I stayed at Anette and Simon‘s for almost three months, from November until January. I was lucky enough to experience one of the most snowy and cold winters they (and I) had had in about ten years. I lived in my own small house, where you have your own kitchen, beds, sofa and even an electric piano all in one room. I shared it with Stella the cat, the best roommate there is. She is so friendly, social and cute, I miss her very much. But if you stay there alone, without another workawayer, it can get really lonely.
The work consisted mostly of taking care of the animals. Three times a day, I went outside to feed the animals and clean their spaces. Beside that I sometimes had something extra to do, like rake leaves and split firewood. Per day, It‘s not so much work, even though you have only one day off per week. I struggeled a bit with it though, because I think the repetitive work and sticking to a set schedule didn‘t really fit me.
Anette and Simon are really nice, interesting people. I enjoyed eating dinner with them or climbing on the animal houses to push the snow off. When the kids are there, they talk mostly in Norwegian, but Anette and Simon try to include you. They let me leave for one week over christmas, to be with my parents, who visited me.
All in all, it was an experience I am grateful for and I learned a lot. It is a really beautiful and peaceful place on earth <3

Because I was there during the winter it was pretty cold and windy a lot of the time, but seeing the beautiful farm covered in snow and taking care of the very cute and friendly animals made me forget all about that. The work all in all was not too hard and Anette was there to help me out until I got to know all the routines well enough and felt comfortable doing it on my own.
The little house i got to stay in was so beautiful as well. It's seperate from the main house, but it has everything you need and the walls are full of artwork from the previous workawayers. The best thing about it was obviously Stella, the little black cat I got to share the room with. We had lots of cuddles and she even brought me a couple of presents in the form of dead mice, whoohoo!
All in all I had a really great time with Anette, Simon and the kids and got to know a really beautiful part of Norway. I am really greatful for everything I got to experience here and can truly recommend this place to anyone who thinks of doing workaway in Norway!

Anette & Simon, and their family are the kindest and welcoming people. This was my first Workaway, I stayed for 2 months (July and August) and is the best experience you can wish for. They are caring people always with positive energy and a smile.

You get used quickly to the daily care of the animals and always look forward to feeding them as all the chickens, ducks and pigs follow you around. Searching for eggs every morning it will feel like its Easter every day (the chickens are very smart and know where to hide them)! It was also very pleasant to pick up the fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the greenhouse.
From painting, cutting wood with an axe, weeding, picking berries, you will not get bored! And you will still have time to relax and visit the surrounding nature with beautiful views to the sea. It is very peaceful and lets you appreciate the little things in life.
Anette taught me a lot of things, from making bread, to the use of different types of plants and natural births. Simon taught me how to repair a lawn mower!
They include you in their activities and always make sure you are alright. At dinner, there is always some delicious food while discussing some interesting topic or sharing a funny story.
I could have not imagined that I would return home with a lovely farm family in Tjøme.

I was with Anette and Simon, the children and all the animals on the farm for one and a half month. It's always nice to spend the evening with Anette and Simon and also the kids, cooking super delicious food, bottling honey or just having a conversation and laughing. Around the farm you can go for walks and explore. It doesn't take long to end up on a nice bench to enjoy the sunset by the sea. The nature and the sea is so beautiful. It is a lot of fun to take care of the animals around the clock even when it gets colder and suddenly snow covers everything. Anette and Simon are people of the heart. They are full of love and fun and they want you to have a great time on the farm, which I definitely had. … read more the farm alone for 3 days when they went to their cabin in the mountains.
The work mainly consists in the animal routine every morning/lunch/evening : feed the animals (pigs, horses, ducks, chickens), clean the duck house, mud out the horse dung.
I recommend to come with a travel buddy or ask if there's an other workawayer staying, it's much more pleasant and less repetitive to split the work in 2. It's also more fun and less lonely to spend some free time with a friend.
You sleep in your own private little cabin (wifi, little kitchen, but toilets/bathroom in the main house) that you share with Stella the cat, she's very cute and affectionate. You cook your own breakfast and lunch (but Anette&Simon pay for the food). You also have plenty of time in the day to do what pleases you (relax in the cabin, go for a walk ...).
I came in late September so my other tasks were preparing the garden for winter (picking up the tomatoes, weeding out, putting compost and hay on the beds). My favorite part was eating fresh tomatoes every day and homemade tomato soup and tomato sauce. I also learned how to collect honey from the hives, that was really cool.
Simon works away during the day while Anette works from home (and sometimes have to go out). On weekends or when they are free, Anette & Simon are happy to let you tag along on their activities. Unfortunately it rained a lot during my stay, but on the sunny days, we managed to go on walks with the dogs, do a boat ride to one of the islands, do a little ride with the horses in the forest. The surrounding nature is very pretty; there's the ocean, rocks and forest. Perfect to go for a run or a walk, but you cannot go far if you don't have a car.
Anette, Simon, thank you so much for what you have done for me and thank you for helping me with Norwegian ! Tusen takk for alt dere har gjort for meg og takk for at dere hjelper meg med Norsk

Traveling to Norway was a dream of mine. I stayed with Anette and Simon for about three weeks in September. Both of them are really gentle and helpful. Also it’s nice to have dinner together and discuss different topics. The work there is not too hard, most of the time it’s just animal care. You have to do three rounds of feeding (breakfast, lunch

I think describing the work with the hardest and „least-fun“ job that I did is the best way to prove that. - it was preparing the garden beds for the winter- that means: (taking out old plants, adding barrows of compost and top with hey). I learned a lot during my short stay of two month (you really ned them!) not only about work but especially about live. Annette and Simon are extremely open minded persons with so much spirit, love and super interesting personalities. Dear Workawayer, it's a trap! Once you enter this place, you don't want to leave anymore!

I originally planned to only stay for 2 months at the farm but decided within the first few weeks to come back after christmas and new years eve and stayed in the end for nearly 5 months. And what shall I say, it was the best time of my life. I never ever expected to learn so much! Too much to write it all down. But I definitely left the farm as a new person.
My work was mainly to care for all of the lovely animals but there is always something going on at this farm. Anette and Simon are both Doers, so there will always be a new cool project to work on.
They are both very experienced hikers, travellers, climbers, the coolest parents alive, super open minded persons, incredibly funny and at the same time very caring persons. They inspired me so much for so many things and thanks to them I fell in love with the sport climbing.
Their kids are all very unique and you definitely want to learn Norwegian to understand what funny things they are constantly saying. Also the parents of Anette are super nice! You'll find yourself pretty often invited to their house for very delicous dinner. And then there is Natasha and Andrei, previous woofers, who couldn't leave this place and do now live for several years close by. All of them became my second family and made my time in Norway an unforgettable experience. So yes, this place is heaven if you're open for it and give yourself the time to develope and to become part of the family. Just be aware that it will change you as person. But in a good way.
