Tony gave me a place to stay last minute and it was a fantastic experience. His pets are super lovely and fun to take care of. I was able to work on my thesis a lot while taking care of his place and the pets a bit during the day. He is super nice and interesting and has many stories to tell. I felt very comfortable with him and he made me feel very welcome. I would recommend his place to anyone that wants to decompress and have a relaxing time in Kumamoto while feeling like staying at a friends place for a while.

As my 2nd time volunteering in Morocco, I wanted a different kind of experience and decided that, seeing I would be volunteering during the holy month of Ramadan, to concentrate my volunteering efforts on helping needy animals. Tessa's profile came up and I immediately liked what she presented as a host. And I wasn't disappointed. The volunteers (I got to volunteer with a Finnish woman, 3 people from the Netherlands and a Canadian couple) were all super nice and relaxed people, and we gelled together as we learned the routine to feed the animals - horses, donkeys, sheep, a camel, tortoises, inside cats, stray cats and big dogs! A twice a day routine of feeding and in-between we were free to go into Essaouira or do as we like. Situated in a lovely cared-for douar, there were taxis to use or we even went into town with Tessa. Thank you for that Tessa! A lovely house to stay in, which was also a huge surprise! Thank you Tessa for a wonderful time at your animal santuary, your love for your animals, what you have done for them and will still do. It's an inspiration to me! I will never forget this time!

We had great pleasure hosting İlano from the first day. He is very easy-going, uncomplicated and eager to learn new things. Ilano is a very friendly person with whom it is fun to discuss and talk about everything. She did different jobs in our house, such as weeding, cultivating the garden, and cooking. What a glorious wholesome experience this was! I had the most wonderful time with the fam - loved the people, the space, the food. communication was clear and easy, we had an opportunity to touch base about everything that needed to be done and there was a lot of openness for feedback and contributions. i truly felt like part of the community, part of the family even, and you guys will always have a very special place in my heart. sending big hugs. hope to see y'all again soon.

We miss Milla & Loic already ! It was a pleasure to have them stay with us initially for 3 weeks and then a further 3 months ! Excellent English, really kind and fun with our kids, great company, no problem with any job we asked them to do .. general cleaning, power washing, babysitting .. fixing printers ! We would highly recommend them and wish them the best of luck in the future xxxx

Raoul was a great energy to have on the farm. He was able to talk to anyone and made people feel welcome. He was very helpful and caring looking after Millie when she broke her ankle, even bringing food! Together we planted seeds, did some deep cleaning and he helped in the kitchen. Thank you for all your help, and keep up the good climbing!

If you have the ability to come and do a workaway with Lauren and Tony, then seize it! I've spent the last three weeks with them, their nine alpacas, and cat Mickey. The time there has flown, with lots of laughs and learning to fill the days. The alpacas are not early risers, so you can calmly eat your breakfast, drink coffee, and get ready before you head out to check on them. The barns need to be cleaned daily as well as giving the alpacaniños their brekky. Once the barns were cleaned and prepped, we would do other tasks, such as weeding or ensuring the paddocks were clean. I was fortunate to have mostly sunny, or at most, cloudy days to work. I arrived without much knowledge about alpacas and now know so much about them! It's been great to absorb so much information about their diets, needs, and daily life. I got to know them as puffs of fluff with their winter coats and was present the day they were sheared. Before we had to make sure they didn't overheat on those sunny, warm days. Now they look quite different and have to keep checking on them to ensure they are warm during the cooler nights. Lauren and Tony love their alpacaniños and their attention to their wellbeing is admirable. Each alpaca has their own personality and it was a lot of fun getting to know them and their quirks. They are sweet, intelligent animals that keep themselves clean and unlike other animals, their poop really doesn't stink! I'm going to miss hanging out with them. I also helped Lauren cook, and they were very accommodating to make sure I enjoyed my meals and that I had a vegetarian option available if I desired. We ate a variety of foods and made sure I was full and satisfied. In our spare time, we would sit around and chat, play board games, and did an online pub quiz one night. On days off, we would go on trips to neighboring cities or beaches. I got to see quite a bit of the Lugo area as well as Santiago de Compostela. They are well connected with the local community and I got to meet a number of neighbors during my time there. You definitely get a multi-cultural exchange as I got to deepen my understanding of British and Gallego culture. If you are lucky enough to visit them, i would recommend you bring slippers or house shoes for colder nights. They provide you with all the tools you will need for the jobs, but make sure you bring appropriate clothing for warm days as well as cold and rainy days since Gallego weather changes quickly and dramatically. Lauren and Tony go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and at home, always checking in to make sure you are comfortable with the tasks and taking a break with a cold drink. When it was sunny out and we had a moment in the afternoon, it was lovely to sit in the paddock and admire the landscape with the alpacas. It was such an honor to work with Lauren and Tony on making their dream become a reality. It's hard work for them and I'm happy I was able to help and try to ease the load. We are already planning on meeting again in June and I look forward to the next time I'm on the farm with them, Braun, Goofy Charlie, Monty, Olaf, Queen Tuppence, Maple, Marmalade, Petal, Charlotte, Baby Alpaca, and Mickey!! Rike is a real pleasure to have in the family! She is very well mannered, hard working and helpful. She got along very well with our kids and helped us so much with everything, taking care of our horses and other animals, playing with kids, cooking, cleaning and charity work. Always welcome back!

Chloe and Billy were great easygoing volunteers. As we were in a big drought there wasn’t a lot of work to do but whatever we needed help with they were there. They created innovative dishes in the kitchen, planted seeds and helped us remove a big tree that fell on one of our roofs! They provided great entertainment in the evenings too! We would recommend chloe and billy to all other hosts and we wish you could’ve stayed longer! Best wishes and we home to come and visit you soon :)

Stanley & Madeline are beautiful people, reliable work-awayers who are a joy to have around. Hosting them was easy and comfortable form the very beginning. They were polite, considerate, clean & tidy and easy going. We enjoyed shared conversation, laughter and playing card/board games together. For the work side of things they were happy to get on whatever was asked of them, they worked hard and had great awareness about what they were doing, the purpose of their task & their surroundings. They were fantastic with our animals and overall very trustworthy. 100% recommend Stan & Maddy as workawayers! :D

My task was to take photos of this place, rooms and small elements. We agreed on a specific number of days to exchange the material. I got a private room with a bathroom. I prepared breakfast myself in the kitchen using locally sourced products, and then I could eat rice and curry prepared by them with the employees. The place is beautiful and refined in every detail. Gaja put a lot of heart into them. Rustic style. The space is very clean and well-kept, and they care about customer satisfaction. The work of a photographer requires a lot of time with a computer, it was nice to be able to work by the pool and around the greenery. I was also accompanied by a small dogy who joined the team. I didn't have much time to see the area, but you can get to the center of Kandy by bus, or to the nature like Ella waterfalls or Allagala trekk. Thank you for time in this beauty house and i wish you a lot of many satisfied customers.

As my first Workaway experience, this set the bar very high! I stayed 2 months with Avril, Alex, Alika, and Aelis and what a blessing it was. I got to experience what Spanish life was like in a family setting along with some French culture as well (bonus:) Alex and Avril were super communicative, kind, generous, and made me feel like part of the family. I was included in everything but also had the freedom to have my own space if needed. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely spacious and comfortable. The house and area is absolutely breathtaking and peaceful. My responsibilities were as described in the profile. I took the girls to school some days, helped with DIY projects, cooked once a week, and then had a specific English activity once a week. The girls are fun to be around and are super creative and loving. Driving in Spain was pretty easy to navigate and Avril and Alex were generous to allow me the freedom to use the car to explore when time allowed. I will definitely be back to visit!! love you guys ❤️❤️

Lovely, lovely Lynne! Thank you so much for giving us such an amazing experience in your home. We stayed with Lynne for almost 3 weeks and it was a delight. She is a very caring person with a big heart and welcomed us and our dog into her home with so much love and care. She is very keen to make you feel like home and take part of her life. She invited a lot of friends over, took us to restaurants (she knows the best paella place!), showed us a wonderful hiking route and we went to a very fun local event in the town where she asked the DJ to play us ABBA (a very sweet thing to do to make us feel welcomed). Her dog Chico is also the most wonderful dog, calm and will follow you everywhere to 'check' that you are working properly (or just to get a cuddle or a treat). I (Felicia) celebrated my birthday there and we both got the day off and she had even bought me a birthday present, which made my day feel special even if I was far away from my family and friends. The work is very fun but also very flexible, you decide yourself when you want to start and then finish when the work for the day is done. Most of the time is Lynne with you, so it is easy to ask questions and have a good communication. She is happy to share her skills and we learnt to much about gardering from her. Her garden is absolutely beautiful with lots of flowers, aloe veras but the most incredible thing was her avocado tree. The best avocados we have every eaten! The area is beautiful as well and we enjoyed the walks amongst the orange trees and along the river with our dog. We went into Gandía a few times and we loved the city, the promenad along the sea is incredible. We would love to come back and visit her again!

Elisa è una donna fantastica, un'ottima compagnia ed eccellente lavoratrice. Non capita spesso di incontrare qualcuno con tanto cuore e bontà interiore. Ci piacerebbe un sacco poterci rivedere un giorno. Non possiamo fare a meno di consigliare a tutti di passare del tempo in sua compagnia. Ha saputo trasmetterci molta sicurezza.

What could be more inviting than good food, someone you can laugh with and an incredibly warm-hearted, gorgeous woman. We enjoyed our time with Ronda a lot. She welcomed us with open arms. We went on several trips together to Sunny Beach and Nesebar, which is more than we could ask for. She always made sure we have everything and are happy. She has also made the effort to cook vegan and vegetarian dishes which were absolutely fantastic. Work doesn't feel like work at all when you enjoy gardening and being outdoors (which we absolutely do:) ). We are so grateful for our time with Rodna and highly recommend Rodnas lovely home. We already miss working together in the garden, walking with the dogs on the beach and our movie nights. This was my first experience as a workawayer and I loved it. Joo is super attentive and relaxed and he made sure you had everything you needed. The farm is located in a remote area so it is not easy to go to the store but the fridge is always filled with food and you have tons of eggs from the chickens every day. The house is cozy and you get your own room and bathroom, which I loved. I had to feed the animals, clean the chicken house and the donkey field, plant and water the plants, chop wood and clean around the house. I already miss brushing Magic (the donkey) and going to the beach with Milk. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to return. Thank you for everything Joo!

It was really great having Louisa here with a group who helped me as I prepared for a solo exhibition. Lousia helped with the animals and also with all the studio assistant duties as I was getting the work together and as a group they formed a fantastic team. Louisa is a pleasure to have helping and I can recommend her for any stay, hope to see her back out here!

My time with Michel, Valery, and their daughter Barbara was absolutely incredible! From the moment I stepped into their home, I felt like part of the family. Even though I had zero experience, they made me feel totally at ease with taking care of Barbara, spending time with her was such a joy! Beyond the caregiving duties, I created a lot of memories of meaningful moments. Michel and Valery are really fascinating people, I've learnt a lot from them and I had a really great time spending time together travelling and sharing meals. I need to mention that every meal was a masterpiece, and I felt so lucky to enjoy it. Thank you for hosting me and for this experience!
