Being a volunteer at Eliana’s house was one of my best experiences. The work is varied and depends on the needs of the moment. In my case, I went through sewing, painting and even cutting grass. Eliana explains everything to you and you just need to have a little practical sense. The house is very pleasant immersed in nature and allows you to take beautiful walks in the company of Dino of course🐕. You will be 20 minutes by car from Matera but Eliana goes there very regularly so no problem dropping you off there. Always good advice, very good company, you will not miss anything. I can only recommend that you stop here for your next volunteering and enjoy!

Doug was a very welcoming host, happily catering to my dietary needs and always up for a chat about anything and everything! He's very compassionate and tries to find work that suits everyone who is visiting. We were unfortunate with the weather we had for the week which really limited what we could achieve.. I still managed to get outside to paint a few days and was given a lot of freedom to experiment and Doug took us out to see the Tablelands to celebrate my birthday which I really appreciated ! He's a fab tour guide and clearly loves where he lives. I also just want to give him a lot of praise for taking me and my partner across to Cairns when the bus was cancelled- very generous man!! Doug is very relaxed but always values pro active guests who are happy to clean and get their hands dirty helping in the garden- so if you need a getaway this is the place to be!

It was so hard to leave Marion and Phil after spending more than a month with them. Marion made sure that I was comfortable with my stay at all times. Spending time with Phil was so natural and did not feel like "work". I will miss our game nights, playing in the pool, and, most of all, our time spent on the football/soccer pitch. I cannot forget to mention the dogs and cats, they were best! I cannot wait until we see each other again!

I stayed with the family for six weeks last year and I had such a great time with them. They always made sure that I had everything I needed. I had so much fun spending time with their two boys. Whether it was going for a walk, teaching Atlas how to ride a bike, or playing in the garden, I enjoyed forming a bond with the boys. Frome is a cute town with a lot of bookshops and they had a market when I was there. I am glad that I got to spend time with you guys and hope our paths cross in the future!

I stayed 2 weeks with Jacqui and Dave and it was really great. The area Jacqui and Dave live in is simply beautiful, surrounded by locals little towns and markets that I would highly recomend visiting. Dave and Jacqui were amazing people and really attentive to my needs, despite things not always going our way we were still able to have fun. The work was mainly taking care of the horses and helping around which I loved. Overall I would highly recommend this stay if you enjoy the French countryside. Thank you, Jacqui and Dave.

We spent a week at Donna's place and it was perfect! Donna is lovely, we had very interesting conversations, and she brings so much joy in her house (and in your heart !). The work was a bit physical but we liked it, it was satisfying. We miss Baba 😽❤️ and Tank 🐶 and Fred 🐷, we had so much fun with them! Oh, and Donna knows how to cook, I mean, trully ! The food was amazing, and so were the TV evening sessions! 😇🌼🐝 Thanks again for everything Donna, I guess my farewell's tear expressed how much I love you and I wished we had more time with you!

Had a great stay with Bernadette and Snow! They were very welcoming and considerate. We enjoyed our evening meals together and sharing travel stories. We helped with cleaning around the house and the yard. Excellent Workaway stay, especially if you're looking to explore Nelson; they are perfectly located just a 10 minute walk from downtown! We highly recommend staying with them :)

Patrick was with us for 3 months through the winter. He was great company and soon became really useful and independent around the farm, helping us to progress a number of projects. Pat is very practical and keen to learn. He knows a lot about plants and soil and has inspired new plans in this direction. I would strongly recommend Pat to other hosts and I hope he will be heading back here again soon!

Wolf is a friendly young man who quickly and easily adapted to our lifestyle. He has been cheerful and friendly during his whole stay. He was truly seeking for ways to help us. He was working hard if it had to be and did not complain when it took longer until dinner because the children kept us busy. He likes meaningful conversations and good meals. He had a great connection to our teenagers and to our toddler, too. He was comfortable with all our farm animals. We are very thankful that he took the dogs for walks. We could see how much he appreciates the environment and that he had fun discovering unique places and sights. It was very heartwarming to experience how he became the part of our family life and homestead without criticism and judgement. He worked a lot with the wheelbarrow carrying stones, building pens for our birds, laying outdoor tiles on the floor, moving things around. The spring was beautiful and warm, we all enjoyed working outdoors a lot with him. We were happy to hear that he’d return this summer.

Leo was great company and really useful around the farm. He worked well with the other volunteer, together they whizzed through the "to do" list and made big progress with the spring jobs. Leo is always thinking of new solutions and was keen to learn new skills. Leo is a digital nomad and was working on his own projects outside of work hours. He was considerate and was always available when needed. I would recommend Leo to other hosts, and wish him well.

Francesco is a kind young man who is fun to have around. He won the kids over without any difficulty, all four liked him a lot since the beginning. He was eager to learn and complete tasks, especially during the construction work of the roof for our flock. That required planning and exact work. No matter what was due to be done he was helpful and persistent. Unfortunately he had to leave earlier, which was sad but he promised he’ll return.

Hilda is a very warm, enthusiastic, and respectful person. She was excited to jump into tasks and had a positive attitude. She really feels like a friend! The logistics of getting together were a bit challenging. I am excited to see her at social events in the future.

staying here was a wonderful experience. it really is a magical place like many of the reviews say. She is a beautiful human being with a lot of wisdom. she helps you to see life differently and make you grow. i stayed here back in march, the week before nyepi (silent day). we made the ogoh-ogoh (a big monster they burn before the silent day). it was a beautiful experience getting to make the monster and being able to join the ceremony. unfortunately because of this i didnt get to make any mosaic, but i am still very grateful for my experience here. the communication was not that good. not all workers spoke english and because of the holiday a few went back home. i assume this would be better now seeing as all workers are here. the house was not as clean due to humidity. as a volunteer you have to clean the place yourself, because of this it was also a bit more dirty. overall i still had a very good experience and met a lot of amazing people!

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had! A beautiful place, amazing people from all over the world, the magical nature of Chacahua, and of course, Matteo, who was an amazing host; he genuinely cares about the land and his projects. I will definitely go again in the future :D During my two-week stay, I did some painting, helped making the well, and some other tasks, there is always something to do and when you finish work you have a lot of free time to explore the place. The bioluminescence was unforgettable. At night, when there's no light from the moon, right in front of the kitchen, you can see that beautiful glow in the sea when the waves crash, and walking on the sand felt like stepping among stars. Running with the geese, seeing their glowing footprints, was amazing hahahaha, but the best part was in the lagoon, full of fish glowing all around us, it was unreal! The people going there made a beautiful community and team when working. Everyone was very nice and cooperative, also very interesting to talk to, and you just really enjoy spending time together. The community in Chacahua is so unique, very welcoming and nice. There you will not only find people from Mexico but from all around the globe, with very different backgrounds, all in a very small town, so it's common to find again the person you talked with days ago. I'm not a surfer myself but saw how good the place is for surfers, beautiful waves and a big community. It was amazing surfing for the first time with the help of Matteo and other volunteers giving me advice. And let's not forget the delicious pizza party and lentil dishes, Super rico! so... if you're thinking about it, don't hesitate. Chacahua is a very beautiful place.

Thimy and Gauthier were the best first workaway experience ever! They were so kind, informative, helpful, and friendly during our 3 month stay. We had great conversations and laughs over dinner, Thimy was very organized and always answered our questions and gave us the best tips for our weekend trips, and Gauthier always shared the best stories. We grew such a wonderful connection with them and Baby Georges, and definitely consider them to be lifelong friends. It was so fun integrating into their lives and learning about their cultures. We already miss them so much!

Eliza and Aurelien stayed with us for ~ 3 weeks in April (sorry for the delay in writing this!) and were very easy company, they were hardworking and really enjoyed most of the tasks - a favourite was using the log splitter and stacking firewood, and hunting for old-man's beard in our native forest. Aurelien was happy to deal with checking and re-baiting traps when we went away for a long weekend. They stayed at our off-grid cottage and were happy to weed the native plantings when we were busy elsewhere. They also cooked at our house and produced some lovely meals, deserts were a speciality! We took them fishing off the beach early on a beautiful morning and caught several kahawai, Eliza's first fish catch! We also took them out in our fishing boat in some pretty wild weather and pulled in the craypots, they handled it all with aplomb. The left the cottage spotlessly clean (but unexpectedly left me with a HUGE pile of laundry of sheets and towels just before they caught the bus, which was a bit infuriating when they had their own off-grid washing machine at the cottage)..... I can certainly recommend Eliza and Aurelien to other Workaway hosts.

I had a very interesting stay at Vinay's farm. It's an ambitious project where Vinay is returning to his ancestral property to live a life of simplicity in nature, without many inputs from outside. The location is very, very beautiful with a great climate, ( I was there in April). Vinay is a deep thinker and we had many extended philosophical exchanges. The work load was light with many opportunities to do work that interested me. The accomodations were less comfortable than I had hoped for, but Vinay always tried hard to make things better for me. He is a good cook and the food was always tasty. Vinay is still figuring things out on the farm and in his own life and he is a very sincere and honest person. Highly recommended for those who want a unique experience in the Himalayas.
