We would love to have volunteers who would help with making our exciting mythological life size cement garden statues.

98% of our volunteers have been strict vegetarian we have had no problems!!
*️️️️️️If you hanker after chicken everyday, lobsters etc, you will be required to buy these and we will be happy to cook it for you.
*Our local loyal staff are family though not blood related, and have been with the family for many, many decades , one over 40 years, and treat volunteers with respect, and we would like you to please reciprocate and live up to it..Most of you do.. Politeness goes a long way!!
* Please do not use them to 'wait' on you, this is a small hotel, remember that you are here to help them and learn .
* 98% of our volunteers have understood the above and become good friends, however sadly we have had about 2 % who have rubbed all up!
*All our local male staff members are married men with children, please be aware and girls do not flirt please!!
* Remember too that you are in the East and wearing suggestive clothes that would be ok in the West, would not be appropriate here.
A long skirt and shawl for visiting the temple is a must.
*Knickers that are longer than your shorts..NO!
*Boobs on show another 'no'!
* Would also like to add that you must be able and happy to do what you say you can do.
*Our lovely volunteer daughter Sydney has made a most magnificent cement lion in the garden in memory of my parents ..
* We expect our volunteers to treat our local staff with respect, and not arrogantly bang doors in their face when asked if they could lend a hand!
Although 98% of our lovely volunteers 'daughters of the house' have nested well and connected with our other volunteers and local staff and have been respectful, we have had a couple sadly who had taken kindness as a weakness, and one who did graffiti on one of our volunteers murals..
*Please do not come if angry with the world and have problems seeing the 'light and happiness of others'!!!
*Not the hours one puts in but what is done during those hours.
*PLENTY of time to sunbathe by the jungle pool, helping our local staff and other volunteers
comes first!
All work must be done with love.
Some hospitality experience an advantage.
An opportunity to stay in "one of the most extraordinary hotels of the world. with much color and some island and family history, the owners family were involved with gaining Sri Lanka's Independence and her grandmother Women's Rights.
We are unable to take drama queens who are rude and do not wish to connect with our other volunteers or other inhabitants of the house!!!The spirits get miffed!!
Please also remember we all have ups and downs. We need happy, polite and positive souls, no sulks allowed!!!
Minimum stay at least one month.
Very exciting 'goings on' here, our lovely American volunteer daughter of the house who was with us for 4 months completed her exciting mirror work.

Use of the hotel cinema, and swimming pool, which is surrounded by jungle and guarded by fairy statues!

Welcome happy souls, with a sense of WHIMSY, and adventure, who would like to help us for 5 hours a day, and two days off a week.
We are ALL hands on here, and nothing would be asked, that we are not prepared to do ourselves!
We are a noted, small, whimsical, Heritage Art Hotel with some island history and has been on the BBC in a documentary with Alexander Armstrong in Kandy Google !!!
We all work as a team here, and are much blessed with our team of loyal local helpers .
Our home, which it is to many here is a 10 minutes walk from the ancient kingdom of Kandy, overlooking the golden roofed Temple of the Tooth, lake, magnificent mountain scenery, is flanked by jungle, and is now a small art hotel catering for adventurers looking for somewhere different to stay, and 'nest' .
Kandy is famed for her Arts and Crafts and is the center of the ancient cities.
Our aim is to keep our guests happy, and leave inspired, and wanting to come back, which many of them do.
A house which is much loved and understood, or misunderstood and disliked, by those looking for a regular hotel experience!
The house was designed in the 30's by my mother.
Hosting many celebrities.
Walls of the house are covered in murals, newspaper cuttings, family paintings, and photographs and tells the history of our home, the art hotel.
Time off and What to do?
Much to see around Kandy, famous Botanical gardens, Golden roofed temple of the Tooth, day trips to the ancient cities. Tea gardens, tea factory, elephant orphanage, and much more.
