Description
We (Alex and Dominique) are a young, married couple who both work in forestry and love the outdoors. We live on a rural 40 acres property near the small town of Horsefly, British Columbia, Canada. We share our property and lives with 8 sled dogs, which we train, race and care for year-round. When we are not busy with the dogs, we are renovating our old house, building gardens, raising chickens for meat and eggs, cutting trails, collecting firewood, hunting, fishing, skiing, cooking meals and playing music. We are friendly and curious of other cultures and experiences. We would like to share our unique lives with others who are interested. The area that surrounds us is very rural and is a mix of forest land and ranch lands. You can see the cariboo mountains to the east of us.

Travellers will learn to care for working sled dogs and live in a rural and rustic setting in the heart of British Columbia. We would like to share our unique rural lifestyle and also learn from others in the process. Although we are busy with work around the property, we do take the time to enjoy the outdoors and recreate and our workawayers will be welcome to join us on any local adventures! We take the time to make nice meals, socialize and enjoy music. We also have a large group of interesting friends that work in a wide variety of professions that workawayers can network with and visit with us.
Help
We would love to have help with kennel chores (watering, feeding, cleaning), caring for sled dogs (walking, play supervision, cuddles, playing fetch, belly rubs), snow clearing, trail maintenance, collecting firewood, gardening and general property maintenance. We are also busy with house renovations that workawayers could help us with and learn from us how to paint, install flooring and do light carpentry, if they are interested. We are very skilled in a wide variety skills that we are willing to share. There is a lot to do around the property which means you can choose whichever tasks that you feel comfortable doing.
