Description
Hello my name is Stephen and with my partner Kerry are the owners of Stonemeal farm, a 700 acre sheep property.
We are situated on the stunning South coast of Western Australia, only half an hour from Albany one of the oldest towns in WA with beautiful coast lines, breathtaking white beaches and natural forests.
Our philosophy and vision was to create a farming system that was not only protecting our natural ecosystem but creating a sustainable farming ecosystem as well. In order to achieve this the farming system must be as biodiverse as possible and improve the overall productivity of the farm, particularly compared to the currant chemical farming practices. We are proud to say Stonemeal farm is a thriving, living example of this sustainable farming ecosystem.
We produce Merino wool and prime lambs without the uses of broad acre pesticides and have extensive plantings of oak and other trees to produce fodder (acorns) for the sheep .Our family home we designed and built as solar passive using stone and other local materials.
Where passionate about growing healthy food, eating seasonally, preserving and cooking with all our own produce and sharing with others.
We are looking for help on our farm and in the garden and more than willing to pass on our experience and knowledge also. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about sustainability, our farming practice, self-sufficiency and home building,
Our hobbies include gardening, growing interesting trees (of which we have many), camping and exploring our natural areas.Types of help and learning opportunities
