  Description

  I am Kali and I'm in charge of a vegan non profit organization, created in 2013, sheltering animals who escaped euthanasia, slaughterhouses, laboratories, but also old, sick, disabled or « said » aggressive individuals...
  Rats, Rabbits, Cats, Dogs, Goats, Sheep, Donkeys and Horses are living here on a 15 hectares land in the mountains in the Pyrenées. Some humans live here too ;) : my 2 children, their dad, and I ;-)
  Ths is a very beautiful place, we're surrounded by wonderful forests, rivers and mountains... 25 mn away from Oloron Ste Marie (by car), 1hour from Pau.
  
  The number one rule is do not come to the animals, let them come to you! Some live completely freely in the moutains and do not want to be bothered, some just don't care but others, due to their past, are scared of humans, and need time to learn to trust you, if they do, if you earn it...! But of course, others may come to you looking for food...or contact ;-)
  
  This is an activist place, organized for the animals, but also deeply engaged in feminism, therefore men who might come here must be willing to give up the privileges society give them...
  
  I am sorry but i have very little time to spend on the computer and deal with emails therefore the delay to get an answer may seem pretty long sometimes, so if you're in a hurry and/or looking for a last minute place to go, you may be disappointed cause i can't promise quick replies...!
  
  
  Je suis Kali et tient une association vegan, créé en 2013, recueillant des animaux qui ont échappé à l'euthanasie, l'abattoir, les laboratoires, mais aussi des individus malades, handicapés ou dits "agressifs"
  Rat.e.s, Lapin.e.s, Chat.te.s, Chien.ne.s, Chèvre-boucs, Moutons, Âne.sse.s, Chevaux-Juments vivent ici sur un terrain de 15Ha dans les montagnes des Pyrénées.
  Quelques humain.e.s vivent ici également, mes deux enfants, leur père, et moi 🙃
  Nous vivons dans un endroit superbe, nous sommes entouré.e.s de magnifiques forêts, rivières, montagnes...
  A 25mn d'Oloron Ste marie (en voiture) et 1h de Pau.
  
  La règle numéro 1 ici c'est : n'allez pas voir les animaux, laissez les venir à vous...Certains individus vivent en complète liberté dans les montagnes et ne veulent pas être embêtés, certains s'en fiche, mais d'autre, à cause de leur passé, ont peur des humain.e.s et ont besoin de temps pour faire confiance, s'ils le font, et si vous la gagnez ..! Et bien sûr, certains peuvent venir vous voir, quémander à manger...ou des papouilles ;-)
  
  C'est un lieu militant, tout s'organise autour/pour les animaux, mais également un lieu féministe, ce qui veut dire que les hommes qui viendraient ici, doivent être prêts à abandonner les privilèges que la société leur donne...
  
  Je suis désolée mais j'ai très peu de temps à passer sur le PC et peine à gérer les mails, les délais de réponses peuvent sembler bien long, donc si vous êtes préssé.e.s et/ou cherchez une endroit d'urgence ou de dernière minute, vous risquez d'être déçu.e.s car je ne peux promettre de réponses rapides..!

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  There's a lot of things to learn here, we actually learn just by sitting and watching the animals interact...Trained to accompany dogs in positive and respectful ways, you can gain here knowledge in ethology, cats and dogs behavior, learn their way to communicate....
  But since most of the things here are in DIY there's a lot to learn by helping with the diverse constructions, woodworking, the garden...
  In training in animal naturopathy, you can learn about plants, phyto/aromatherapy, homemade treatments and various potions, even homemade soap and cosmetics ..I'm also a seamstress and jeweler who exhibitd on Fantasy and historic fairs and festivals, in order to make money for the shelter.
  Of course, you can also learn about vegan food here, since this a vegan place (i ask that it stays this way), you can discover all the delicious thing we can eat and cook, besides grains ;) I must confess i have a little guilty pleasure with pastry cooking !
  
  
  Il y a beaucoup de choses à apprendre ici, rien que par le fait de s'asseoir et observer les animaux interagir...Formée en accompagnement canin bienveillant et positif, vous pourrez acquérir des notions d'éthologie, en comportement canin et félin, culture canine, en apprendre plus sur leurs codes et façon de communiquer.
  Mais aussi comme la majorité des choses ici sont en DIY, il y a beaucoup de choses à apprendre en bricolage, les diverses constructions, le travail du bois, le jardinage...
  Étant en formation de naturopathie animale, vous pouvez apprendre beaucoup sur les plantes, la phyto-aromatherapy, les fabrications de produits soins et diverses potions, mais aussi savons et cosm'ethiques maison, etc...Je suis aussi couturière bijoutière, exposant ponctuellement sur les fêtes et festivals médiévaux pour faire des sous pour le refuge.
  Evidemment, le lieu étant vegan, (et nous demandons que cela le reste); vous pouvez découvrir toutes les délicieuses choses que l'on peut manger et cuisiner, en dehors des graines ;) Je dois avouer que la patisserie est un de mes péchés mignons...

  Help

  I'm looking for help to take care of everyone here, it means, help with the feedings, plant pickings for the rabbits, the walks, the treatments, the cleanings but it can also mean working on fences, build littles shelters, hayracks etc....
  If you have an artistic soul, you can help to embellish the place by decorating, painting the various constructions.
  Sometimes I have to make "goodies" to raise money for the shelter, like personalized t-shirts and many other stuff.
  There's also a lot of work to do on a house to restore (lime/hemp plaster...) wich will become the main living place when it will be habitable. There are future projects of cobhouse, cordwood buildings...but all in good times ;)
  I definitely need support with the gardening (permaculture), the "dream" would be to become self sufficient or close with a "forest garden" also filled with medicinal plants(to prepare even more homemade treatments for all the animals), but with the shelter and the kids, I have no time to spend on this for now...So for now it's only a few fruit trees, and a wild garden full of nettles..!
  Help is also needed with the children so that I can work for the shelter and on my handicraft but also because it's richer for them to spend time with a lot of different people.
  
  Il y a besoin d'aide pour s'occuper d'un peu tout le monde ici, cela implique aide aux nourrissages, cueillettes, balades, soins, nettoyages, mais cela inclue aussi des poses de clôtures, constructions d'abris, de râteliers, divers aménagements... Si vous avez l'âme artistique cela peut être aussi embellir le lieu en décorant, peignant, les différents habitats.
  On peut aussi se retrouver à faire des "goodies" pour vendre au profit de l'association, équipés pour réaliser des T-shirts floqués par exemple et bien d'autres choses...
  Il y a également beaucoup à faire sur une vielle maison à restaurer de manière saine et écologique(revêtements, isolation, menuiseries, enduit chaux chanvre etc..) qui deviendra le lieu de vie principal une fois habitable. Il y a des futures projets de maisonette terre-paille et constructions en bois cordé... mais chaque chose en son temps!
  J'aimerais aussi un peu de soutien pour des cultures (en permaculture), le rêve serait un jardin forêt en auto suffisance, ou pas loin, incluant beaucoup de plantes médicinales pour préparer encore plus de soins maisons pour tous les animaux d'ici, mais avec le quotidien du refuge et les enfants, je ne trouve pas de temps à consacrer à cela...Donc pour le moment il y a seulement quelques arbres fruitiers, et une forêt d'orties😅.
  J'aurais aussi besoin d'aide pour s'occuper des enfants justement, afin de pouvoir travailler sur mon artisanat, mais aussi simplement car il est plus enrichissant pour eux de côtoyer et échanger avec plein de personnes différentes.

  Accommodation

  Being ourselves in van or caravans with a little 16m2 house, the modest commodity we offer is a caravan with a 1 place bed, table, kitchenette.
  There is heating, electricity, internet and hot water in the little house, and dry toilets outside.
  
  Etant nous même sur le lieu en caravane et petite maisonette de 16m2, l'accueil est modeste et se fait dans une caravane aménagée (lit deux places, table et banquettes, coin cuisine. Nous avons électricité, chauffage, internet et eau chaude dans la maisonnette,bet fonctionnons avec des toilettes sèches.

  What else ...

  There are a lot of beautiful places and wonderful hikes around, many awesome climbing spots but also winter sports in winter ;-)
  Rock climbing deeply changed my life and really helps me with my often stressful life 😅 addicted to it, I go climbing at least once a week, inside or outside depending on the weather, and would gladly take you with me! 😉
  
  In a 1hour radius there's the Castle of Henry IV in Pau, medieval towns (Navarrenx, Lescar, Sauveterre ...)
  
  Il y a aux alentours énormément de coins superbes et randonnées magnifiques, des spots d'escalade géniaux mais aussi le ski en hiver 🙃
  L'escalade m'a changé la vie et m'aide à assumer l'aspect souvent stressant de mon quotidien, définitivement accro, je vais donc grimper au moins un fois par semaine, dehors ou en intérieur selon le temps, nous pourrons y aller ensemble volontiers 😉
  
  En faisant un peu plus de route mais à pas plus d'1h, il y a le Château d'Henry IV à Pau, des villes médiévales (Navarrenx, Lescar, Sauveterre...)
