Really big thanks to Harim and all the school staff and students. Overall this is a great experience what you can get here. Initially I planned to stay here one month, but after one other project in Morocco I came back to this one and in total stayed in Harim’s school 3,5 months. He has 4 schools: one in Berrechid, two in Casablanca and one in El Jadida. When I applied for project, I assumed that I will be in Casablanca, but Harim sent me address of one school, so all of this time I was there. I really don’t regret that I wasn’t in one of the Casablanca schools. If you want to try other school while you are here, it is possible to do it, if there are free spaces. After being in Berrechid, I just didn’t want to go to other schools. In the school we volunteered from Wednesday afternoon till Sunday afternoon. On work days we volunteered few hours on afternoon or evening, on Saturdays few hours on the morning and evening and on Sunday few hours on morning. In all other time we were free. Here you don’t teach English to locals (from some 6-7 years old kids to middle age adults), but you speak with them after their class with local teacher. Usually, we had a topic about what we have to talk with locals, in many cases teachers also gave us questions. Usually, one conversation lasts 15-30 minutes. Every day you have several such conversations. It is possible that you talk just with one local or with several ones in the same time – depends from the group and number of volunteers. In those conversations not only me, but everyone could get a lot of information about Morocco, traditions, personalities, their lives, opinions, etc. You really can learn from them and share with them your own experience. Harim, thank you really much about everything. I had good experience and communication with Harim (owner of the schools). He is really welcoming, friendly, helpful, caring and just a great man. We have some different opinions about some topics, but that didn’t disturb to communicate. If you will be a bit shorter time here, maybe you will not have a chance to get to know him better, because he is really busy and rarely in in the school. Don’t make an opinion about him, if you haven’t talked with him more in real life. Thanks also to Fatima (lady who is cleaning the school and cooking lunch on most days). Her cooked food is really tasty. You will have a chance to try different traditional Moroccan foods like couscous, tagine, harira etc. Only she doesn’t speak English or French, but anyway we found way how to talk a bit with her. Her son Tarik is very helpful, friendly, understands French and tries to learn English. Once I and other volunteers were invited to their home for tea – really good experience. Teachers in the school also are great. We have painted together a mural on one wall, have eaten dinner together in one teacher’s family home during Ramadan. There was a chance to learn Arabic from some teachers, also how to cook some Moroccan foods, some girls had henna evening together, etc. If you are opened, you can try many things and make friends. Big thanks to Harim and the driver Jawad about organized trips. During those trips I probably saw a lot of most important places in Morocco. Trips are usually happening on the days off, if there are enough volunteers from all schools who want to go to those trips. Jawad is a great driver and a wonderful person. I could say that he became one of my friends here. My favorite trip is Chefchaouen (blue city) trip, where I went twice. I also liked Ouzoud waterfalls trip. In the third place (for me) I would put Merzouga (desert) trip. Essaouira trip wasn’t for me. Living in the school was basic, but good. We all volunteers of the school were living in the first (or can say basement) floor of the school building. In average we were 10 volunteers in the same time, but I also experienced, when we were 17 and that was a bit chaotic. I really enjoyed when we were only some 6-7 volunteers, because then everyone felt closer, could make normal connection with everyone, get to know everyone better, and also it was nicely more quiet and more calm. Definitely, being between all other volunteers from everywhere in the world you also can learn a lot and make some friendships. In the school we had pretty big kitchen, where we could cook, only it was very chaotic when we were a lot of volunteers. Yes, kitchen needs some upgrades (if we are many in the same time), what we already said Harim. We had washing machine (with its own character), a rooftop where to dry things and hangout. Also had shower (had to go through one classroom) with regular problems: have only cold water (most probably in this case gas balloon is empty); had only cold or burning hot water and couldn’t get warm one. Only few times per week I could get normal warm shower (less times than with some problems). But you get used to all that. Berrechid itself is not a touristic place, almost could say that we were the only foreigners in the city. Because of this you have to take in account that especially women will get a lot of attention from locals (mostly younger man and kids), but this attention mostly is not aggressive and better just to ignore it. Otherwise Berrechid is enough calm place (compared to other, more touristic cities in Morocco) where to stay and to start to feel like in the 2nd or 3rd home. This turned out not just as a thank you, but also as a lot of suggestions for next volunteers. One more time thank you to everyone who I met here about the great time, good relationships, a lot of new information, emotions etc.

We loved every aspect of Luca and Kathrina. The joy, help and laughter they provided was an unforgettable experience for us. They helped clean up so many things and even late nights when it rained as well. They were very flexible and supportive through every step of the way. We hope we have the honor of hosting them both again.

My stay with Anita was an amazing experience! She made sure I had everything I need, and kept me well-fed with her delicious pastries and sorbets and her husband's vegetarian dishes. I would recommend this project to anyone and will definitely be coming back!

Such a great place to be! I stayed two weeks at the shelter in april and had an amazing time there! The staff and other volunteers were really nice and there was always good communication. The tasks were not to hard and with the cats always around it's so much fun. Also, the shelter is not too far from Athens so it's easy (and so worth it) to go check it out on your free days. Thankyou to the whole team for being so sweet and a big appreciation for what you guys do for the cats!!

Chrissy and Ruben are true hosts. Even before our arrival, Chrissy provided us with support, information, friendliness, and good vibes. She picked us up at the station with a beautiful smile and a hug, making us feel welcome. When we arrived, Ruben greeted us with his high spirits and said, "The most important thing here is that you feel at home." It was wonderful to hear that, and we held onto those words throughout our stay. Their paradise is beautiful; they hosted us in a lovely room in an independent house with a bathroom and kitchen, everything very cozy. We shared this house with another volunteer. Their food is spectacular. Chrissy is an excellent cook; everything was delicious, including the wines and beers. Chrissy and Ruben always provided great moments, such as pizza nights, games, karaoke, trips to the festival, showing us the beautiful lake, and all the amenities of where they live. Chrissy was always with us to explain the work and often helped, increasing our efficiency. We met other volunteers there, and the cultural connection was very fun and important for us. We saw Chrissy and Ruben's children via video call, always very happy and adorable. We loved the experience and were emotional on the last day. Chrissy even helped us by giving us a suitcase. We already miss them and will certainly visit them again someday. ❤️

I'm glad I jumped on this experience, but MD made it easy because he is great with communication! Simply put I had a great time here. Being immersed in the jungle and the local culture definitely had a positive affect on me. MD and his wife are very accommodating and flexible. The campsite is nice now, but there is a long term vision for it and the culture of the place reflects that. Projects small and large are appreciated here and there is no hurry to finish anything. In conclusion I had a blast swinging a machete around for a couple of weeks and working on the bamboo bridge. I'm following closely on facebook to see the finished product!

Having Jakob with us was super fun. All our students enjoyed every conversation and improved their english skills. Jakob stayed for a month and was super compromised with the workaway. I highly recommend working with him, he is hardworking and funny. We went to many places on the weekends, like baños, quito, loja and many museums. Hope to see you again soon :) enjoy your stay in Ecuador. We’ll see you again next year.

I had an amazing stay at Gjipe! I volunteered for 3 weeks at the end of april/beginning of may at the campsite, so the busy season hadn't really started yet, still there were enough things to be done. The work was very chill, mostly prepairing the tents for the guests, sewing, cleaning, painting, cooking, etc. A bit of everything and never boring! I loved my stay here so so much. As long as you are okay with going a bit back to basic and love the nature this place is wonderful. You can hike up/in the canyon, swim, relax at the beach, go kayaking, hike up to Dhermi. It's a really calming environment which I loved for sure. Thankyou to the other volunteers and mostly thankyou Mariglen for hosting me and being so helpful :) (See you in september!)

The overall experience was very nice: the area is beautiful and there are lots of places to visit. In the house, I dealt with and learnt a lot about general 'bricolage' (e.g. painting doors, mowing the lawn, cleaning the house, also sewing). Aude was clear in the instructions and gave me autonomy and flexibility. Maxence and Elise are sweet: in order to create a good relationship with them, it's important to dedicate them some time and attention. Last but not least, I managed to improve my French thanks to interesting discussions with Aude. Thank you for the experience!

Carla came to my house in the very cold February. She adapted very quickly to my livestyle, however just to this time the live here is really different of the live in Germany. I got along very well with Carla and we had had a lot of fun together. She helped me everywhere and all the time and the best she prepared wonderful meals, often something I never tasted before. We have had really a wonderful month together And I wish I will see you may be in the autumn once again. Best Regards Dolde

Matt and Lou were amazing Workaways! Matt and Lou had boundless energy. We got so much done in just two weeks. Nothing was ever a problem. If I thought of something to do they just said, Let's do it! They helped all day long and did it with a smile and great humour. These two are the epitome of Workaways, great attitudes and energy. Matt hauled heavy concrete blocks into my truck and we placed them at a neighbours. Something I could never have done on my own. Lou was so pleasant and they really worked as a team. I needed help with our Non-profit Food Rescue and it was a part of our daily work. It was so nice to have this couple and their amazing energy. They have a real "Let's get it done" attitude. Positive energy to the max! Thankyou so much Matt and Lou. Hoping to catch us with you again soon! Alanna

Pina stayed with us only one week, but was enough to understand what a beautiful person she is. Even if she is young, is nice to speak with her about everything and she is super independent, not only in the work, but in the life in general. She is kind and respectful with everyone, full of energy and never stop smiling. Was really nice and easy to have her around. We highly recommend her

Oh, where can I begin? I went here as the Nanny for Chel and Ian's son Socrates and had the most amazing time. Little Socco is so precious and we had an absolute blast romping around in the woods every day! Chel was especially communicative of boundaries and requests when it came to Socco's care, which was really awesome as a caregiver. I lived in the loft of the lodge for a few months and then moved to the caretakers cottage toward the end of my stay. Both of which were wonderful accommodations in their own way. The community here is also so awesome! I met some amazing friends, and really enjoyed living in community with all the others on the land. We often had communal dinners, game nights and my personal favorite, art nights! I can't recommend it enough! So happy to have a little family on the West Coast!
