    Hello Volunteers ~

Thank you for checking us out!

We are seeking volunteers (with preference to long term) to help with the evolving vision for our 5 acre vacation property. We are in a time of transition and considering different options for what this beautiful land can be. For the past 14 years+ we have been a short term vacation rental property, and are now becoming a long-term rental with a conscious community minded approach. The ideal volunteers would have a wide range of skill sets, to assist with day to day projects. Knowledge of maintenance, sewing, carpentry and such are much appreciated, as is the love of gardening and the arts. We are very thankful for those who are attentive to details and keeping the surroundings clean! As we are not catering to vacationers as we have in the past, and so receptionists, tour guiding and such skills are not needed. Also we do not have a restaurant and so bartending or waitressing skills are also not necessary.
Currently, knowledge of and tending to the surrounding plant life, maintaining our nature trails, as well as tending to the vegetable gardens (which you are welcome to enjoy the harvest) keep us busy. We also welcome wellness teachers of all sorts and artists who would enjoy enhancing the beauty of our world.
If you'd like to offer your skills in these domains and are available for a long term exchange, we would love to hear from you! We prefer at least a month long stay.

We have lived in a number of places around the world and have settled in beautiful Costa Rica - mainly as the people here are so wonderful with the Pura Vida attitude and the incredible beauty of nature here.
Our place has evolved with the intention to make it as close to the magical feeling we had while living on the island of Bali as possible, with in fact, a house shipped from Bali and assembled here on the property.

This 5 acre property is located close to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and is beautifully landscaped with 4 traveler/guest casitas, - The House/our volunteer's house, a yoga pavilion, meditation labyrinth, nature trails, seasonal creek and a Spa House. We’ve catered to travelers from around the world and look forward to hosting more.

We have been holding classes for our guests and local community including Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation and weekly Dharma classes for over 8 years. We welcome all teachers with interesting subject matter to share. Our volunteers are always welcome to participate in classes. We strive to have our guests, volunteers and students find peace, solitude and an appreciation of nature while staying here.

We are looking for people with a good/tranquilo attitude, a positive work ethic and those who can contribute with enthusiasm their skills and ideas. Currently, our priority is offering a positive experience to our guests, continuing to dream up new possibilities for offerings and direction for this land, as well as miscellaneous building projects. General knowledge of gardening and housekeeping/maintenance is helpful. Other skills are needed at different times of the year (craftspeople, artists, builders, etc.). We welcome all teachers with special skills to share their knowledge with others in whatever capacity. We are located in a beautiful area of Costa Rica, close to the beach and jungle. Accommodations are comfortable and we enjoy welcoming solo travelers and couples alike.

Long term volunteers are what we prefer - at least a month. Volunteers have comfortable accommodations with private bathroom, hot water and shared kitchen. If you have a skill that you can offer to the community (teachers, yoga, bodywork, carpentry, etc., etc.) it is possible to develop a way to make some extra monies while staying here. With good Internet, we have had many Digital Nomads find just the ticket while making your way traveling through the world.

Our property is easily accessible (15 minute walk) to the bus stop which connects country wide. Ojochal is in a beautiful, safe and quiet part of the country. In addition to our ideal location, we are, 10+ minutes walk to all amenities such as grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, rivers, and a pleasant 25 minute walk to playa Tortuga.

We have goals of continuing to develop our place to be a peaceful, Eco-friendly place on this earth. We have been working to plant and condition the landscape using organic methods to provide a sustainable source of healthy food, minimizing consumption of power and water to create a more harmonious environment.

Welcome to those who would like to contribute to this vision!

    Directions from San Jose airport:

When exiting the airport head to the front of the airport where you'll find the bus stop. Take the bus to downtown San Jose (ask if bus is heading there as some busses don't). Another option is Uber or taxi from the airport.
The bus will stop at the center; get off and look for red taxis, ask to take you to the Tracopa bus station. At the station, ask for a ticket to Uvita. When you are on your way, the bus makes its second rest stop at Uvita, ask the driver then to drop you off at Ojochal (which is approx 15 minutes more south).
Keep us posted on your arrival time and we will pick you up. Best to cross road from arrival at bus stop and wait for pickup off main highway.
    When in doubt, ask!

Directions; If arriving from Nicaragua by bus: (as said by a traveler)

*️️️️️️️️️We recommend Tica Bus from Nicaragua to the Tica Bus Terminal/Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica. If required, pre-book a night at the small 9 room hotel in the terminal (the hotel is attached) and catch a connector bus the next morning from the Tracopa Ltda Bus Terminal to Uvita.

*️️️️️️️️️You will need to take a taxi from the Tica Bus Terminal/Hotel to Tracopa Ltda Bus Terminal which is approximately 15min by taxi.

*️️️️️️️️️Check with the ticket clerk at each bus terminal to verify bus departure times as the websites are not always accurate.
There are 2 buses that leave in the early morning. One is a 4 hour ride for $20, the other is a 5-6 other ride for $10.

*️️️️️️️️️When you arrive from S.J. by Tracopa bus, it will stop for a 30 minute rest stop at the Uvita bus terminal. This is a hub of main shops in Uvita with a cafe, grocery store, and an information center where you can find maps of the area and info on tours and such.

*️️️️️️️️️From Uvita you can continue on the Tracopa bus, or take a taxi or local bus to Ojochal which is a 15 minute ride south. We are a 15 minute walk from the main entrance of Ojochal to our property or we can make arrangements to meet for a ride from the bus stop. We will give detailed instruction to property during our Whatsapp or Skype phone call. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
