My experience with the family was excellent, I stayed for a month and from the first day they were very good to me.
Both Deirdre and Jerry are kind and honest people, and how can I forget the children! Matthew, Annie and Margaret, I had a lot of fun with them too.
At all times I felt like one of the family, breakfast, lunch and dinner gathered at
… read more the same table, there is no lack of company in this house, I even met some of his friends and other family members such as grandmother, grandfather and their siblings, because in my case I went in December and spent Christmas and New Year.
As for tasks, it's a farm, I did things I had never done in my life, coming from a city! Every day was different, feed and count the animals (sheep, lambs, horses and dogs), clean the stables, the shed, help in the house with the fire, cleaning, order, help put up a fence and also we went to paint and do maintenance on a house. The good thing about the tasks being so varied is that you don't get bored and you don't know what your day is going to be like, there is always something to learn with this family.
The farm is very close to Sneem, a small Irish town that feels like another big family, everyone knows each other and people are very friendly. The landscapes in County Kerry are incredible, it is true that it is quite remote, as this is the country side, but here you experience the real Ireland. Near Sneem there is also Kenmare and Killarney, two larger and also very beautiful towns that I was able to visit on my days off. Jerry and Deirdre were always willing to take me to towns or take me to some means of transportation so I could get to know and enjoy those free days.
To resume, my stay with them was wonderful, I had very good times and learned a lot, I hope one day I can visit them again, they are people that I will certainly not forget. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I spent 3 wonderful months with the family, from January to March 2023. It was an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like a member of the family. I spoke very little English when I arrived, but it was not a big problem, I progressed throughout my stay.

I really recommend this type of experience and this farm to anyone looking for a new and different adventure.
Thanks again Deirdre, Jerry and the kids for everything you did for me.

I had a wonderful time with the Foleys, that was over way to fast.
I've been part of the family from the first second on.
I learned a lot about farming and Connemara Ponies.
I enjoyed staying at the countryside and beeing outside a lot.
The scenery around the house is amazing.
Thanks a million.

Nov 2019 - Jan 2020. And beyond! I have a strong feeling that once a part of this family, always a part of it!! I'm so grateful to Diedre, Jerry, Matthew, Margaret and Annie for helping me settle into Ireland. They go over and above and so do their extended family. Helping them doesn't feel like work, rather it just feels like being a valued part

They live in a gorgeous part of the country. Its a peaceful location but a lively house and many chances to get a ride to different places to explore. Highlights were the Black Valley and Gap of Dunloe, walks and pony rides, a hilarious Santa-run, and spending time in West Cork with grandparents, Agnes and John.

I stayed around 2 weeks with this family and the experience was excellent. They made me feel comfortable from the first day, the kids are nice and adorable and I loved spending my time with them. The most important thing though was how I was made to feel a part of the family instantly. I'm grateful because when I was working I was never alone, I

So...I don't know how to start but I know how to finish : It was awesome. It was my first workaway experience and I stayed with the Foleys for 6 weeks. Since the very first day I was part of the family, and I'm not saying this to be nice, it's just how it was : I played with the children and I scolded them when I had to, I laughed a lot with De
… read more and Jerry as well as we had serious talks. It was beautiful also because they are so...Irish. I wanted to know how life is in Ireland and I had a million questions about everything, and they were so glad to explain thoroughly all I wanted to know.
Every day you'll do something different, sometimes you'll like it sometimes you won't, in any case they'll try very hard to make you have a good time.
Just two things you have to be aware of:
1) If you live in a city, remember they live in the countryside and there 20 minutes by car is a very short travel. So if you want to visit something "close" you need them to take you there because there are no buses nearby (but of course they will be more than happy to make you visit everything you want to see).
2) The children are very young now. So if you have no experience with children just take a moment to think if you're ready not just to play with them but also to mind them. Anyway they are lovely and, after a morning spent building houses, you'll have 3 new very good friends.
I won't say anything more or I'll ruin all the fun, just one more thing : Once De told me :"I want you guys to live it like a holiday" but for me it wasn't a holiday, it was much much more...and I'll never thank them enough for this.
P.S. I hope you like spuds (you'll know what I mean). You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I was living with this amazing family for a month, you may think that 4 weeks could be a short time but they are going to show that a month is enough to do many different things, because with this charm family you are going to live a new adventure every single day, you are going to immerse yourself in Irish life, they will take you to every town
… read more that they can (they are a very busy family) and you will enjoy the beautiful sights that all of these places have (it´s VERY important to say that the best sights you are going to see on your trip are from the house).
As for the family... they are Matthew (7), Annie and Margaret (they are a pack) (3), Jerry and Dee (the parents). Matthew is a very independent boy, he is very excited about everything related to the farmer´s life, he is a very good worker and he is very mature with only seven years. Annie and Margaret (remember they are a pack, although they are very different) are the cutest twins in the whole world, love them!! they have a good relationship between them (not always haha) and this makes the work easier. Deirdre (the mother) and Jerry (the father) are very polite, and they are not going to leave you alone at work, never, you are only going to help them, but you are not going to do their work while they are relaxing (or chillaxing, if you meet this family you will understand me), and they will help you in everything they can (thanks Dee for fixing the bike for me) (thanks Jerry for worrying about me learning as much english language as possible), and thank you two for teach me everything you know about farming, I´m so grateful!
Finally I would like to mention Eigness, Dee´s mother, she is a charming woman and the kids love her a lot (you are going to understand this when you meet her because she is a very good woman).
It was so hard to say bye to this lovely family 20 days ago, and now I´m writing the feedback of my experience with them; I´m missing you all so much!
I hope everything is fine there. Best of wishes for you all family :)

I stayed 4 weeks with this lovely, crazy family. They live in a beautiful area with mountains, the sea and beaches. It's impossible to describe the diffrent areas I saw during my stay. Let me say something about the "work": first of all there are the crazy kids, always busy and so funny when they dance or bounce on the trampoline. No day will be
… read more like the other as Andrew said. For the rest it depends on what you want. Counting sheeps (I was not good in that :D), feeding lambs, gardening, playing with the dogs, farming, laundry, baking, whatever suits you. In your time off you they manage that you can walk the kerry way, go to the village (killarney, kenmare, sneem) or whatever you have in your mind. They are very simple, cool and they always try to make your stay as much comfortable as they can. They are very open minded, kind and respectful. So if you want to stay with an Irish family, love the nature, you can entertain yourself, and love animals I can highly recommend this family. Sorry for the late feedback.
I wanted to thank you for the 4 weeks in April. First of all, I have to say that the landscape and the view from the house are unique and beautiful. I learned a lot about sheep and it was nice to be involved with the lambing. It was a busy time but I really enjoyed it. To rescue a lamb is an experience I will never

Now I want to come to the two little toddlers Margaret and Annie. My highlight was on the first day taking Annie and Margaret for a bath. These two are really sweet but their also keeping you busy. It was always a challenge to get them to sleep. They are full of energy! A day without being outside is a no-go hahah. And not to forget Matthew the busy little farmer. He is really independent for his age and loves farming.
While my stay I saw a few little towns (Killarney, Sneem, Kenmare) which are beautiful. And I was able to pursue my passion with horses on the farm. A pitty that I couldn`t meet Susi`s foal anymore.
I wish you all the best. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I was living for five beautiful months with this family and the life experience I had at home was rewarding, from the first day I arrived to the last one they treated me like a son. Your family is lovely and they are EXCELLENT people, from your children to Grand (she is the best) you will see it.
As for my experience, I came to your home without
… read more being able to put together a single sentence in English, thanks to your patience and help today I find myself speaking English.
As for your activities, EVERY day you will do different things. There is no routine and that makes it more fun, you get up and do not know what you will do during the day, you can work at home or also end up collecting sheep for some corner of Kerry (crazy) haha.
As for your free time they are quite flexible, they want you to enjoy your stay in your home so the plan that you happen to do, you will not have any kind of inconvenience in doing it and they will want to help you in whatever they can !.
Personally if your idea is to get away from the city and have an experience with nature and animals for all tastes, your home is the ideal. The landscape that you get from any point of view of the house towards all its surroundings are incredible.
That's a bit of what I can leave you about the family, I hope someday to be able to return !!
Regards!.
Andrew.
Saludos!.
