I have been travelling around central and South America for the last six months, and hoping to move to Asia to volunteer (hopefully teaching English or working with others!)

Description

I’m Olivia - I’m 26 years old, from the UK, currently on my first solo travel trip. I’m a positive and open-minded person, and I’m motivated by helping others. I have loved travelling for the last six months, and have visited over 12 countries. I feel I’ve learnt so much about other cultures, and about myself, and completely changed my outlook on life. Im due to return home within the next few months, but would like to spend some time volunteering before heading back.

I am a native English speaker and would definitely be interested in teaching others English whether that be through structured lessons or more relaxed conversation. As a teacher myself, I think I would be most suited to this area of volunteering!

At home, I’m a fully qualified secondary school maths teacher. I work at a state school teaching children from the ages of 11-16 years old. I have done this for the last three years and love it! Alongside maths, I have my own form group who I teach PSHE on the daily.
I have volunteered in the past with various communities and organisations, including IntoUniversity, where I volunteered at an after school club helping younger children with homework and engaging with them in play and sports activities.
Whilst at University I also volunteered at Imara, a charity in the UK which supports victims of sexual abuse. I assisted with the marketing of this charity and helped organise a fundraising event to raise awareness for the cause.
Before working as a teacher, I worked in digital marketing for six months. My main duties included copywriting for clients websites, assisting with social media projects and writing and editing articles.

I am a hardworking and positive person and I can put my mind to any given task!

What else ...

I love nature and going on long walks. At home I love to spend time with my friends and family, often by sharing a meal together, taking a walk or having a games night! I have been on a bit of a self- development journey over the last six months whilst I’ve been travelling, and so I would like to continue this by volunteering in a new country, hopefully for a good cause.
