer.

We are a family of 5 looking for help with childcare in beautiful Castletownbere, West Cork.

We have been hosting Workaways since 2018 and have loved it and met some really good friends. We last hosted someone in August 2021. Unfortunatley, our little boy was born extremely prematurely on the 7th of August and our lives were turned upside down! Thankfully, after an extended stay in hospital, he is now home and doing well. During that time we switched off from everything, including the workaway emails and messages so apologies to anyone who messaged us during that time. But we are back and excited to welcome some new workaways to our home and our family.

Ellie turned 11 in September, Casey is 8 and Tom Óg (Irish for young Tom) is 3 since August. Due to his prematurity, he is more like a 1.5 year old at the moment in terms of his development. Ellie and Casey are in school Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm from September to June. They get the bus to and from school approx 7 minute walk from our home. Tom, my husband works full time in the town, 2km from our house. Claire works 5 days per week in the town also. We are a very busy family with lots of activities in the evenings and weekends so someone who is happy to fall into a fast paced environment and be happy to explore independently is ideal for us.

We are a family of 5 looking for someone to join our little family to help us out with childcare and housework. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, active and confident with exploring the local area independently in their free time. As our lives are very busy, we really want someone who will easily fit in and be proactive about exploring. We are very involved in sports and are out alot of evenings/weekends at matches or training. When our sport and activites are not happening, we are home more often in the evenings. We are hoping for someone who will fit into our lifestyle and to help us with caring for the children and help us to keep our home neat and tidy. We are very easygoing and have thoroughly enjoyed our Workaway experience so far. We have definitely made some life long friends!

The ideal person will fit in with our family dynamic but also enjoy doing things for themselves and be proactive about getting out and about and meeting new people. The best experiences we've had have been with people who immersed themselves in our area and got involved locally in different activities. We love to share our home and time with people but also recognise and appreciate the need for time for us as a family.

We are interested in having someone to help for both days and evenings during the week and some weekends. We are very happy to facilitate set days off or days away to travel explore etc as required.

It is an ideal place for people interested in nature, photography, walking/hiking or cycling. We will provide a bicycle and helmet for all your exploring. We live 11 miles from the only cable car in Ireland and there is a Buddist Retreat centre close by also. It really is a gorgeous area. West cork is fantastic for travelling also. Our kids are energetic, outgoing and well mannered. We live in a 5 bedroom house outside of Castletownbere where there is a wide variety of nationalities.

You will have your own room with internet access and lots of free time. If you have any questions, please ask us. We look forward to talking to you.

We will provide accommodation and food and a home away from home. If there are any special dietary requirement we may ask u to provide some of these yourself. But lets talk about it. We live in a fishing port right on the sea which is very popular with tourists. Its a beautiful part of the world. We are a very active outgoing family. We spend lots of time with our extended family and so it really will be like having another family.

We are looking for help with childcare and housework. Ellie and Casey both attend school until 3pm. Tom Óg is currently cared for by his Nana on Monday's and is at home on the other days. Tom Óg will attend preschool 5 mornings per week from Sept.
Both Ellie and Casey have lots of activities and the house is generally quiet busy. So we would really love someone who has lived independently previously, or had responsibilities at home around housework and cooking and has great initiative. We love people who see that something needs to be done and just does it. It's incredibly helpful to us. Our lives are very full and we'd love someone who can fit in easily and not create additional work for us.

During the summer month, July and August, we will require additional help as the kids are off school.
We would love the kids to experience a different culture too as we do not get alot of oppourtunity to go abroad. We have been hosting workaway's since September 2018. We had a lovely German girl, Elaine, stay with us for 3 months, Michela, who we miss greatly, came from Italy and stayed with us for 5 months. We then had 2 fantastic French girls, Lea and LIse, who stayed with us until the beginning of August. Sophia from Switzerland stayed with us for three weeks, Else from Holland was with us for 3 months and is missed by not just us but alot of people in our town. The lovely Asia from France was with us until the end of February. Celina from Germany was with us until the mid March and unfortunately had to return home due to the borders closing because of Covid. Marie from France joined us for 6 weeks in June. Johanna from Germany stayed for 6 weeks also and was an absolute pleasure. Andrea from Germany stayed with us from September until the end of October. She was an amazing girl and friend to us. She celebrated our wedding with us and really integrated into family life very easily. Ayumi, from Japan, has been with us since November. She had left to join another family in January. Our plans for January fell through and Ayumi returned to us immediately. She is great fun, very kind and patient and the kids adore her. She loves walking and has really made the most of our beautiful area. Desiree then joined us for a few weeks before Ayumi returned to us again. Since October 2021, when Ayumi left us, we hadn't hosted anyone else until this December. Anna stayed with us for 3 weeks and was fantastic. Sandra from Germany was with us from the end of January until the beginning of April and has reinvigorated our love for hosting workaways! Lotte joined us at the start of May and will stay until mid July. Anna from Germany stayed with us from early August until the end of September. Lena from Czech Republic was with until mid December, she really made the most from exploring our area and made some great friends as a result! Maddie from France stayed with is from Jan to late Feb, she became part of the family very quickly!
We have had a fantastic experience and have made some great friends!
