    Hello there!~

I'm Max and I have a spare room at my house for any volunteers looking for a stay in the Bermagui area.

    ----------About the space------------

Recently one of my housemates moved away to the city for work and instead of renting out the room again, I decided to make the space available for any travellers/volunteers.
It's a 3 bedroom house, with a big backyard, just a couple hundred meters from the beach. Super great spot!

The garage was converted to a workshop/studio where I make jewellery & pottery mostly. You're welcome to use this space to paint and create whatever you feel.
There are plenty of surfboards for you to use depending on your skill level and I'm happy to teach you the basics whenever I have free time. I have a spare wetsuit that may fit also, suits someone 170-180cm tall 60-70kg.

It would be great if you have your own car for convenience, but I also have bicycles and theres an excellent track that goes from my place all the way along the coastline into town where the shops are. It generally takes 20-30mins each way.

**** Message me for my homestay Instagram @ and we can chat more there. I also post more pictures and updates on there ****

    ---------About Myself--------

    Max, 28 Male
I love picking up new hobbies and starting new businesses. Lately I've been doing silversmithing, and making jewellery using the sand casting and cuttlebone casting techniques. Otherwise I mostly just build/fix things, make videos, cook, read books and surf. I'm happy to share any skills with you that you're interested in, always keen to learn new skills too!
I've lived in my current house for about 6 years, but when I was younger (18-21) I travelled a lot overseas and volunteered with Helpx and Workaway in South America.
Some places I visited include India, Japan, South America, Europe, Indonesia.

*** Please note I sometimes dog-sit for a friend, it's not very often but if you have allergies or fears this may be something to consider.

    ----------About the work-----------

I made this listing on Workaway to get some help with maintaining the house I lease and to give back to the volunteering community.

Most of the work is just to keep the house clean and organised so that everyone can enjoy the space as much as possible. I usually do all these chores myself but having volunteers allows me to spend more time working on my jewellery and upgrading the space instead.
I ask 15-20 hrs a week, but so far on average volunteers have only down 10hrs per week because there isn't much work to do some weeks. Every week is different and depends on the weather and how many projects I have for us to work on.

    Tasks include:
    --Primary--
    - House cleaning
    - Mowing lawn
    - Help with jewellery making

    --Secondary--
    - Oyster mushroom setup
    - Maintaining/improving veggie garden beds and greenhouse
    - Setup composting system
    - Finishing campervan fit-out (Toyota Liteace 1981)

Working schedule is super flexible, 70% of the work is just simple house cleaning and yard maintenance. You can do this when it's convenient for you, I don't like to tell people when to do things and prefer you do it when it's a good time for you. As long as it gets done I'm happy :)

    ----------House Rules---------------

Pretty straightforward, just be tidy in the shared spaces, look after equipment, and smoke outside the house.
Also I really don't like to have to motivate people, so I just ask that if you hate doing this kind of house work/chores please don't apply for the position.

If you like water, then this is the location for you! On one side of the house there's Camel Rock Beach and on the other side is Wallaga Lake. There are some secret spots right on the lake that are picture perfect at sunset.
The area also has plenty of beautiful walks and little mountains to climb.
Nearby is my hometown, Central Tilba, which is a beautiful little heritage village. I'm more than happy to show you around. You can see seals in Narooma and Bermagui too, if you're lucky you'll see dolphin pods, whales and sometimes penguins.

Definitely, I do a heap of work on my computer and can relate to the grind. The internet is resonably fast and consistent. There's plenty of space for you to set up and get productive.
