I spent 3 weeks working for Ken and it was such a pleasure!
His place and artwork are really special and inspiring, and the Dingle peninsula is of overwhelming beauty! However, everybody considering to go there should be aware of the area being pretty remote, there is no public transport at all; the next village, Ballyferriter, is a 20min walk
… read more away and Dingle a 15min drive by car. But Ken does regular trips to Dingle and can give you a lift. Hitchhiking is an option too.
The work mainly consists of collecting, varnishing and drilling stones which I enjoyed a lot, it's not hard at all, you get into it quickly and it's kind of calming.
Ken is a wonderful host, easy going and flexible, he'll always try to make the best out of it for everyone. I definetely recommend staying there.
Sorry for the very delayed review, Ken, and thanks for everything, especially supporting my arts project for university!! Hope everything goes well for you! Best wishes, TaraYou can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I stayed with Ken for two months in Autumn and have nothing but positive things to report!! Ken's house and studio are situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. There are breathtaking beaches, hills, and mountains to be explored in every direction.
Ken is a talented artist and I helped him in his studio with slate washing,
… read more varnishing, and other tasks to ensure his art products were ready to be sold. I found the work therapeutic and enjoyable. Ken was flexible about when I completed my work, so if the surf was good in the morning, I could do the work in the evening.
From the moment I moved in, I felt relaxed and at home. Ken made some delicious meals and myself and the other workaways took turns to do the same.
I arrived to Ballyferriter feeling stressed and in need of a break from the rat race and having stayed there for two months I felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated.
I highly recommend Ken as a Workaway host. He is welcoming, kind, laid-back, funny and a talented artist! Thank you Ken!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

My stay with Ken has been absolutely life-changing. I had planned initially to stop in Ballyferriter for a month and then move on to Bantry on the south coast, but then, having found that the work and the community suited me so well, I decided to revise my itinerary and remain here as long as I was able- first until mid-July, when I was

I've got my own bedroom and free roam of the house, my housemate, on loan from Moscow, is lovely and patient and helpful, the work itself is engaging and relatively light, and Ken himself couldn't be more accommodating. Ballyferriter is a leisurely 20 minute walk away, and Dingle, the town proper, around 30 minutes by car- and countryside on its own is well worth a look. Five stars. I was with Ken for only 10 days even if the original agreements were different. Anyway I found a special place, exactly what I was hoping for. The location is beautiful: the new selfbuilding house with all of basic comforts and the workshop with materials and instruments sourronded by hills that you can't never forget, a really kind and lovely

I helped Ken with the collection of stones and a little bit with the building of the house's extension. He showed me how to work with the slate and gave me the possibility to make a sculpture to take home, we went also to the pub with a friend, Laura and I had time to walk all around from the hills to the beautiful beaches always passing through the pretty village Ballyferriter (20 minutes by foot, 30 minutes by car to Dingle). If you love art and nature, you'll want to come back soon, like me! Thanks Ken.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Ken certainly has a piece of paradise, tucked away on the edge of Ballyferriter. I had the pleasure of being there and working with him and another volunteer for three weeks. If you get the opportunity to work with him - do it!!!! The work load was pretty relaxed but there's always something to be done, so it definitely depends on you. This place
