Description
Hey my name is Selim from Tunis Tunisia . I was travelling around asia for more than 3 years and spent most of my time there Cycling and volunteering with workaway . I ve done a lot of workaway experiences in so many different countries like Malaysia , Thailand , Laos , Cambodia , Vietnam , Philippines , Japan , South Korea , Myanmar , Sri Lanka , Indonesia , India .. and that s why I was chosen from the workaway team to become one of their ambassadors ( I m also on workaway TV ) . Now I think it s time to give back to our workaway community and become a good host for travellers visiting Tunisia . Like I mentioned before I was cycling in different countries and that s why when I came back home because of the pandemic I decided to create a "cycling club " leading cyclotourism tours around the country . Our main goal is to promote for Tunisians cycling abroad in a nomadic style like I ve done in Asia . In our tours in Tunisia we try to train our group members to get used to harsh conditions while Cycling and leave their comfort zone. We have also other goals like provide bikes for kids to try cycling around our town where I live . We also organise charity events: collecting donations and helping orphelina and SDF people living in the streets .
Now our group is one of the most famous Cycling groups in Tunisia and many people are joining our tours . I m also thinking with cyclists friends to launch a languages club: where kids from our town can learn and practice languages for free.
That s a dream project for me to give back to my town and country and I m sure I ll get your support .
We need people to help with our outdoor small bike cafe where cyclists gather, helping with renting bikes and organising cycling tours. We want to write more blogs and create videos to attract customers. We started also recently selling plants in our shop so we'll be interested to host volunteers helping with the plants .Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You ll learn so much about tunisian culture , learn Arabic and French languages , visit bardo museum just next our home , the Medina of Tunis , enjoy riding bike and joining our usual Cycling tours . For sure you ll have a lot of new friends and learn cook Tunisian food like couscous . You ll get immersed in the real Tunisian culture far from fancy hotels and short-term rentals ..
Help
I m looking for volunteers to help me organizing and promoting our Cycling tours , and especially organizing a languages exchange events for the community.
Really interested in someone who is able to participate in YouTube content creation , filming , editing .. With previous volunteers we created a videos serie and was successful in promoting cycling around Tunis .. it s also an opportunity for them not just to do some work but a nice way to discover the country and its deep culture .. It
We re also looking for someone who can develop our languages club and teach the kids from our town some foreign languages .Languages
Languages spoken
Arabic: Fluent
English: Fluent
French: Fluent
German: Beginner
Korean: BeginnerThis host offers a language exchange
I love learning new languages and studied for many years different ones , I have a goal to be hyperpolyglot so I can be fluent in 6 different languages . As a world traveller and consider myself a world citizen it s the tool to get immersed in different cultures . My life is about travelling , cycling around the world and for sure learning new words everyday to communicate with people on the road .. I ll be happy to help volunteers to learn Arabic , french , English and even some Korean or German .. in Tunisia as a high school students we study 4 languages so a good student supposed to be naturally a polyglot person so don't be shocked meeting Tunisians speaking many foreign languages ..Accommodation
Bed in a shared room. İt's so cheap when you cook by yourself in Tunisia and there are local markets selling cheap fruit and vegetables everywhere, you'll have a kitchen to cook for yourself. You can have free sandwiches and coffee from our restaurant when we are open.
What else ...
Too much to do with your time off . In our town that's 4 km from the heart of Tunis you can visit the museum of bardo , the most famous in the world for its Carthaginian and Roman mosaics (only 2 minutes walk from our place ) visit " ksar Said " an old castle just in front the museum . You can enjoy daily cycling with us , to Medina of Tunis , explore the heart of the city centre , cycle to the seaside marsa , sidi bousaid , lac of Tunis . Tunisia is not that big and has good highways and cheap public transportation so You can also explore other cities , the mountains " ain drahom " north , the Sahara south . For exemple in the south you can visit "tataouin" where they filmed the star wars movie . In the Sahara you can go camping. If you love outdoor activities I can help you so much with that due to my community in social media that can host you in any part of the country .if you re used to long cycling trips you ll be lucky because every weekends we organise long cycling trips for one or two days outside the capital ( mostly more than 100km) .
If you re used enough to cycling we re used to go early morning to "Marsa" and "sidi bousaid " drink a coffee there and when warm swimming , the ride is around 50 km to go there and back , it s kind of our weekday training , in the weekends we go mostly camping using our bike .. Our life and job is about outdoor activities ..A little more information
