My experience at the motel was one of the greatest I had in a long while. fresh, young and refreshing, the peolple that come true there are really genuine and you feel welcome the minute you arrive, and miss them the minute you are gone. I wish I could have stayed longer but I will be back to see my friends on the island that's for sure. thank you for everything !:)

I had an amazing stay at Claire and Andrea's place. I couldn't have wished for a warmer welcome. I learnt so much about the Italian and British culture in this lovely place. The hills around are great for cycling, sightseeing and experiencing the Italians villages. Claire and Andrea are quite convenient with trains and offered a few very appreciated rides. Moreover, the tasks were nice, and the dogs amazing. Thanks again and hoping to see you soon, Ilona

I spent approximately eight remarkable days at Elza's. From the moment we met we clicked, and it was as if I had known Elza for a long while. Elza is by nature a very caring, open and open-minded, amicable, articulate, and energetic person. Despite arriving to her place late at night Elza still made time to come and collect me from the train stop. As a consequence of her easy-going nature she initiated our first conversation--beside the ones conducted remotely, where even then she was extremely warm and helpful. During the journey to her place we began getting better acquainted with ourselves, naturally, with her performing a balancing act stabilising one of my luggage whilst pushing her bike along, a memory that will always bring a smile to my face. She was my first Workaway host in the Netherlands and from her I gained better and first-hand insights into the Dutch culture and history. Elza was very conversational and involved from the start, she spoke from experience and shared a great deal of wisdom and knowledge with me. Within one day we had already explored the neighbouring towns and Arnhem via bicycle, during which she was very engaging sharing travel tips, historical stories and timelines of the area and buildings with me. We visited many a wonderful streets, several shops and natural/ecological sites en-route to various destinations. I enjoyed cycling through the natural park or area dominated by the IJssel river, and also along the road that borders the Veluwe national park as one heads into the town of Velp. Honestly, with the amount of things done I felt as though I had achieved so much in the days spent with Elza. As a budding architect it was a dream-come-true to hear back from Elza when I first contacted her, and believe me she responded in record time. Indeed, she went over and beyond what I expected for in addition to further enlightening me on the culture of our trade, she introduced me to her architect friends, amongst other friends and family members. Moreover, I relished being informed of the history of her new house and its former occupants besides being shown her new architectural plan drawings for her dwelling, informed of the reasoning behind these ambitions as well as involved in the planning process where my thoughts and suggestions were appreciated. Work was flexible and immensely enjoyable. Elza tailored her approach to my strengths and desires and made things really fun for me. Further, she answered my questions, explained things to me well, and encouraged me to think out of the box, step beyond the unknown, take agency and dare myself--in a sensible way of course. I appreciate the experiences one gained whilst with her, from removing tiles in the kitchen, to gaining knowledge of how electricity works to building een kippenhok (a chicken stall), fixing a toilet, or at least trying, amongst other things. There were many interesting concepts related to our field and to life that we discussed whilst at her home or on the move, as well as several valuable personal projects and interesting books that she brought to my attention. She was also humble to remark that she learned so much from me when in fact I feel that I learned more from her than the other way around. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect for me was the level of trust she had in that she would allow me to stay home alone, doing work or not, and thus giving me responsibility for her house, thus proving the extent of hospitality I experienced whilst with her. Elza was very encouraging and more like a big sister who is responsible and spontaneous at the same time. In all, this write-up does not do enough justice to nor does it fully summarise the wonderful moments shared with Elza whilst staying with her. I do hope that my account serves enough to encourage many travellers to give Elza a go, you won't be disappointed. The saying 'where does time go' is very apt in this case for how it flew so fast. One advice for Elza when we hopefully meet again: Spreek Nederlands alleen met mij!

The work was very varied and always a lot of fun. We mostly understand each other with limited Turkish language but still feel wonderful. Love the scenery on the way walking to the animal farm and green house. Enjoyed the good conversation after work with the fellow volunteers at the villa. No big deal of getting hand dirty and dirty yellow boots now! Thank you very much for the impressive experience.

Jo is truly an amazing person and we are really happy to have her host. Her good humor, her sensitivity, her respect and her inner harmony involved everyone despite the fact that she is not very extroverted at all but rather a very delicate and attentive person. Furthermore, her physical and mental energy, her resourcefulness and desire to be useful and appreciated, push her to do everything she can to help as much as possible, but always in a discreet and non-invasive way. We were truly lucky to have had this little angel among us, we wish her all the best and happiness!

Yosuke and Yuka-san inhabits a beautiful house up in the hills with tremendous view on the Omura bay. They offer a great opportunity to discover bee-keeping, an activity that Yosuke-sama have been conducting for a long time and will be thrilled to share with you, especially if you bring along skills to share and implement. Aside from bringing personal expertise and project to the place, the work is day to day with no given end time to finish the various tasks. As reward, one will enjoy wonderful meals cooked by a truly kind and skilful chef as well as a mesmerising place to rest. When we came, we were a total of four workawayer and enjoyed a tiny private room formerly used as the house's entrance. To enjoy a volunteering time in this place one must however be able to cope with the following from some of the hosts: miscommunication, erratic behaviour, poor empathic skills, lack of patience and misplaced blaming. We sadly were not planning on enjoying our trip in Japan under such conditions and could not provide the required omniscience. Therefore, we decided to shorten our stay at Yosuke and Yuka-san's place to be able to appreciate more of Kyushu. Undoubtedly, future workawayer who will show resilience will experience a sincere and profitable experience there.

Maggie and Ade are wonderful people. From the moment I arrived, Maggie made me feel at home. Working with her for three weeks was super inspiring. The tasks were easy to carry out, we cleaned, did diy and painted. Super recommended.

We had such a great experience hosting Molly for one month in our home in Lipari. She is a very easy going person, ready to give a hand in any way she can, and always with a smile. Molly helped out with our two little children, going to the park and playing games with them. Shr was also of big help around the house with daily tasks, gardening and general upkeep of a big villa. Molly can fit in any situation, she is open and positive and it was just lovely to have her around every day. The kids will have good memories of her stay with us. We highly recommend her to other hosts for another Workaway experience.

Abrazos, Paola.

Eat fresh papaya & platano for breakfast, pick your own salad for lunch, enjoy a beautiful melody after dinner and watch the stars in complete silence! As described, you will have a very special experience during your stay in this magical, remote land. This place is for all those who want to (dis)connect deeply, who want to get back to the true basics and are open to discovering something completely new. The man with the sombrero is a very hospitable, gentle and genuinely loving person. You learn a lot about yourself, about Mother Nature with all her intensity, about building and tackling new projects, about permaculture, about nurturing relationships and hopefully also about sowing seeds in the soil (maybe also in the hearts - who knows!?). La Palma is a very beautiful island with great variety. Come and feel it! All the Love to Miguee, the plants & adorable cat mates!! thaank uuu, and until very soon!!!

We had a great time at this beautiful place. We were immediately in awe with what Elona created: the house, nature and views are stunning. We staid for 9 days which Elona was ok with because we slept in our own van (usually her minimum stay is longer). The work was good, we worked quite some hours but time goes fast and we wanted to work :) Elona is experienced with volunteers and this is noticable, we would have 1 or 2 meetings a day to discuss tasks and schedules. We mostly helped with things like dishes, cooking, cleaning, serving the guests and a bit of garden work. The food that Mira made for us was amazing and abundant. The place is vegetarian but Mira accommodated for my vegan diet, which was great. We would have appreciated a bit more time for a (cultural) exchange, but we weren’t there for long and Elona travelled a few days as well. All in all, a great experience, also with the other volunteer Raph. Thanks Elona & Mira!

There are many excellent reviews on this page about this hostel, the incredible atmosphere and lovely staff. Many volunteers stayed here, extended their stay, came back and didn’t want to leave. So even before I arrived I had quite a good feeling about the upcoming months working and living in the heart of Amman. When I arrived, I was welcomed by Omar, who showed me around, gave me my first tour of the hostel and left me speechless because just from the optics and all the cozy spaces to hang out. It is definitely the coolest hostel I have ever been to. In every corner of the building and the terraces you can see and feel how much effort and love has been put to build but also to maintain it. Constantly it is also changing and improving since tourism in Jordan is only growing and Firas, the owner has a ton of ideas. Immediately I felt lucky, that this should be the hostel where I would stay several months and become a part of the team. Very quickly I met all of the wonderful people working there, including Yulia and Firas who run the place. I started my work at the reception and they gave me time to settle in, ask questions and in general the atmosphere was on such a friendly and honest level that I knew I could approach them with my ideas which was always very much welcomed but also could have spoken about problems (which there weren’t in my 4,5 months time). I felt very trusted and with increasing Arabic skills I could also communicate with the other staff members more and more. I spent many hours hanging out with all the wonderful people there and am so grateful about the friendships I have made. Jordan is an excellent place to visit and really take time to understand and dive into Arabic culture. This is why I would recommend everyone to not only fly by in 1-2 weeks but really settle in, meet local people and be open for all the little and big adventures to come. I am very excited about how the whole place will look when I come the next time!

Paul is an amazing young man, mature for his age and extremely helpful. Proactive, responsible, trustworthy and most important a good person. Besides all of that is a pleasure to spend time with him; good conversations, good sense of humour... we will miss him. And he is an incredible chef, oh my I will miss his cooking skills. All the best in your travels amigo, you know you have a home here forever.

Josefina Ed Emanuel due ragazzi intraprendenti. Sono stati ospiti da noi troppo poco tempo. Instancabili attenti al lavoro e soprattutto agli animali. Sempre pronti e disponibili. Abili a fare tutto in campagna e in casa. Non ho mai sentito un no uscire dalla loro bocca sempre educati e cordiali il gulasch di Emu è squisito.

Andrew is a great host. The renovations he's doing on his house are a massive project but he was trusting and not micro-managing at all. He treated me like an apprentice and would explain what we were doing before letting us go for it. I learned some things and enjoyed the work. Outside of work, Andrew was a social and a great host, full of useful recommendations, took us to op shops and out to a brewery one night. Super smart dude, i'd happily work for him again.

We had a wonderful time with Lyn for our first experience of New Zealand! Lyn picked us up from Queenstown airport (a VIP service we are very grateful for!) as there was no bus running at the time we landed! We then had an amazing drive to Gore with Sophie and Dottie where you can look out the window in awe the whole time! We also explored Omakau, Bluff, Gore, Dunedin (and the Forsyth Barr Stadium!) Alexandra, Ida Valley and Lauder. Lyn you always made us laugh, smile and feel like we were at home and comfortable. Thank you for making our introduction to the South Island very memorable and authentic! We will miss you lots and hope we meet again someday. Tom and Hollie 😎🥰

Wataru, works independently and hard. You do have to check his understanding as he is still learning English. However I did not have any trouble in conveying my instructions. He was mostly gardening while here. He picks up things fairly quickly. His room was left tidy and clean. He has a lovely manner and a happy chap. He also cleaned up after he finished his work for the day and put everything away neatly. I would have Wataru here again, anytime.

We loved being at Kath's place. We were house and cat sitting while Kath was away for a few weeks. Kath was really welcoming, and we had a really clear handover with her, including details of other tasks we could complete as part of the Workaway exchange. They were all really enjoyable tasks, that enabled us to get fully into various projects - including a full overall/improvement of her garden irrigation system, which ticked my love of nature and gardening, and Paul's engineering skills which came into play setting up the automatic system, and fixing various junctions. We also did some painting jobs, some decluttering tasks, and lots of watering of her indoor and veranda plants. Kath kept in great communication with us while we were away - so we could ask any questions, but she also left us be, to get on and enjoy our time in Ibiza. We felt really trusted by Kath, and we had a lovely time exploring the local area - coastal walks, beautiful clear water coves, fishing villages and amazing fresh local food. We also had the pleasure of meeting her amazing children who are so bubbly and happy. We enjoyed outdoor BBQs sitting around the fire pit with them at the end of their stay. It was the perfect first time in Ibiza - away from the party side of the island, but with enough life and culture around. We loved it! Thank you Kath! :)
