Description
Hi Workawayers!
we are looking for lovely people in September/October to support us with renovations, gardening and daily life tasks.
In the heart of the beautiful black forest in the southwest of Germany, there is a large house full of joy, life and energy. The house is located in Bürchau, a relatively isolated village of about 200 inhabitants. The first shops are about fifteen minutes away by car. At the moment we are a group of 5 people living together in a former mountain hotel with 900m² of living space and a garden of 2000m². We moved in April 2022, bought the house in September 2022 and are now immersed in many exciting and creative projects!
-> development of an educational center focused on solidarity, ecology and alternative lifestyles
-> development of a regenerative vegetable garden
-> development of living spaces inside and outside the house
-> organization of cultural events and parties
-> harmonization and deepening of community life
We want to see our community grow, our projects develop and our fundamental values spread as much as possible. Solidarity, ecology and diversity are not just theoretical concepts for us, but tend to be implemented on a daily basis to reach our ultimate goal: a good life for everyone.
Come and visit us to contribute to the blooming of our projects and have a great time in our community!Types of help and learning opportunities

- Enjoy the energy of a dynamic group
- Make new friends
And here is a list of areas where you can possibly learn something:
- Mechanisms and functioning of the "Mietshäuser Syndikat" (literally 'apartment-house syndicate'). It is a cooperative, non-commercial joint venture in Germany that helps communities acquire long-term affordable living space via a legal, collective property arrangement.
- Decision-making according to the principles of sociocracy
- Instruments for harmonizing community life and conflict management
- Economy for the Common Good
- Ecological gardening
- Identification, collection and consumption of wild herbs and mushrooms
- Yoga, meditation
- Practicing your languages with native speakers: German, Germanic dialect and Berlin dialectProjects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We need your help to develop the projects listed above! There are two possible ways to do this, which can ideally be combined:
- on the one hand you can support us directly with your skills, abilities and areas of expertise
- on the other hand you can support us indirectly by taking care of the daily chores and tasks that living in a community in a big house implies: cooking, cleaning, taking care of the garden or the children.
We are at the beginning of the development phase of our activities, which means that we need flexibility and room for new ideas. Your imagination and creative spirit are welcome! We are open to all kinds of support, but we are particularly looking forward to receiving expertise in the following areas: maintenance and repair of all kinds, interior and exterior design, ecological resource management, architecture, photography and media creation, website development, construction skills, DIY...Languages
