    Description

We are a young family with two school age children and one big happy dog.
Jesse works from home, managing a camp catering business and Marissa is a dance and yoga instructor. We are a vegetarian family looking to expand our knowledge of organic gardening and healthy living.
We have traveled extensively and are looking forward to welcoming people from new cultures into our home.

Our newly built house sits on 15 acres of meadow and forest, overlooking hayfields, mountains, and the Salmon River. We finished building our dream home last year, and are excited to continue our work outside with landscaping and gardening. The vegetable garden will be expanded, new raised beds added, and existing beds replanted.

We are a 15 minute drive from downtown Salmon Arm. Our home is clean and spacious, with floor to ceiling windows that let as much of the outdoors in as possible.
We have a guest bedroom with a queen sized loft bed, couch, and wifi access.

For anyone who would like to experience rural living and the Canadian wilderness, within a short drive from a popular tourist destination, our home is perfect. The nearby town of Salmon Arm is located on the beautiful Shuswap lake with plenty of options for swimming, biking, walking, and paddle boarding.
Nestled at the base of Mount Ida, our property backs onto crown land and offers endless possibilities for hiking and reconnecting with nature. At night you are likely to hear coyotes howling, and if you’re an early riser you will often catch the deer grazing in our field. The Salmon River is a 3 minute walk from our house, and many of our summer afternoons are spent there, relaxing at the swimming hole.

We would love to introduce our children to new cultures and languages. We are primarily an English speaking family, but Jesse is also fluent in Indonesian and Marissa can speak some French.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for someone interested in gardening/yard work, helping prepare meals and helping with childcare and light housework.
Garden chores include planting, digging garden beds, watering, weeding, harvesting and mowing.
Any knowledge of vegetarian/vegan cooking would be a huge asset! We enjoy preparing meals together and eating outside as a family whenever possible.
An extra set of hands to help around the house would be extremely helpful as Jesse is often busy with the home business. Kitchen cleanup, vacuuming, general tidying and reading/doing activities with the kids.
