Description
I am semi-retired and now back on the Kapiti Coast in Otaki. I've spent my working life in Wellington, London, Auckland and 3 years in Picton, Marlborough Sounds, NZ. I grew up down the road in Te Horo on a dairy farm that my brother now owns. I have a lot to do with my family and extended family including walks most weekends which also includes friends. We enjoy the socialising and cafe/pub meal afterwards just as much as the walk!
It's about a 50min drive South to Wellington train station and a 10min drive to the nearest beach.
I have a 900sqm property at the end of a culdesac with outlooks onto trees and paddocks.Types of help and learning opportunities
GardeningHelp around the houseGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
I will often have family and extended family over for evening meals to give more insights/knowledge of the area and what we do including ideas on interests and activities you have. I have had a great time travelling overseas and living in London for 6 years. I enjoy finding out about other people's home country's and cultures and I'm happy to impart my country and family's culture etc.

Help
I would love help with general gardening including new project clearing and/or preparing. If you are a handy person then there is general maintenance on the house/property and also garden projects. Help with cleaning inside and outside the house when needed.

Accommodation
You will get your own room and sole use of the main bathroom.
I am looking for mature, trustworthy, self motivated and independent people who are willing to help and get the job done. You will be warmly welcomed and appreciated. I will provide cooked evening meals as well as some breakfast and lunch items for you to prepare yourselves. You can provide your own snacks. I expect help cleaning up the evening mealtime dishes together, and cleaning the accommodation area you've stayed in before you leave. This is not considered part of your 5 hours, just part of living with someone 🙂What else ...
There are lots of beaches to choose from and if you are into walking/cycling there are a few great options. The flat lovely river walk/cycle is 5min walk away. Walk/cycleway to a Garden shop cafe in Waikanae or beyond. (You would need your own bike) Hill walk?, then maybe Hemi Matenga with awesome views of Kapiti Island or more adventurous Otaki Forks. There are loads to choose from. I'm happy to help with your level. If I have a walk organised you might like to join in.
Ideally and mostly you would have your own transport to visit the area. In Otaki there is limited public transport but if planned I could drop/pickup from Otaki or Waikanae train station or I could plan my errands for further out trips (eg Kapiti Island departure). From Waikanae there are frequent commuter trains to Wellington with all the stops along the way. (Try the Paekakariki escarpment walk or the Pauahatanui inlet walk)A little more information
