Description
I am Antonio, a 36 year-old guy and I'm building a dream together with a Chozo (traditional Extremadura construction) with clay, stone, wood, cains (local variety of bamboo) and recycled materials, in the middle of nowhere :) Salvaleón > Extremadura. I am also deveolping a project to recover biodiversity in the sorroundings of the construction... there are 20 available hectare in a beautiful Dehesa, the tipical Extremadura forest. Art, workshops, barbecues, music. I feel that these are the first steps of the rest of my life.
In the last years I was travelling around Spain and Europe, working, studying, meeting people and trying to find myself in this crazy and amazing world. I didn't reach any big conclusion but I think I found the way I want to live: spending as long as possible in the nature, either working or relaxing and share it with people who can appreciate it.
Now I work as a project coordinator in a organisation that develops a variety of projects in the field of environment, culture and social inclusion, so I don't have so much time to spend in the chozo, but still I come here everyday to water de plants, do some little work and sleep under a tree... :)Types of help and learning opportunities

It always depends on how much you can discover by yourself, but the contact with the local community is very close, they are already used to see foreigners and they always try their best. We are in one of the poorest region in Spain, but poor only if we talk about money. Our culture, traditions, nature and heritage is awesome.
I love our history and our environment, so probably I can share some info, stories, dreams with you.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Volunteers are asked mainly to help in the building porcess of the chozo (rounded tipical construction) and planting trees and bushes. We need to carry stones, clean the clay, mix it, build the walls, windows, door and a stone wall around the construction. We also need to cut wood. Animals will be there with us but there is not much to do with them as they just eat, drink, walk and rest! :) They are good dudes. You could try to talk to them, I sometimes do.

At the moment, life in the chozo is life outdoors. In the construction you can arrange your own room in the brand new first floor. Electricity has just arrived and Internet connetion works, not 100%, but it works (I am updating the profile from here!!!), this is something really new, I am not sure if it's good or not, but makes everything easier. That's technology for, isn't it! Well, we can discuss that.
Beds, kitchen, food and an amazing landscape are provided. Dogs, cats and birds live in the chozo.
Just in case: around the chozo there are hundreds of trees that can be used for pi & po (toilet paper > trash can). Or we can build a toiltet, although there are other priorities, if you have a good idea, we can do it!What else ...
As we live in a village, sport facilities (basket, tenis, football...), shops, bars and buses are available at anytime. I think the most atractive activity for the free time is hiking, there are thousand of paths! Also birdwatching or visiting neighbour towns.
Closest big towns: Sevilla - 190 km; Lisboa - 280 km; Badajoz - 56 km; Mérida - 70 km.A little more information

I had an amazing time in Salvaleon, This project is so original and I learnt a lot not only in construction but also about the area and history.
On project I felt more like a co-worker than volunteer, my thoughts and ideas were listened to and considered.
