Description
We are a group of 20 people starting a intentional community / ecovillage and seminar- /skillsharing centre in a former child hospital. Its located in the middle of the forest near Harzgerode, a small town in the middle of Germany. The next big City is Quedlinburg, 20km north.
The buildings were quite unoccupied for the last 20 years but are in good condition. Currently we are setting up new and fixing old or broken infrastructure, reactivate the Farmhouse with its two greenhouses for own vegetables and preparing the huge property to host some bigger outdoor events in summer.
*** We are particularly looking for people to join us on the collaborative "wood week". There, we will welcome a few guests and all work together on sawing and chopping wood. We've got some cool machines to do this that we can teach you how to use, chilled evening programmes for everyone to get to know one another, basically sweat and fun!
If you're planning to come in, please arrange to be there for the wood week :)Types of help and learning opportunities

We live culture of sharing, where a lot of space and things are shared. But there is also a lot of space, if there is a need for more privacy. You can meet people who live alternative lifestyles (living moneyless, hitchhiking, dumpsterdiving, workawaying). You can also learn about alternative energy systems, claywork, sustainable living and living in a community.

You can sleep in our own tent/hammock, a shared room with bunk beds or even your own room if capacity allows.
We mostly eat food that we save from local super markets or that are left over from the local food bank. We also dumpster dive from time to time or save food/stuff from festivals.
Most of us prefer to eat vegan/vegetarian food, but there are also some of us, who eat meat.
Sometimes (at least once a week) there is a shared meal with the whole community. During work/building weeks there are regular communal cooked meals. What else ...
Getting to Harzgerode can sometimes be a bit tricky as the busses and trains (a beautiful but veeery slow touristy train) on the last mile have quite limited service in evening, meaning you might need to start travelling quite early to get here. We can pick you up from the train station in Quedlinburg or Berga/Kelbra if there is no other way / you miss a train etc.
We are surrounded by beautiful nature, forest, some waterfalls of the nearby Selke river. The above metioned touristy train is actually quite nice (for sight-seeing, not to get anywhere quickly ;) and included in the 49€ ticket!
Outside of organized building or wood-making or other working weeks, we don't always have very structured daily routines, so we expect self-responsibility and hope for your thirst for action.A little more information
