I had a great time working with fedja at his hostel! work hours are as advertised, and it’s very manageable work. the tour he runs was an incredible addition to go on, and he makes wonderful Bosnian coffee as well! i would absolutely recommend fedja as a host :)

It was a total pleasure to host Ben. He's has very good DIY skills and showed initiative to get things done. While he was here, Ben took on the project of weeding a stream that runs through the property as well as working on improving other landscaping projects. He showed great attention to detail and worked independently to solve problems. Ben is good company, super cheery and self responsible. He fit in very well with the house, was easy to get on with and respected all the house rules. It was fun to see the improvements Ben made on his Van during his stay here. He knows his way with a tool box. If you are lucky enough to have him contact you, I highly recommend him as a workaway guest. I’m looking forward to seeing you again Ben.

Lorena became more of a friend than a host, to start she picked me up at the station and took me birdwatching at the reservoir with Tula. We had fun baking some typical cake and spent time with her lovely family. For work I mostly helped to prepare the beds and areas for food growing, gardening and clearing the space. It's nice to work together and shes cares about the project a lot and works really hard too so it feels rewarding and purposeful work. The city Zafra about 40mins walking away is charming and not touristy and Lorena gave me rides with her to town and back when she went. The house is a very special place and you will be welcomed and comfortable with Lorena, Tula and the cats

It is really a wonderful place with an amazing family. I spent only a week-end with them but I learnt and shared a lot with them. They make me discovered their farm and the way they are living inside the Detif community. I recommand this place at 100%.

I've been at Miguel's place for 1,5 week and together with Miguel and the other workawayer Tim we were a really good team. I've worked on the construction of vertical pilers/beams for the purpose of insulation. In that time Miguel took excellent care of me. He's a nice easy going guy with an authentic laugh who gives you the space to work and to experiment on your projects. I recommend!

Leslie arrived on Mayo Day and later took part in the Fireworks Parade, which was such a super spectacular experience, so he came into town with a bang. I showed him the Peninsula where he blessed his eyes from the holy well, went through the window three times not to drown and made friends with a flock of sheep. I really enjoyed the day we went to Ceide Fields and Down Patrick Head, taking funny photos beside Dun Briste. On route we happened on an unusual but excellent exhibition in Ballinglen based on Japanese horror stories. We discussed what he had to do in the house and he was open to everything, even ironing for the first time. I made photos with instructions and when I was away he only contacted me if he needed clarification. He wasn't lonely because he's always doing something, meeting people, going to the gym or keeping Blaithin company. When the weather turned nice he and a friend hired bikes and went to the beach, but when I came back he had everything I asked done. Lesley is so easy to get on with, he's such a courteous young man, full of happiness and humorous in a nice way. We had a hilarious time at a public meeting to save the Men’s Shed. Lesley understands situations and enjoys the Irish way of life, like getting a free trip on the bus. I still don't understand how he missed seeing the Northern Lights, because everybody else saw them. Thank you Leslie for digging out the gunnera, moving the turf and cutting the brambles in the garden and for cleaning the switches, plastering the wall and painting my front doors. You were also a great help with finding the voice recording facility, narrating the German translation for my work and explaining the TV/DVD instructions. I wish you all the best on your Irish adventure. You were a pleasure to host.

It was a pleasure to have Luis and Julia here for 3 weeks. Hard workers, polite, respectful of your property and very nice to be around. I learned a lot from Luis 's knowledge in gardening and landscaping and enjoyed having Julia helping me with horses. Our dogs are missing them already!. We had lots of work to do rebuilding a retaining wall and they did amazing. We really appreciated their help and having them at the ranch, we accomplished a lot in 18 days. They kept their accommodation super clean which we appreciate a lot. We're wishing them good luck with their adventure in Canada and highly recommend them!

I spent a little over a week on Lynda and Chris’s farm and it was great! This was my first experience as a Workawayer and I can only recommend it. The work was manageable and Lynda and Chris were very helpful, motivated and incredibly kind. Everything was well explained to me, so I never felt like I couldn’t accomplish something. Nearby is a very beautiful beach and a cute village with the friendliest people I have ever met. But the highlight of my stay was the food: Lynda is a fantastic cook! Once again, a big thank you to Lynda, Chris (Rocket & Bob)!

I spent 5 weeks at Quinta in October/December 2023. I could not have imagined a better first Workaway experience. Dirk is an amazing person. From day one he was open, caring, sharing stories and his wisdom with me (JUST DO IT!) and just made me feel at home. I'm grateful for all of our talks, for showing me around and taking me to ecstatic dance and Biodanza. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this permaculture project, plant trees and take care of the forest garden. I'm grateful for the possibility of walking the dogs, preparing delicious meals, cacao breaks, for the people I met, for the little wooden hut, for the games we played and just simply for the possibility of being there, in the presence of nature. Dirk, his neighbor - Heide, his babies - Lia, Tess and Pipa, will stay in my heart. I hope to come back one day to see how the place evolves and to hug all of the family! Thank you Dirk for this amazing experience ❤️

Prepare for spontaneous adventures, local experiences and great conversations. I stayed with Shen, Linus, Theo, Yasmin and Linne (and chocolate, peanut and the rest of the animal pack) for three eventful weeks. The family is really welcoming and very interested in 'tailoring' the stay so that it suits your particular interests. If you are interested in food, culture, nature or shopping, they always have a pile of recommendations ready. My tasks were primarily cleaning (sweeping inside and out, hanging laundry, vacuuming the house weekly, doing the dishes), organizing closets, bookshelves and toys, and spending time with the children. The hours are super flexible and Shen and Linus are good at accommodating if you need some time for yourself. The tone is direct, which is nice as it avoids misunderstandings. If you are very structured, punctual and thrive best in routines, I would recommend finding another host, as the family's plans can change quickly so you have to adjust. That's part of the charm, but maybe not for everyone. In return, you have your own room, which you are the master of. It has a bed, fan and a desk so you can spend some time to yourself. I enjoyed my Workaway stay. It was very educational, eventful and a great way to explore the authentic Kuala Lumpur. Thank you to Shen, Linus, Theo, Yasmin and Linne for inviting me into the family for a short while. I hope we meet again!!

Marta once apologized for not being a real backpacker and being wildly out of place at our hostel, but we don’t think that’s true. Especially because she said that 3 weeks after we’d already accepted her as one of our own. We’ve had ALL KINDS of folks, some same same, some different. We’d never pack as many shoes as Marta would, but she’d never be out of place here… unless we hiked a mountain with our luggage 😂 We’d have her back anytime, and recommend you do, too. She took quickly to assignments, has a great sense of humor, and a big heart. She’s real (if you are, too), professional (we always are), and a flexible yoga teacher (Never, in a million, us). We had a lot of deep conversations and light-hearted jokes. Most importantly of all, she has a beautiful song in her heart, and is always singing. She WILL be your best Karaoke singer. Alanna was a great host during our two week stay in Banff. We enjoyed working at food rescue, meeting her other volunteers, helping out in the yard, mucking out the horses and doing DIY tasks around the house. We decided a schedule together and she trusted us to get on with the task Exploring Banff during our time off was awesome fun in the summer. Self motivation and a can-do attitude is recommended to get the most out of this Workaway. Alanna was good fun to be around , we left with plenty of happy memories!

It was lovely to have Christine as part of our family for a while. She is a kind and thoughtful young woman, anticipating tasks before they were named, also ready to lend a helping hand and willing to undertake any kind of work. She sweetened our days with cookies and brightened our evenings with exotic salads. Indeed a real pleasure to have in the house.

Paris was with us for 3 weeks, in this time she was a great member of the team. Paris was always friendly with the guests and other workawayers. Always willing to lend a hand and never complains about any of the work she is presented with and carries out all duties well. Socially too, Paris was a wonderful addition to Hostel, she always had time to chat with guests to make them feel more comfortable and at home. P.S. She bakes a mean banana bread We highly recommend Paris!

I stayed with Monica and her wonderful family for a couple months and to say it was a dream would be an understatement! Monica is an incredibly generous and accommodating host whose hospitality (along with her mother, son, and partner) will leave you feeling very much at “home” and comfortable. As a host, Monica made me feel like family, sharing conversation and jokes — and even inviting me to family/friends dinners! Much like his mom, Filippo is very funny and incredibly intuitive and intelligent and gifted. Even at his young age, there is never a dull moment with Filippo. I constantly learned new things from him and really cherished his company. He takes a real interest in all things; geography, rock music, football, and just anything that fancies his curiosity. He is quite the accomplished ten year old as he has many hobbies and interests, so staying with Fili will always be an adventure everyday! Teaching Filippo Spanish and guitar, he was able to pick things up remarkably fast and naturally. It was a pleasure and such a breeze teaching Filippo as he’s the best student! It is important to note that I spent much time with Filippo’s grandmother and she so kindly fed me and kept me company at times while Fili was away. She is remarkably generous when it comes to cooking and helping you with most things in her ability. She added so much to this experience and I cherish every meal and moment we shared! The accommodation is perfect, private, and cozy. You have everything you need and more, with plenty time for yourself to explore Rome or anything else. Monica is a very fair and reachable host and I would recommend anyone to stay with her family times a million.

I stayed at Fernando's farm for 6 weeks and it is hard to describe how special this time was for me. This is truly a magical place where you can feel spirits of all the beautiful people that were involved in the project through the years. Experiencing the community life like this, making connections with people, helping each other and feeling mutual responsibility was really beautiful. You can feel like you also can put your influence in this place and feel valuable part of the community. The tasks to be done there were really various- plantation, construction, trimming, weeding in the garden. I feel like I developed a lot of skills especially construction and building skills there. I'm grateful for the experience, BIG thank you to all the buddies I met there for sharing this time together and making it special, and thank you Fernando for creating this unique project. I stayed on the farm for 7 weeks and loved every moment of it. It was my first community experience and I'm happy it was here on this beautiful farm. I met lots of amazing people from different places in the world, we spent a lot of time together working on the land, sitting by the lake, doing various workshops. It's a really magical place that attracts many like-minded people who all want to connect with each other and live surrounded by nature. The land is beautiful, there's a lake and a river nearby and a lot of common areas at the house where you can relax. The work is very fair and varied, we work split in teams and everyone can choose what they want to do. During my time at the farm I did some work in the garden weeding, digging trenches and planting vegetables and trees. I also helped taking care of the animals. In the second half of my stay I painted a wall mural with two other volunteers and I loved sharing this project with them. I'm greatful fo being able to stay there and I hope to return one day ❤️

Our time in Sathanee was very creative. We worked in the compost, in some artistic and construction proyects. We felt very independent and we were able to explore Koh Phayam with Chai`s and Taisia advise. Thank you for all!
