    Description

    Hello

My name is Anna and I live in Tuscany with my teen girl Marta who is now 13.
This is our first experience with Workaway and we are happy to host people from around the world at our place.
I've been travelling a lot and living in different places, so I love to have a nice international vibe at my place.
Seven years ago, we moved from Milan to the Tuscan countryside to live around nature.

Meanwhile, I separated from Marta's father and we are now good neighbors and friends. He lives on the same property in an independent house.

I am looking for outgoing and flexible folks who love a natural lifestyle and can do some handy work (helping with gardening, pruning, painting, fixing shelves, etc).

We live in a wonderful place called Camaiore. It is on the Via Francigena (the Medieval pilgrims' road that connects Canterbury to Rome). Our home is immersed in the woods in a 5-acres family property: our house is an old-time stoned barn, that has just been renovated.

I'm a journalist and a creative entrepreneur. I still mantain my career, travelling to big cities when needed, while living in a very simple way.
I love trekking in the surrounding area, going to the river to have a cold bath, cooking with friends, meeting new people, doing yoga, exploring new places, experimental education, the ocean, reading under a tree and having Marta and her friends at home.

This is why I'm looking for people who are positive and can be in good armony with kids.
Camaiore and the surrounding area is a place that attracts artists from around the world. So, I think it would be a perfect place for people who love art.

Since I moved recently to this new house, your main task would be helping me with some handy job.

At the moment, I'm looking for one volunteer and I can offer you a bedroom with private bathroom and a kitchenette. The house is provided with wifi.
My mothertongue is Italian and I speak English, German and French.
We have a garden and I love cooking using fresh vegetables. Also, I'd be happy to learn new recipes from your country.

Our daily schedule is very simple: Marta goes to school at 8 in the morning and she's back at 3.30 in the afternoon. I work on a flexible basis, since my work varies during the year.

I look for a person who can help me for 4-5 hours a day. We can plan together our schedule on a daily basis and I encourage you to be honest about what you like/don't like, so that the atmosphere in the house can be positive and open.

On your free time, there is plenty of things to do. You can visit art towns like Pisa, Lucca and Florence, go hiking, meditating in the nature, go to the beach, visit Cinque Terre, the marble quarries in Carrara, or read a book and relax in the nature around the house.
According to my artists' friends, our place is also very inspiring for those who are in the creative world and love to find a place to write, playing an instrument, paint or doing creative work.

We can arrange hospitality according to our mutual needs, from one week to a month or so. Please, feel free to write and we can discuss it together.
    Thank you!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I have been working for many years in the art and cultural world. So, I am happy to share stories and experiences.
Also, I'd like to introduce you to this wonderful area of Tuscany and give you tips to plan trips during your free time.

Culture can be a lot of things here: food tasting, olive oil making or visiting a waterfall and be astonished by its idyllic beauty.
Also, if you are into personal growth and spirituality, I can introduce you to different places where you can find what you look for, from meditation to sweatlodges.

If you would like to learn Italian, we can organise a mutual language exchange.

    Reaching us is very simple:
you can arrive by flight at Pisa Airport via Ryan Air/Easy jet or by train to Viareggio Central Station (20 min).

We live 20 minutes from Viareggio that is very well connected through the national train system. From there you can easily reach Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Cinque Terre, Genoa, Milan, Roma.

Camaiore is the nearest town (only 5 min on foot): it is a nice Medieval village and here you can find shops, grocery stores, post office, bank, cafes, restaurants and a library.
Camaiore is an important destination for the pilgrims of the Via Francigena and this is why, mainly in summer, you can see many backpackers walking around.

Pietrasanta (20 minutes) is an art town. There you can find important art galleries, beautiful shops and fancy restaurants. Unfortunately, it is becoming more expensive that it used to be... but there are still a few places where you can go and enjoy an aperitivo.

The sea is about 20 minutes away and you can reach it by bus.
