Description
I’m Babs from Bern in Switzerland living in Costa Rica since a few years. I have a little camping and a house to rent at the caribbean beach. My permanent employees are all locals, since I want to support the local communities. I’m always looking for volunteers since we are still buliding small cabins and working on organizing tours for our guests. As it is a campsite there is always something to do. :)

Live the simple life in paradise. Since I only work with locals there are always people around and you will have the oportunity to get to know the life of the locals and practice your Spanish. If you like dogs, you will have a lot of time to play with my 6 dogs and have fun on the beach.

I can offer you a tent with a comfortable mattress, pillow, sheets diretly at the beach or a cabin closer to the house and the sanitary facilities. If you want you can also build yourself a cabin to stay in. We have an open kitchen where I cook 3 meals a day for my employees and the volunteers. If you are not a fan of what I cook, feel free to cook your meals yourself (but then with your own groceries). We have two clean toilets and four showers with cold water (2 showers are in the open).
What else ...
We are located on a quite beach close to Penshurt. The beach you will only share with the camping guests or if there are with other volunteers. The busstation is a 15min walk away. To get here take the bus from Limon to Sixaola and ask the busdriver to stop close to Penshurt at Villa Calina (he will know where). From there you walk the street along the beach for around 15 min. There is a lot to do here. Visit the National Park of Cahuita or Manzanillo, the nearby sloth sanctuary or the jaguar rescue center, walk to the different waterfalls close to Bribri, visit the small beach towns Cahuita or Puerto Viejo or book a chocolate or a coconut oil tour. Or just relax in the hammock on the beach and read a good book. :) I also have stand up paddle boards which you can use for a tour on the river right next to the property.

Thank youuu!
It was a pleasure to stay at Barbaras Campsite and I enjoyed the open-hearted, caring and chill atmosphere the most! I was allowed to sleep in my own room in the main house, to use the kitchen and to feel pretty much at home. There are always things to do like cleaning the kitchen, house and tents,… read more
