Remi helped us with gardening and warehouse cleaning tasks for a week, and he was excellent! He is a hardworking young man with always a positive attitude, always willing to help more. Mercedes, Gabriel, and I are going to miss him, despite the short time he was here, he left a good vibe of memories. Thank you very much Remi for all your effort and help at the hostel, it was extremely helpful! We recommend him 100% for other volunteering opportunities in the future, and we wish you a very good trip, Remi.

Arcapacha is a special place, just like its owner German! I loved being there, I learnt a lot, discovered new parts of myself, and I was feeling happy and satisfied physically and mentally everyday. This seems impossible but I guess it’s not:) The day starts at 8am with breakfast. You can exchange ideas and learn some typical dishes in a joyful mood in a beautiful kitchen, all participating in the cooking time. You can also choose to wake up earlier to do some yoga on the upper open floor of the volunteering house, surrounded by nature. 9-1/2pm is the working time. We all work, including the host, mostly harvesting and opening cacao but also preparing seeds for new trees, cleaning the pool, harvesting in the fruit garden… After a big refreshing glass of ‘Jugo de cacao’ we have a big lunch all together, and then free time until dinner. It’s a spectacular place, surrounded by many different species of plants, animals, people and ways of leaving (always learning with new volunteers:). You can also swim in the river of the farm or go to the nearest waterfall. German is often down to join excursions or just chill music/art time with the volunteers. He is full of energy and stories to tell, he speaks lots of languages and if you’re lucky, you can participate in a cacao ceremony. I wish I could come back, you go for me.

We learned a lot during our stay here, Alejandra was very knowledgeable about the land she lives on, and the accommodation was very comfortable. If youre looking to connect to nature and unplug for a while, find yourself... this is the place!!! Muchas Gracias again

a great workaway experience. the owner is very friendly and you feel very welcome. The house is an absolute dream with a view of the lake and the volcano. You help here and there and in return you get a comfortable place to stay. I wish Eulogio all the luck in the world

Thank you for the amazing workaway. Adbul and Hassan were very funny and the food was amazing. Meeting the other workawayers and making bricks together was a nice experience. Thanks a lot!

Lesia was a great workaway who surprised us with her artistic skills daily. She cooks, cleans and paints scenery and carves animals out of soapstone. She brought joy and kindness our home and taught us about cultures and different ways of life. We learned a lot. A wonderful exchange and we hope to meet again.

I stayed for one month with Hazel, Jim, Liam and Harry. It was my first time doing workaway alone, so it was perfect for me to stay with a family where I felt very involved and like part of the family. It is a busy family and it never gets boring with friends and family coming over frequently. The work is a bit spread out over the day, but it was never too much and mostly some cleaning in the morning. If you like a clean and tidy household, you are in the right place here. I also really enjoyed playing with Harry. We played Lego, toy cars, soccer and whatever creative ideas he had. On the weekends and some afternoons I mostly explored the area with the bicycle. The beaches are stunning and Clonakilty is a very cute town. Thank you for that lovely time :)

Christina taught us a lot about life in general and specific. She has lots of energy to work and participate in activities. She cleaned our windows until we didn't know they existed. Most days she participated in basic household chores. She is willing to share in all household activities. She is willing to learn how to do everything and looks at youtube videos to find ways to do things, but she has great experience with doing household things. She doesn't speak English, but we talked in broken Spanish and used google translate. We learned a lot about acceptance and different lifestyles, that we were not familiar with before Chris came into our lives. Chris is kind and open about life. As a hosts we learned to be very open because her ways of living are full of energy and her ideas sometimes were different from ours. This is what makes the world go around. She came for a week and stayed for three weeks. I recommend clear communication in order to have a cooperative workaway exchange.

Sadly due to personal health reasons, I had to make the difficult decision to go back home and focus on my health as I am currently not well enough to volunteer. Although only having spent two days on the farm, this family really welcomed me into their household with open arms. They were very understanding with my situation, never forced me to do anything I was uncomfortable or out of my limits. They treated me ever so kindly. Their homemade food was out of this world! some of the best meals I´ve ever had. The experience although was very short made me feel that I learnt a lot from their way of life, will never forget all the interesting enlightening conversations I had with Hafdis and her mother Ella. This family is so hard working, all the animals are such a delight, soul healing environment. Varmahlíð really left a special place in my heart and soul. I felt devasted to have left this family although it was for the best for both sides. I was very emotional, tearful and well I can only imagine how it must be for a volunteer having been there a longer time. I would love to be able to return back and give all my 1000% help and dedication once I am healthy again. Tak fyrir &bég vona að sjá ykkur öll seinna <3 <3 <3

Olivia was a wonderful workaway and she quickly became part of our family. We enjoyed her kindness and the time she took to learn about our community and way of life.

McKean is such a nice and friendly young man, and it was a great pleasure to have him at our home, we had fantastic conversations, and he has always a nice smile, he helped us so much in our garden, and he saw everything what is to do, without telling, everything he made was realy perfect,he stayed also some days longer because we had so much work and he wants to help us, thank you so much McKean, everytime you can come again, you are always welcome, and we can drink our fantastic beer together again, and go skiing 😀😀 ( but only in winter) now everthing is green in the garden, you would like it,beautiful, hope we see you again, all the best for you, Niki, Manfred and Cinderella

we were surprised from beginning to end and felt at home, Jeni is an excellent host, super helpful, welcoming and human. It was our first experience as Workaways and if I could give a rating it would be a thousand. Jeni picked us up at the station, prepared our room, which is beautiful, just like the house, and was attentive from beginning to end. the service was super calm and light, I don't know if I can consider it as one, because we worked as if we were in our own home cleaning, organizing, and renovating windows... the meals were super tasty and it was really good to have this moment of togetherness. I learned a lot about edible plants, Jeni was fair with the agreement and delivered more than we expected, she gave us Italian lessons, she took us to see Canossa Castle, we went to restaurants, we ate ice cream and we ate local food, that was all very good pizza, herbazone, rice salad, and other delicacies I lost 😂. Jeni introduced her kind and polite children Tomi and Ludovico. we met Jeni's father, super playful and good people, it was a pleasure to meet Gabriele and Simoni. Gabriele is super polite, kind and playful. He took us for a walk and had lunch out. Simoni note 10 also made a point of having lunch with us and dinner too. They are enlightened people and we are very grateful for that and we hope to return one day. This was just the summary of two incredible weeks with them and most importantly with the super docile and loving pets Bea, Joe and Mimi. Thank you Jeni for trusting us, we are very happy, you are incredible and everything you did good for us returns twice as much to you ✨. hug to all of you

Our stay was really pleasant and we appreciate this experience :) Steve and his two small children are so cheerful and friendly! We helped with gathering wood, creating stars, cooking and once with preparing and keeping sauna for some visitors. We spent there ten days and were able to visit San Augustin, Parque Archeologico and take a lot of rest in Steve's place. There is a river and charming waterfalls nearby. We absolutely recommend this place!

Staying at the alpaca farm was my very first Workaway and it was a great experience. Joëlle and Philip are lovely hosts and are very welcoming:). They drove me to and from the train station, and they even offered to drive me to the town to explore. The farm is beautiful and it is very therapeutic to walk with the alpacas and in the garden. It was also a very learning experience - Joëlle knows everything there is to know about alpacas, gardening, goji berries and more, and is very good at sharing her knowledge🦙. The town of Montpon-Menesterol is very nice, there are markets, churches and a few hikes along the river. It is also very easy to explore the bigger cities nearby by train. All and all I would very much recommend staying at the farm🤩 I stayed for two weeks but could easily have stayed for longer!

Last year, we had the incredible opportunity to host Marina at our home in Michigan for a few months, a period that proved to be invaluable for our family. With her deep expertise in Montessori education, Marina did more than enrich our living space; she fundamentally understood and catered to our son James's needs during a critical stage of his development. Her approach was not only about creating engaging activities for James and his friends but also about empowering us as parents. Marina's guidance helped us become more effective educators ourselves, equipping us with the philosophical framework necessary to continue fostering James's growth. Her teachings have left a lasting impact, transforming our approach to parenting and education. Our relationship with Marina has blossomed into a cherished friendship, and her influence extends beyond her stay. We’ve just come back from a trip visiting her and her family in Croatia a couple months ago and have enjoyed monthly check-ins with her, which continue to support and guide our journey in nurturing James's development. Marina’s contribution to our family has been an extraordinary gift, one that keeps enriching our lives.

Me and my travel buddy Leah spent a lovely two weeks working here and exploring Elba. The work was quite simple: raking, weeding and cleaning mostly, because we were preparing the campsite for opening. We stayed in a two-room apartment that we shared, we had our own private bathroom, kitchen with utilities, and even a small porch. We were treated with respect and friendliness by all the workers at the campsite and felt very much at home on Elba during our stay. During our free time Betty and Francesco took us to meet their friends or out for dinner to some amazing spots on the island. Sometimes we would stay at the campsite and enjoy home-cooked meals and music all together. Almost every evening was spent in great company! In our free time we also explored some of the beaches and towns of Elba, which are unforgettable. The work was six days a week, and there was no breakfast, but the hosts agreed to pay each of us 35 euros per week to buy our own groceries. With a private kitchen that was even a better deal to me. There is a mini market right across the street from the camping and many little restaurants in Lacona itself. There was also plenty of time to explore, swim, hike, rest, and with Betty and Francesco's help we managed to see much more of the island than we would have as tourists. Overall I want to sincerely thank Betty, Francesco, Andrea, Slava and everyone else for giving us the warmest welcome and making our trip one of the most fantastic I've been on. I hope to come back to Elba again soon!

Fay is a very sweet person with many talents especially in the realm of natural healing. She even made a balm for my foot that was injured. Her land is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. I learned new skills, ate very well, and felt like part of a family while there. I'd volunteer there again.

Lara & Olvera were amazing! I stayed there for almost 3 weeks and I loved the place from the beginning until the end. Unfortunately I could not get to know Lara herself, but even though I never met her, it felt like I build up kind of a relationship with her during my stay. She was always reachable, helpful, patient and empathetic, as well as she took well care about our expenses and transferred us the money for food and materials quickly. My tasks were mostly sanding and painting, but as there are different things to do in the house, I could always choose what I would like to do. On my days off, which I could choose by myself, I visited several places in the surrounding like Ronda, Setenil or Grazalema. There are plenty of things to do and if you have a car - no problem. Public transport is rare, but there are some bus connections to those places (better check that at the bus station or ask Lara, the online schedules lie :D). There also is a really good mountain bike, which I used a couple of times, but it's reaaally steep overthere and it was always exhausting to get the house. Even by foot :D What I enjoyed a lot was that Olvera is not a touristic place like some of the other white villages and I felt like really getting in touch with the real andalusian culture. All in all a 10/10! I'd love to come back one day ☀️

I had a fantastic stay with Martin, although short, I had a great time. Martin is a lovely guy with so many stories to tell. We stayed both in his house in the archipelago and his flat in Stockholm. He made me feel at home from the moment I stepped in. Thank you Martin for your generosity, your desire to share your culture and your warm welcome. I really appreciated that we spent a lot of time together, showing me the beauty of the place, which is absolutely stunning. Thanks again for everything.
