    Description

    Hello and welcome!

We are a warm and welcoming family based in Navan, County Meath, just 40 minutes from Dublin. Our home has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and we love meeting people from all over the world who are curious about Irish life and culture.

Our household runs at a gentle, happy pace, and we’d love an extra pair of hands to help keep things ticking along.

We’re looking for someone reliable, positive, and fun who can help out for a few hours in the mornings with light household tasks — tidying, organising and occasionally help in the evenings with childminding while I’m at classes. My daughter is kind, sensitive and loves to chat, so someone who enjoys engaging with children and has a cheerful, caring nature would be perfect.

The rest of your day is your own — free to explore the town, visit local heritage sites, or hop on the bus to Dublin or the coast. Navan is well connected, full of cafés, history, and green spaces.

In exchange for your help, we offer comfortable accommodation, home-cooked meals, and the chance to experience genuine Irish family life. We believe in the spirit of cultural exchange — sharing stories, learning from each other, and creating memories that last.

If you’re enthusiastic, open-minded, and enjoy being part of family life, we’d be delighted to welcome you into our home. ☘️

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You’ll have plenty of chances to immerse yourself in local culture from daily morning walks with me and the dog to day trips to nearby heritage sites like the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, or even Dublin City.
So, all in all, you'll become more independent, maybe learn new skills, deepen cultural understanding, and bring home cherished memories of your time in Ireland.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

Keeping our home tidy and organised: Helping with general housework such as cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, folding clothes, and keeping bedrooms and kitchen area clean and tidy every day.

Walking the dog: We have a friendly dog who loves a good stroll. You’ll take them for a walk in the morning after the housework and again in the evening before bed. Please note that in Ireland, it’s a legal requirement to pick up after your dog — so we’ll provide everything you need for that.

Occasional childcare: A few evenings a week, I may need you to spend time with my daughter while I attend classes. She’s great company — creative, chatty, and loves engaging activities — so someone fun and patient will fit right in.

We’re looking for someone responsible, cheerful, and easy-going; someone who takes pride in their work but also enjoys laughter, conversation, and being part of a warm family home.

    Exploring Ireland

Navan is a fantastic base for anyone keen to explore Ireland. Located in the heart of County Meath, you’ll find plenty of history, culture and outdoor activities right on your doorstep.

Nearby attractions include Trim Castle, the Hill of Tara, Slane Castle, Bective Abbey, the Boyne Valley and many beautiful walking routes. For something a little different, Emerald Park is just a short journey away.

There is plenty to do locally too, with cafés, shops, a swimming pool, library, cinema and community events throughout the year. English conversation classes are often held in the local library on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, although you should make enquiries directly before travelling to ensure places are available.

Our home works best when everyone has a good balance between helping out and enjoying their own independence. You’re very welcome to use our house as a base for exploring Ireland, meeting friends and making the most of your free time.

When you’re helping in the home, you’ll be treated as part of the family and meals will be provided. On days when you’re travelling independently or taking time away, you’ll be responsible for your own arrangements.

We are also happy for Workawayers to take holidays or spend time travelling during their stay, provided this is discussed and agreed well in advance.

If you’ve read our profile carefully, please include the words “Here to Help” in the subject line of your message. It helps us know you’ve taken the time to read and understand what we’re looking for.

We look forward to hearing from someone who is independent, trustworthy, enjoys family life and is excited to experience Ireland from a local perspective.

    Profile photo of Teddy

    Teddy (4 years)

Teddy likes to be left on his own, but hates to be alone.
He doesnt like to be picked up, but he loves to be in your company and will join you for cuddles when he is comfortable in your company.
Teddy is very much the boss of the house. He doesnt like cats or the postman.
He loves long walks, especially when he can go off leash in the countryside. He also loves his walks around the neighbourhood. He is a very quiet dog, and only seems to bark at night when he wants to go to bed or wants a treat. He is such a great dog!
