I am hard worker, who likes to be around humans and animals. I have extensive experience looking after pets as well as farm animals. You need someone who is looking after your place, while you take your time off? Write me a message.
With me comes my a little Collie-Mix, named Pinto. He is fixed and gets along with other dogs and cats - He survived in the desert of Mexico and lived on the streets in the city afterwards. I think he earned his new life that I want to give him.
About me:
My name is Jana, 39 and from Germany - I am an extrovert, outgoing, honest, adventurous person who likes to connect with people and animals. I like to offer my help, knowledge, some good German dishes. I love sharing stories around the bonfire, being active in the outdoors. I have experience as guide for outdoor activities, as trail guide on horseback and I worked about 9 years as IT-Project Assistance and Manager/Consultant. Now exploring what else is out there.
You want to know more about my adventures then keep on reading...
My journey:
I started my first long-term travel adventure in February 2020 - From Toronto, towards Ontario to Ottawa and Montreal, I made my way through West-Canada, helped out on a little horse farm near to Airdrie for 6 weeks, and worked for 2 1/2 months at a Horse Guest Ranch in the Chilcotin Mountains in British Columbia for the summer season. I helped on a small private farm in Lac La Hache, went on a road trip through BC, and drove all the way up to Yukon along the Alaska Highway. Spent two weeks at a place in Tagish, taking care of the dog, cutting & stacking firewood for the winter. From mid-October to the end of November I stayed at a sled dog tour company (Muk Tuk Adventures) and helped with feeding the dogs, getting them ready for the tours, and was also able to drive sleds on my own - all great experiences. After this I stayed at a little ranch close to Whitehorse, helping with the daily chores around the horses, chickens, and cattle. I stayed a little longer in Yukon and eventually went all the way down back to Albert in February and to help at a horse & cattle breeder with the barn chores and training/riding horses. Afterwards I took a little time back on the road to explore Alberta and Saskatchewan. The next stop was the Barrier Mountain Outfitter campground in Alberta, where I helped get the place ready for the summer season and looked after the horses for about a month. I decided to go all the way to Vancouver Island to go on my next adventure - hiking the West Coast Trail in the summer heat. I helped out at a lovely farm for about 3 weeks and spent nearly 3 months around the Island. Finally, I went on a Road Trip through BC/Yukon and again back to Alberta, where I spent 2 1/2 months on the Turn Around Ranch, which main focus is equestrian assisted counseling. Learned a lot about natural horsemanship, trained horses, and got a lot of miles on the horses along the beautiful trails just outside of the property. I moved to a private horse farm in Parkland County, where I way looking after the animals (horses, a dog, cats) and the property while the owners we're working.
And finally decided to move up North as the NWT finally allowed Tourist/Visitors again and worked at NFTI (a learning facility for Farming) for about 2 months. Afterwards I stayed in Yellowknife for a while and encountered House sitting as a great way to travel, and have a place to stay where I am. Further I went back down to Calgary and volunteered at the Stampede, helped out on a little private ranch and finally made my way down into USA.
There I travelled for about 3 months and discovered Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Stayed close to Phoenix at a private Horse facility and helped with looking after the horses, dogs, chickens and pigs. After that I travelled alone into Mexico and scooted around whole Baja California. I stayed at a trail riding ranch down south and helped with guiding the hourly rides on the beach and of course taking care about the horses and donkeys! After spending my time down south, I had to travel back up north. Crossed back into US and explored the beautiful south-east of California, visited friends in Las Vegas and eventually went back up north along the coast. My adventure North America is about to end and now I have two months left in Canada (which I try to extend, because that is not enough to get everything sorted out!) ;)
