Description
I have always been fascinated by the gorgeous pictures of the blue planet taken from space...
Hi, my name is Erika and I am from Hungary.
From that perspective, Earth looks like a beautiful, delicate, fragile marble—our home and yours too, regardless of the country you live in or your nationality. Perhaps that's why I see other people as my fellow humans. And I am curious about how they live, what they think and dream about. I'm not only interested in their stories; I also want to work, learn, sing, laugh, and cry with them, taste their food, and embrace their life.
Apart from my beloved hometown, Szeged, Hungary, I have lived in Budapest, Lyon, and recently in São Paulo. I have also spent shorter or longer periods in Norway and Switzerland, mainly for family reasons.
Throughout my career as a television journalist, filmmaker, event organizer, teacher and a grief recovery specialist, I've had the privilege of meeting numerous individuals, working in teams, and delivering various projects with people from all over the world. I adore contributing to the realization of a vision with a bunch of passionate guys. It is a pure delight for me when I can motivate my dear students, colleagues, elderly and younger buddies.
Encounters with new people and cultures can be challenging; however, these moments often provide the most valuable learning opportunities in life. My intention has always been to gain a deeper understanding of individuals and, certainly, myself as well.
But it's not just humans; all those peculiar animals and wondrous plants around the world captivate me. I love catching a glimpse of the miracle by getting acquainted with them as closely as possible, whether it's trekking in nature or gardening and taking care of animals. I am so grateful for having had a dog friend named Nyurga for thirteen years, an Irish setter, from whom I learned so many profound things about being human that I cannot put into words.
Well, dear Workaway Community, that's why I love traveling in general, and that's why I would like to be a Workawayer, engaging in voluntary work in the next six months or so, somewhere in the green heart of Brazil. This comes after two years of living in a metropolis and teaching Hungarian at the University of São Paulo and precedes my departure from the amazing South America.
I can't wait to meet you, guys. My motto in Hungarian is 'Kalandra fel!' which roughly translates to 'Let's go on an adventure!'.

I can cook well and excel at organizing community programs, as well as hosting people. During my university years, I worked as a receptionist every summer, either in a hostel or at a camping site—a role that I loved so much that I contemplated leaving my job as a journalist and teacher to host travelers at 'the end of the world.' In any case, I have organized numerous events and workshops throughout my career.
As a teacher of Hungarian language and culture, my specialty is music education, and I particularly enjoy singing with others. I am capable of teaching Hungarian folk songs at any time to anyone and am eager to learn the songs of other peoples and cultures.
I am fluent in English and have experience as a language teacher.
With a background of television journalism, I am adept at creating and editing videos, designing cover pictures, and promoting social events.
I am deeply interested in yoga and art therapy and am confident in my ability to listen to others sensitively and help them solve their problems. As a certified grief recovery specialist, I have supported numerous people in rediscovering the beauty of life.
My enthusiasm extends to plants and animals. I cherish human stories and always relish the opportunity to play.Age
59
What else ...
Looking around on the website, I realized that the vast majority of the workawayers are between 20 and 45 years old. Surprisingly, I am 58, but I don't feel that age at all. On the contrary, I am more curious and adventurous than ever before. You know, guys, if one doesn't die young, they keep getting older. That is the law of nature. But I have to tell you, being 58 has astonishingly plenty of advantages. You are less physically strong, evidently, but more experienced in many fields of life, and, last but not least, hopefully wiser, more patient and empathetic with others than your younger self. ;-)
