Cam and Berry stayed with us for a few weeks in August 2024, and we wish they had stayed longer! They are both such kind, respectful, hardworking, funny, and awesome people. We were lucky to have them and would recommend them to any host. They both asked questions when something was unclear and we felt like we could trust them to care for our

Our experience at Lindsey and Sarah's was unforgettable and we're going to miss them loads! They're great company, very kind and accommodating, and they were super fair with the balance between work and leisure time. Their dogs Ziggy and Mieka are really fun too! And their cats, especially Nala :)
We got to do a variety of work, a bit of

Gabriola is an amazing little island and Lindsey and Sarah live right next to the beach so we went pretty much every day! Sometimes you can catch sight of a seal or whale if you look for long enough!
Overall we can't recommend this Workaway enough, we're so grateful we got to meet you, Lindsey and Sarah, and I really hope we can visit again soon!

I stayed with Lindsey and Sarah over 2 months ago now and it was the best first workaway experience I could have asked for! Gabriola was an absolutely stunning, calm, and serene island with lovely beaches, plenty of wildlife, and a really welcoming kind, and creative community. … read more highlight of my time in Canada so far. It was great to get to know Lindsey, Sarah and the several other workawayers there at the time!
The work itself was really fun; learning to cob, helping with garden tasks involving the many veggies/ flowers, and looking after and playing with the many animals (Ziggy I particularly miss you!!)
As everyone else has already said, the food was mega yum (literally amazing thank u) and playing all the games (I particularly enjoyed learning Chinese chess) with everyone was very enjoyable. Meeting people from different backgrounds and getting to know everyone was my favourite part of the workaway as Lindsey and Sarah created such a safe fun work space for everyone!
I would recommend exploring the several different walking trails, swimming in the sea, listening out for (and seeing) the many hummingbirds in the garden, going to the local market and shops, and also a day or evening trip to Nanaimo.
Thanks again for a brilliant few weeks which was now a while back (late review whoops) I hope you're both good and I can't imagine the size of what were the tiny chicks now!

I have nothing but positive feedback for my two weeks spent at Lindsey and Sarah's place! My time on Gabriola was by far my favourite part of travelling Canada soo far and I can't wait to go back. I loved learning new skills like gardening and cobbing, which was the crux of the work made easy with Sarah's patience and flexibility and the team work
… read more environment the other workawayers provided. I stayed on the converted bus which was so cosy and comfy and provided a really nice social hub for the Workawayers to interact over a cup of tea or meal. Talking about meals, Sarah truly is the best cook on Gabriola, dare I say BC, the food was top tier and I loved sharing dinner with everyone while getting to talk about our days and share our own life experiences! The only sad thing was not getting to see a whale but there are lots of opportunities being so close to the beach which is a marvel of its own. The quiet and chill pace of the island made for such an enjoyable and relaxing Workaway, I really loved my rides into town on days off to treat myself at ground up cafe and the occasional trips to the thrift store were exciting! Perhaps the best thing about this Workaway and the island itself was the sense of community, everyone I met was extremely lovely and helpful and I always felt included with Lindsey and Sarah and their friends which were so lovely to meet. we even spent one of our work days helping out at one of their friends place who then treated us to some margaritas and tasty burgers as well as the unforgettable shower and heated toilet seat, yeah you heard that right it was strange at first then after a hard days work felt like heaven. Gabriola is truly a magical place I can't imagine anyone not loving it there, especially with the homely feel this Workaway provides!! ps they have really cute and sometimes agile animals, especially mieka she was my favFeedback

Had an awesome time here and would definitely recommend others to do a workaway here too! Sarah and Lindsey were super friendly hosts who are a lot of fun to be around with a great place for a workaway! The help was good fun and flexible and Sarah and Lindsey taught us loads. The food was also delicious, can’t fault anything about this place, and

We spent a week at Lindsey’s and Sarah’s and can confidently say it was one of our best experiences here in Canada!
They are both super nice and made sure we had a great time on Gabriola island (a heavenly piece of earth!). They came to pick us up on Vancouver island and dropped us off at the ferry since we do not travel with a vehicle. Also,
… read more like mentioned before, they made sure we saw various spots of the island we wouldn’t have seen on our own. Gabriola has very nice beaches, woods and generally a beautiful, rural landscape that is worth a visit!
We made an agreement to work every day for a few hours and therefore get to see spots in the afternoon which was perfect for us, it was nice to have a word in the planning and they were flexible when it came to working hours etc. so we had a perfect mix of working and exploring! For working we mostly did cobbing and gardening, simple but physical tasks, we would recommend clothes that could get dirty :)
We lived in a converted bus that was also really nice and we had some personal space, it can only get a bit cold (probably depends on the time of year).
Now to the best part of our stay, which was definitely the sense of community and the food (still dreaming of it). Sarah and Lindsey made sure us and the other workawayers would spend time together outside of work which was really nice, we did some exploring, played cards in the evenings and they even made sure we could be part of their meeting up with friends so we got to know some other really nice people. For the food, we would all eat together in the evenings and let us put it that way, it was always hard to stop eating because Sarah surely is a great cook :) If you have allergies it would be good to really refer to that so you can eat safely.
We cannot say anything more than thank you for the great time, we wish you all the best and hope to see you again some day (and all your cute animals, Ziggy, Mika, Nala, Pizza, Mambo, Billie Jean, the chicken and the duck!).
Always remember your very first and very best workawayers!
