I had a wonderful time with Gonzalo,Kat, Miles and the volunteers, drinking beer in the evening and enjoying good moments The work was nice and chill, you go at your own rhythm and you are quite independent (that's the best) The general vibe of the hostel is amazing, clients are nice, location is top If you go there you'll feel how good and easy life can be you'll feel home very quick and time will pass very fast I loved this little island life with you guys, thank you enjoyyyy

Leo is an amazing person for one so young! Mature beyond his years. He has a good work ethic, uses his common sense and contributes to "strategizing"! We found him to be kind, polite and thoughtful. And he has a great sense of humour and is a good conversationalist. We were very grateful for his input to the boring task of renovating our pool. Scraping and cleaning old cement off for days on end. But he was also happy to get on with whatever task came up. We were sorry when he left and will miss him.

Green bird ostrich farm is a place where you can learn about the habits and behaviour of different species of animals while caring for them. There you will meet ostriches, emus, peacocks, guinea fowl, geese, ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, cats and a big smart dog - Indy. If you're at the farm at the right time of year, not only will you learn how, when and where ostrich eggs are collected, but you'll also find out how to use an incubator and the specifics of hatching ostrich chicks from eggs. If you have any questions, ask Gail and she will answer them in detail. One of the most enjoyable things about my two week stay was the communication and interactions I had with the large African and Australian birds. For people interested in sports, the rural school has a basketball court and one of the best calisthenics facilities in the country. I thank Gail for her hospitality and the new things I have learned from her.

Jim stayed 4 weeks on the farm and his help was precious! No need to explain twice what needs to be done. Though young, he is able to work on his own and quick, loves to work outside and do heavy jobs like using a streamer, chainsaw, etc. He is good willing, open minded, calm, good company, polite, respectful, easy going. You can rely on him. I wish he will be back another time!

It has been an absolute pleasure to stay with Anna and Sal. Their hospitality has been outstanding. They are kind, caring, helpful people who have found a piece of paradise and want to share it. I am not exaggerating when I say this place is stunning. They have a lovely community of neighbours in their tiny picturesque village and we were welcomed with open arms. They helped us both improve our Italian dramatically and I got to learn lots about Italian cooking and the Italian lifestyle. The closest shops are a 5 minute car ride away so you can hide from the world and experience a slower pace of life, which is incredibly relaxing and rewarding (still with all the amentities of Teramo close enough). Our accommodation was very comfortable and Anna and Sal did everything possible to help us. In return we helped with some two man jobs in the garden, gathered firewood and helped with the cooking and foraging. This was an incredible opportunity and I feel very lucky to have had this experience. I am so grateful I got to meet and spend time with such wonderful people and glad that we have made such a wonderful connection. Thank you for sharing your paradise with us x

We are very happy that Vanessa visited our farm. From the moment we met her, we knew she was a perfect match. She is always positive and truly a pleasure to have around. She is very hardworking and was a great help, we also wouldn’t have been able to build as many vegetable patches without her. With every vegetable that will grow there we are sending her our thanks. She has a lot of experiences with horses and she was able to care about them without any further explanations. She also has worked with my little stubborn pony and taught her some new things. We’re so grateful for that and everything else she’s done. It was a wonderful time and I hope we will see you again. Maybe over here or one day in Canada. ❤️

If you are going on your first workaway then I wouldn't suggest you to go to Laura, Bjørn, Svante and Andreas. They will spoil the rest of your workaway-life. IT WAS GREAT! Super nice people, great talks, perfect location in the middle of the forest and the work was good to handle. Bjørn is a great tour guide and big and little cat are super cuddly and great hunters. We stayed 1 week with our camper van in their yard. We wish you all the best for the opening of your Icebear shop. Kisses Claudia & El

What a special experience we had with Manon, JD and their family! We helped them for 5 weeks with the build of their gite - a beautiful arch building! It was a huge and rewarding project, and we loved it so much we're planning to be back later in the year to help again 😁 It's a lively, loud and social household, frequently spending time with children, grandparents, neighbours and friends. We were made to feel at home and part of the family. The food was delicious, most produce coming from the amazing markets at Prayssac and the surrounding area. If you're looking for more than just exchanging work for accomodation and truly wish to be apart of a small French community lifestyle, we can't recommend Manon and JD enough! Their young daughter made us laugh every day, and we genuinely looked forward to the weeks that Manon's wonderful teenagers (11 & 13) were at the house. There are beautiful walks through the forest on your doorstep, and Prayssac is a short walk away, where a bus can take you to Cahors.

Lawrence is a lovely man. He’s very well travelled and very easy to get along with. We had many conversations and laughs during his stay. He diligently completed tasks once he knew exactly what was required. He was tidy, quiet and generally kept to his routine. He is open to trying new things and exploring any cultural exchange. He loves the countryside and French boulangeries. Enjoy your next adventures Lawrence. Thank you for all you’ve done.

I had a wonderful time here! Steve is an amazing host, I felt immediately comfortable with. He is really easy going and can even give you a hair cut if you need one :) The tower is an amazing place to stay and it is quite cozy in a tent but with a small kitchen and bathroom on site. The work varies from work on the tower to work in the grounds and most importantly giving tours. Thank you again Steve for your hospitality!

Olof and Anna are fabulous hosts! They are both warm, genuine and open people, great conversationalists! I immediately felt comfortable and welcomed which is all to their merit. No problem is too small. If you are looking to disconnect and relax in beautiful sorroundings while learning about permaculture then this is the workaway for you. Comfortable rooms too. Their meals are fantastic, cooked from scratch which is such a privilege to have made for you everyday. You can help and learn their recipes, you will never go hungry! The work can be tough at times, not for faint of heart but it is also empowering and rewarding and with great company/good food awaiting you it is more than a pleasure to do! I have learned many new skills that I can take with me and Anna is more than happy to share her expansive knowledge on permaculture which has definitely peaked my curiosity. It is great fun to get your hands dirty and see your results of a hard days work. Their property is truly a magical place. You will leave with new found respect for nature and it wonders. I will treasure the 3 weeks I had here forever 😁

We had a wonderful time with Daria. She's a great person and we learned a lot with her! We felt like home in her house. We eat well and she's the perfect guide because she knows everything about her country! Thank you again!

As it felt like family, I nearly forgot to write the workaway-feedback.,. I had the most amazing time at Melissa's and Burtons farm, they created a paradise living with nature in the Ruakōkoputuna Valley. Their animals are lovely, so beautiful horses that are just a pleasure to ride, I loved feeding and looking after the Chickens, sheep and horses, I met their daughter Francesca and her lovely little family and together with Melissa we had lots of horse-talk, I loved it. We had inspiring conversations and amazing food, lots of it right from the garden, that even I started to enjoy cooking and baking :) Thank you for this very special time ❤️

It was a very nice place, I met some musicians, some local people. Very good to practise music (they have électoral guitar, bass, acoustic guitare, drums. They are very kind. If you don't want to do sth they are completely okay. People coming in are very open minded and some will propose to drink beer. For me it was my best experience on workaway

What a beautiful beautiful time I had in Grizzana. Leena, Stefano, and Maire were amazing hosts, I felt part of the family from day one. I had the chance to be a part in taking care of the dogs, Pippo, Teppo, and I miss them dearly already. I also helped a bit with Ariel, Daisy, and Valtorino (the horses) and Alfredo (the donkey). They would always crack me up, and I miss them too. I ate like a king for 2 months, enjoying Leena's and Stefano's, delicious cooking. It was really nice to learn more about Italian food traditions and to be able to cook with those beautiful Italian ingredients. To be part of a vineyard in the making was also very special. I mentioned it to Leena, but for me, every day felt a bit like a Sunday, you work a bit on the home or the land, and then you enjoy some delicious food and relaxing time on this beautiful property. In doing so I really discovered a passion for gardening, landwork and taking care of animals. I also reconnected with my love of cooking. The property itself, the beautiful and calm oak tree, also allowed for some great "me-time", connecting with the nature and meditating. The surroundings were amazing, lots of little villages, cheese and prosciutto shops, the train is easy to take to bologna for visits. I cannot say enough good things about my stay. I am so grateful I got to stay at la Fondazza, I hope to be back there soon. Ciao!

Rie-san, sorry we took so long to leave a review! We spend a week in Mamihara helping with the finishing touches at Omusubi Guesthouse, it was a great experience for us. The work was easygoing and clear, we helped setting up the Booking.com and Airbnb accounts and with some carpentry work. Rie-san made sure we were comfortable and her communication style was very clear. Thanks to her we got to know many places around Mamihara that are just breathtaking. We also learned a lot about Shinto, japanese culture and food, and met some local residents with some very interesting stories and background. Access to Mamihara can be a little tricky but we managed to hitchhike to and from Kumamoto, thanks to the help of the local folks. We totally recommend this opportunity to see some of the rural side of Japan, it is full of beauty and tradition. Hope to see you again Rie-san! Take care :)

My stay with Joe for a week has been an amazing experience. Joe is an amazing person that loves to show you around town and go for dinner together. Joe treated me on a welcome lunch when I arrived which was the most warm welcome you can ever get. The work in the garden was only three hours a day but if the sun was too strong and we worked hard it was totally okay to just work two hours. After lunch we often went for lunch together with the other volunteers and we also did go to the night market on the weekend. On my final day Joe brought me to his church community and everyone was so friendly. You will also see Joe's brother who takes care of the stray dogs and he can even take you to the indigenous people. Joe is an incredible person and you will have an amazing time. I stayed for only two weeks because of other plans but if you have more time you should stay for a few weeks. All the best Joe and hopefully see you in the future Niels😁
