Consider yourself lucky if you get to stay with this lovely family. I enjoyed a perfect workaway stay: beautiful place, beautiful people, nice work, cozy accommodation, good travel opportunities – and good food!
They are incredibly nice, funny and interesting to talk to – seriously, you will hardly come across more pleasant people. I stayed in a
… read more modern caravan, and several times a week had lunch and dinner together with the family. But beware, you’ll be spoiled afterwards: Anne is a fantastic cook!
For me, the balance between time for myself and time spent with the family was perfect.I loved spending time reading in the caravan, and they not only made sure I had a bike available, but also that I had ideas where to go with it and on occasion dropped me somewhere with the bike so I could see places further away.
Now and then we played football together, and I could join when they went swimming. The area is stunning, Clifden is a lovely town nearby (with a fantastic little book store!), and getting around by bike is easy – also, there are busses from Clifden, for example to Kylemore Abbey, which is definitely worth a visit. Even on the property itself you can take lovely little walks in their forest and have access to a lake.
The work was varied and not too hard, from planting garlic to weeding beds, and the working hours were very fair.
Last but not least, you just have to love their dog, a genuine Kangaretter 😉
Thank you so much for everything, I definitely hope to be back. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Lydia was a fantastic person to have staying with us as a workawayer. She was polite, completed all the tasks that we had set and was a pleasure to have around the house. She is a well travelled and interesting person with a great deal of knowledge to share.
We would definitely recommend her to any potential hosts
Bruno and Laleska spent almost a month with us on the farm. They are young, enthusiastic, professional and intelligent people with a real desire to learn and be involved, however, they were very respectful of us and our space. Their communication was straightforward and everybody knew from the outset what was involved as part of their stay.
They
… read more are both fantastic with children and our kids were incredibly sad to say goodbye to them after their time with us. My son spent hours riding with Bruno and treated him like an older brother. Laleska would play for hours and draw with my daughter.
What they may lack in practical skills, they sure make up for in their enthusiasm and willingness/eagerness to learn.
We were happy to have them accompany us when they were not working as they were so easy to spend time with. They are on a special journey in Europe as a couple and any WorkAway host that has an enquiry from them should absolutely consider hosting them.
Simon and Anne are an amazing couple, they are adorable, responsive, patient, respectful, intelligent and have a lot to share.
Simon is a very nice and special guy, very good to work with you and Anne (a very talented cook).
They have two very funny, polite, pleasant children, Lainey has the cutest laugh and has fun in simplicity, Rory is very
… read more calm, helpful and loves to ride a bike and play football. We had a lot of nice moments with them and a good laugh.
Anh, they also have a very crazy dog, who had a lot of fun and also two kittens who love hiking.
The working hours are fair and the days off too. The work is generally very dynamic (something new every day). They have some rental property related projects too (hosting).
The accommodation in the caravan is very comfortable, with everything from a normal home, they always took us shopping for food and never missed anything.
Clifden and the surrounding area is beautiful with lots of nature, water and the natives are really cool.
We were welcomed as if we were family, they took us to the beach, invited us to lunch / dinner and even took us to go on a boat, we had a great time with this family.
Thank you family: Simon, Anne, Lainey, Rory and Doty, we are already missing you.
We wish you success in your projects.
Ps: thanks for the cake Rory, I will never forget this and you my friend!

I arrived in March for two weeks and I leaved after 4 months. I spend the entire period of isolation with them. No six nation rugby match, no St Patrick's day, no pubs... Really special moment to be in Ireland ! But, it was such a good experience. Definitely my most beautiful experience in an other country. I learn so much. Anne and Simon are
… read more amazing host and now amazing friends. I already think about going back in Ireland to see them. I was totally part of the family and I can't be more grateful. It was the perfect place to be, and the perfect family to be for sharing, laughing, improving his English... They give so much and I can't say all the things they done for me. We say in France that Irish people are really open mind and friendly.. Anne and Simon are just more than that, and all their friends are just amazing. I just fell in love of Ireland, specially the Connemara, and his people. I wish that every people who use Workaway will live an experience like that.
I was essentially working outside with Simon. We started around 9 in the morning. My biggest job was to create a new vegetable garden. The jobs were diversify, planting trees, creating vegetables beds, removing a polytunnel, sowing, gardening, painting, fixing fends, cutting wood.... We made a really good team together and Simon gave me lot of freedom in my jobs. We shared really good moments working together ! Simon will always listening your ideas and working on it with you. He's a really nice person and I learn so much from him.
This is the place to be. Anne is an amazing cooker, an amazing mother and I spend really good time laughing with her ! Without her, my time in Ireland wouldn't be the same! The kids are amazing! Rory and Lainey are the little brother and sister I never had. They are really calm, playing between us easily, and really smart kids. They are interested by lot of things and it was good to take care about them when it was my job! Anne and Simon have traveling in different countries during their life and it was lovely to talk about it when you are a young men who just want to travel.
Clifden is also a really nice place to be ! Near Galway and along the west coast the place is really beautiful. It's easy to go walking, hiking in the mountains, swimming, kayaking, fishing...

Loius arrived with us at the beginning of the Covid lockdown with a view to staying 2 weeks and stayed for a total of 4 months. To say that he became a member of our family and friend for life would be a understatement.
